BEST NIKE RUNNING SHOE? Alphafly 2 Vs Vaporfly 3 REVIEW
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 12 июл 2024
- In todays video share my thoughts on the ultimate running shoe battle between the Nike Vaporfly 3 and the Nike Alphafly 2. In this review, I compare the two carbon plated racing shoes against each other over different categories such as price point, responsiveness and even review current 5K and marathon records that have been set in them over the last few years. With the release of the Nike Alphafly 3 coming in January 2024, will this sway the debate? Let me know in the comments, are you opting for a vaporfly or alphafly for race day and why?

Happy days, another nice video by Ben is Reviewing!
Absolutely agree with you on the Alphafly 1, phenomenal shoe which the v2 could not match. Finger's crossed v3 brings back the magic.
Nice video Ben. Keep up the great work. 👏🏽
Appreciate it! Hope your runnings going well mate
Always makes the day better when you upload Ben, all the videos are so high quality and enjoyable ❤
Thanks Sam, appreciate your comment :)
Just ran Chicago in Alphafly. I love both but I’m glad I chose Alphafly for the race❤
I’m in Team Alphafly 1, run my first full marathon last weekend in the EK edition, for me the best choice 😊👍
Thanks for making this! I need to replace my vapors before my next big race and was considering the new alphas that are coming out in January but now I don’t know!
totally agree!
i love both shoes.
Absolutely no closer to making a decision. I’m gravitating towards the Alphafly. Hoping there’ll be sales in January when the 3 is released.
I picked up the AF 2 last week - I have a wide forefoot with developing bunions (yay), and not finding something that really works super well for me. I have tried nearly all carbon plated shoes (except the Hokas). I had to size up to 7.5 womens (US), my street shoe is 6-6.5. So a more than a full size. EU comparison 36.5 street, 38.5 in the AF. I wore them out of the box for a 20 miler yesterday - surprisingly good. Wide enough for my foot issues. I think they will be my CIM race day shoes.
I ran my PR in the Adidas Pro 3 - also a great pair of shoes but the Alpha Fly 2 really has the most long-mile protection I have ever experienced. My legs were not the thing that was really tired at the end of the yesterday which is amazing.
I did not love the AF first version but I think if you are a midfoot for forefoot striker, then you love that shoe. I loved the width but as a midfoot to heel striker, the first version felt like a negative drop and I was constantly having to think about my foot strike to make that shoe "work." The 2nd version really alleviates that problem for me.
I also love the VaporFly (have ran in 2 and 3), but for the marathon I think the Alpha Fly is where it's at.
Cool video Ben! Team Vapor for me. I have all my personal bests, over all range of distances with them 🤘🏼
Same as me
I'm looking at grabbing a pair of the Vapor Fly for 1/2 marathons and shorter races. Thank you for the excellent video, all the best in everything and run great in Seville in '24 !
I 100% agree with preference for the Vapourfly.
I had the issues that you mention with the Alpha (shame) but fair play to Nike for allowing me to send them back after 20 miles with a full refund.
Not often I'd agree with anyone fully but well done Ben 😂. 100% agree with you here. Love the alphafly and totally agree with all you've stated. Thanks for the video and good luck with your running. Just a random point for 5k/10k racing. I'm much faster in a Nike vaporfly or alphafly than the takumi Sen's. Good training shoe for me as 80kg runner but not a racing shoe.
Great video !! I’m running a half marathon in the end of November, and I’m in between these two. How much break-in do they need? Should I use them a bit in my speed work before the race? And do you use your race shoes for speed work as well or are they reserved for races?
Team Vaporfly! But I will be purchasing the Alphafly 3 in January! 🔥
I’m with you. Team Alphafly 1!
We should start a fan club 😂
@@BenIsRunning I'm in. By any chance, will Nike produce Alphafly1 again?
@@MS-bj2dvthey sold it at 39% discount some weeks ago, I bought a pair
weak
I have previous versions for both Alphafly 1 and Vaporfly 2. Whilst Vaporfly was giving me PBs, my ankle was in pain for at least a week after running even a half. On the otherhand, Alphafly gave me a bit more stability, however it felt heavy and it seemed like I was running slower than running in normal shoes. It made no difference. Any advice? Is it due to it being heavy or the running form… Always constantly asking myself this question.
Alphafly V1 is the best long distance shoe for me. Only shoe I've bought 5 pairs of 😂 Looking forward to seeing how the V3 holds up next year.
