Same! I recently came upon the Mercedes Lackey songs, and in the album Magic, Moondust, and Melancholy, there is a different version of this song. Honestly, that was the only reason I discovered all of the C.J. Cherryh books, and it was such an awesome descovery!

An absolutely fascinating character! I’ve finally read Merchanter’s Luck and it’s really interesting seeing the perception of her as a non-POV character from an essentially normal person

I really don't know, but have Signy Mallory face Pyanfar Chanur could bring an _interesting_ result. Sure, Mallory has the tactical skills of a sesoned carrier (and before that, ridership) commander. And the raw firepower of _Norway_ behind her. But when it comes to politics, Chanur seems to have the upper hand. After all, Chanur managed to become the only _mekt-hakkit_ in history, and to hold to that position for several years. And it is the politics that really dictates the fates in Alliance-Union Universe.