Haven’t tried either, can’t justify for me at that price! I went instead for Adios pro 3’s in the sale
Me too and love them👍
My alpha v1s feel faster than the vaporflys but on the latter stages of a race, my feet are literally hurting from them being so narrow and I cant wait to finish the race just to take them off. In the vaporflys however, after I finish a race my feet are in the same condition as they were before the race. Much better comfort on the vaporflys from my experience.
Edit: Both pairs are in the same size
agreed
there is also the very important drip category, which is in my opinion won by the alphafly
I'm new to running, is there a shoe you would recommend for a light 2 mile run?
VF3 completely ruined my last marathon. They proved to have very limited support which gave me terrible pain on both my ankles after 30K. I had to practically walk. They are amazing shoes in terms of energy return but no support at all if you overpronate.
what pace were you running at?
Definitely NOT a 'starter' shoe. But great information!
Interesting comparison. They're so expensive though and I'm a super slow runner, so probably not worth it for me to get either of those pairs 😄
@benisrunning Question: how do I know whether I have an alphafly 1 or 2? I think I have version 1, but I bought mine 2nd hand, and I don’t know.
I have a flat foot so I will buy the vapor fly 3 thank u for the review
Sounds like a good choice
Hi, Ben!
What are those transparent shoe boxes you’re using for your shoe storage?
Thanks.
Brought them from Amazon :)
Will wait for buy alphafly 3
Kiptum also ran his debut marathon in Valencia in the same colourway Vaporfly 2 as London, in fact could've been the exact same pair. The Chicago course I think with perfect conditions on Sunday was faster than the London course so he probably would've improved his time in Vaporflys as well.
Yes plenty of variability’s but can’t be disputed that the previous 3 including the current marathon world record has been in the alphafly, that’s my reasoning:)
Have you tried the Endorphin Pro 3s yet Ben? Unreal shoe! They’ve replaced my Vaporflys.
I have yes! They don’t seem to be as responsive for me personally, more of a tempo/intervals shoe in my rotation
Did you notice any difference in the width of the Pro 3 compared to the Vaporfly? I found the Pro 3 quite narrow in the toebox in normal size. The Endorphin Elite is wider in normal size, but still too expensive i.m.o.
@@mikes5764 very tempted by the endorphin elite. Loads more follow up reviews sounding better than the first look ones… sounds like a shoe that gets better once it’s broken in. Personally, I have a very wide foot (I had to send alphaflys back, I get my Hokas in wide etc) but I haven’t had issues with either the VF or the EPro3. I agree the pro3 is a touch narrower, bit of tightness on my little toe but it’s bearable with the upper material.
I have both but versions 1!!! Thats true they are diferent.
IDK, my personal ownership of the Alphafly suffered from punctures and quality issues. I've had bits of sole come off as well. Not exactly what you want after 2-3 runs....
Is the vaporfly 3 wider then the vaporfly 2?
what colorway is your vaporfly in
How many good racing miles do you think they are good for? Before they start becoming a training shoe
I personally think around 100k/60mi before they start losing that top end performance
@@BenIsRunning thank you, that really helps 👍🏼 I have Alphafly 1's which I'm planning to now use as a long run shoe, and vaporfly 2's which I think have a little more racing miles in them. Looking for my next racing shoe now 👍🏼
For a rolling hill marathon that could have potential rain, would you choose vaporfly or alphafly?
I wore alpha in Boston and rained last 4km and were fine for me. Now that I own a pair of vaporfly 3 can’t decide which ones for my next marathon . Both are great !
Why the Alphafly 1?? I'm trying to figure out what shoe to get for a pair of December 70.3s. I've run in the Alphafly's & Vaporfly's. Rupp & Mantz both wore the Alphafly 1's in Chicago. Magnus Ditlev (triathlete) wore them for the World Champs in Nice in September. Kiptum wore the Vaporfly 2's for a while. Seems like elite athletes can more easily test to see what shoe fits them better. They also might have better access to previous editions. Just find it interesting that Nike sponsored athletes aren't even using the newest stuff
Alphafly for marathons and halfs vaporfly for 10k and 5k in my opinion.
Why?
@rendy5092 alphaflys with there carbon plate and percentage gain work better over the long distance 👌🏻
I'm in the Vaporfly camp. I had a brief run in a friends Alphfly 2 and wasn't that impressed as felt heavy next to the Vaporfly but I guess the Alphafly is best suited to the marathon. Have not yet tried the Vaporfly3, but have both the first and second editions and preferred the original which felt a bit more responsive.
would you say these are the 2 best options? Do the others even come close?
Great question. For me they used to be the dominant supershoes but now ASICS, adidas and hoka have caught up. Pretty much even these days and is much more about preference than performance :)
I have alohafly v1 and it is unmatched.
For when another preparation for a marathon Ben?
Seville 2024
@@BenIsRunning 2024? 😮
@@BenIsRunning Maybe we meet there 😃
Nice
Thanks
Alphafly for longer distance, 30km and above. Vaporfly for half marathon and below.
Yeah anything further than a half I prefer alpha :)
Which Nike running shoes are best for Stability??
Would you say both are true to size or worth going 0.5 up?
True to size for me personally
@@BenIsRunning thanks for the reply 😊
It is well known and documented that the AF1 has better energy return and allows better running economy than AF2
Team Vaporfly here!
1500 meter or 3000 meter events how to best shoes alfaflay vs veporfly please suggest
I’d personally wear spikes but vaporfly are better on track :)
AF1❤
Oh thanks. Made my decision 100 times more difficult 😂
Opps 😂
Hey guys I’m sorry if this is a stupid question but if kipchoge ran 1:59 then how did kiptum beat his record if he ran 2:00:35?
Because 1:59 is not an official record. Not a race, rotating pacers and other disallowed conditions. Kipchoge’s official record was 2:01:09.
@@infocuslearning ohh okay thank you very much
I’ve had (unfortunately) the issue in my foot with the alphafly. I don’t have fleet feet at all, but I had to change shoes for my actual marathon block.
I decided for the Adios Pro 3. It’s another brand but I’m really enjoying this shoe!
Yes I had it also but only on the first run or 2 then they break in for me. The pro 3 is fantastic, wore that in Boston earlier this year :)
@@BenIsRunning I’ll give it another try with the new alphafly 3 🤪
I hope that the Adios pro will be lucky for me as they did for you in Boston and smash my PB 🤩
Thanks for your contents! Love it!
I have the VP3 but only wear those during race days which is like 2x a year. I have to save those bad boys but I rock the NB fuel cell super comps as daily trainers.
Smart decision!
The Alphafly V1 is the best Nike racer. 😝 You know it.
Not the Alphafly V2 or Vaporfly 3. 😉
I love the Alphafly 1. Is the Alphafly 2 worth buying?
@@simoneavery2253 No.
Stick with the Alphafly 1 for now and get the V3 when it releases beginning of next year.
I don’t think any records are on Alphafly 2. They are either 1 or 3
You forgot to give a point to the Alphafly for durability so it wins 5.4!
Did I?😂 will have to make the video all over again ;)
@@BenIsRunning It was a good video, regardless!
Alfafly 3 or Vaporfly 3 for half marathon???
Comes down to personal preference! Id pick the alphafly :)
@@BenIsRunning thank you very much
I can't fit the vapour, it's too narrow even a size up. The feet splay over the sole.
And if your already paying close to that price, and do long runs, it's a better fit and your feet get used to the arch. Af2!!
Give a daily trainer to Kelvin Kiptum and he will run sub 2:02 in them also.😅
Don’t doubt that 😂
👍
Team Alphafly 1 ,
❤
🙌
Merhaba Dostum Yayınlarını Türkçe Olarak Yapabilirsen Daha çok izleyebilirim Teşekkürler 👍
Hi forma Perú:)
I will try to win one of the marathons and surely I will try to get those alphafly
4:52 🦊
vaporfly 2 are way better than alphafly 2 in my opinion. alphafly 2 make my feet hurt and just dont feel like a comfortable fit
I Chose both lol
I must be a huge anomaly because I found both of these shoes feel terrible on my feet 🤷🏻♂️
The best carbon shoe I've found that works with my feet and my running style is the New Balance SuperComp Elite V3 🤝🏻 super comfy, nice level of bounce, not too narrow or unstable
i would agree to be honest. My feet are pretty wide so not sure if that's why?
What is that screeching in the video??
Is the AlphaFly 2 a good shoe to walk in?
I'm both. Lol
You're so cool african ben.
But the world champion using the vaporfly and run under 2 hours
He used the alphafly 3 in Chicago! Goes to show both are great options thiugh
1:1 perfect copy gucids

WINNER WINNER
@@BenIsRunning almost missed it cause youtube was sparing and tripping out 🥲 so traumatic
Barefoot always barefoot!
I loved my AF1. The foam died on me and I felt it during a 5k 🥲
Vapor flys undersold is terrible and falls apart after 80 km
