Really enjoyed Sunday’s race - knocked 70 seconds off my age group PB, and even managed to finish 1st in my M70-74 category in the first race in my Saucony Endorphin Pro 3 shoes.
Interestingly my training has been focussed on the Amsterdam 1/2 Marathon in 3 weeks time - Sunday was very much a warm up race to gauge how the 1/2 Marathon training was going - definitely got an answer to that question!
i feel really inspired and educated from how you handled getting the cold just before the race... maybe weird, but if that was me i would have been thinking my race is not going to go well, i put in all that training for nothing, etc.. you seemed to shrug it off and give it a really good go anyway. keep doing what you're doing! you are a really inspiring person!
To be honest I certainly was feeling pretty gutted the night before but it’s one of those things you can’t change so I find it best to try to reframe things and just told myself to give it everything I had regardless :)
Congratulations on you PB! I'm on week 10 of a 16 week training program for my local November 10K in Japan. Although I've run the race a few times, I've never tried a training program before.
Congrats on your journey in training , running and everything you go through , on this wild ride adventure , just started training for my first race abroad ,and my first ever marathon ,in Barcelona next march , excited to boost my volume Per week ❤🎉, your videos truly keep me plugged in keep it up 🙏
Amazing run Ben and an awesome PB 🥳 Your training block video has been very inspiring so well done from a content perspective 👍 Your PB is exactly 10 minutes faster than my 10k which just blows my mind in a good way 🙌 Keep running, keep vlogging, and above all keep injury free 🤞
ran my first 10k race ever this last Sunday. Started running 4 months ago, not able to go 2 miles without stopping. Got 50:12 in the 10k, which I'm super proud of, and already looking forward to the next one, and breaking 50!
Going from not being able to do 2 miles without stopping to 50 minutes in the 10km is pretty great stuff. I know people who have been running for years who would love to have your time. Keep it up, and I hope you enjoy it. :D
Love the videos! Hopefully you only had a cold and not COVID. I contracted the latter (unknowingly) and it negatively affected my race time. Looking forward to your next trip to Kenya!
Brilliant race well done!!. It was sooooo good to see you fist pump a CAMBUSLANG harrier as Im from Glasgow and know a few runners in that club!!...👍🏻👍🏻x
Btw absolutely not a dick if you don't respond when running! People either realize you're in the zone, or that you're moving so fast that the sound waves just aren't catching up
@@BenIsRunning my first race of this size and can't say I was a fan (and I avoided the worst of the chaos around numbers). I'll stick with smaller events I suspect but nice to give one a go
Saw you at the start but didn't get a chance to say hi, unreal time ... I got a slightly less impressive PB but a PB nonetheless 😂 Was a great day though, although the tourists constantly crossing the roads were an absolute nightmare.
Congrats Ben, great PB. How were those Alpha’s, still fresh after 1.5yrs in the box? I have new pairs in storage as well and wondering what the shelf life is for ZoomX. Your thoughts?
Congratulations on PB Ben, fantastic run and effort that 30:30 will come. Great to meet you and catch up on the start line before. Was in the yellow vest aiming for 40 min 10k. Just missed it by 5 seconds 41:05 official time came through 5k at 19:56. It was a very windy course in last 2km and the up hill coming back on the strand by Tina musical
@@BenIsRunning yeah always a great event and race always quality to run streets of London home race in many way . Still that race was a PB so can’t complain really
How long before a race do you warm up? Because i usually start my warmup about 1 hour before the race and one hour before your race you where just chatting to the camara. Also did you just not have a group for the majority of the race? That i think is the most important thing to achive your goal.
Came here to say this! Awesome work on the PB but 100% tattoos will affect performance - I love all of mine but they are a pretty strong trauma for the body as anyone who's gone for a long sitting after a tiny breakfast will attest!
Did this race on sunday, ran most of it right next to that guy from Japan who spoke to you at the end! Was my first ever 10k run in just over 32 mins. You're lucky they posted your number though!
Hi Ben! Awesome vid and PB!! Do you often run races in brand new carbon plates shoes? About to run my first marathon in a pair of vaporflys but have put limited kilometres into the shoes. Owned a pair previously so I know tried and true. Trying to find the line between breaking them in but also not wanting to run the plate through as you know they are so expensive :D
I usually wouldn’t wear them brand new but as I’ve worn alphaflys hundreds of times I knew I wouldn’t have any issues. If it was a brand new model say, I’d certainly want to break them in first just to be sure :)
Congrats on the PB, but also loved Ken from Japan dishing the love out!
Ken if you run and have social media you should drop a link here!
Ken San was kore wo yonderu kana
Ken seems to be a cool guy!

That’s great Martin! Nice work, presume your a big fan of the pro 3s then 🎉
Love the pro 3’s fit my foot shape and gait cycle perfectly I find Nike and adidas to narrow for me
Interestingly my training has been focussed on the Amsterdam 1/2 Marathon in 3 weeks time - Sunday was very much a warm up race to gauge how the 1/2 Marathon training was going - definitely got an answer to that question!
Congrats on the PB Ben! Gotta admit one of my favourite parts of this video was Ken from Japan, what a sweet man.
Congratulations on your PB Ben 🎉. There is probably "Ben is running" action figures in Japan judging by how that guy approached you 😂🇯🇵🏃♂️.
I really enjoy these vlogs with more people in them! Gives a lot of depth to the video!
I managed a "Go on Ben" as I was struggling at 2k and you were gliding past coming back the other way at about 7km. Highlight of my day!
Amazing! Thank you for the support on the course, hope you had a good race

Congrats on your PB !!! Did it too this weekend on the Remich 10K 38:46 not same level but I was so happy 😅 and wore the exact same Alphafly 😉
Nice work! Great shoe choice 🙌🏻

Definitely running to inspire Ben! Well done on the PB! Rapid! 💪😃
Well done Ben, appreciate you taking a few seconds to chat after the race. Managed to cut a few seconds off my PB and snag 6th in my age cat 🥳

Well done Ben. Amazing time especially when you were not feeling good. Keep it uo. Great video
Thanks Jonathan!
Congratulations Ben. Great performance on the day. And a PB to boot.
Thank you Busta 🙌🏻
Congratulations! Great race!
MEG sabotaging the 20 seconds via nasty cold virus!!!!! hahahah. Happy Birthday Meg. Love the flower tattoos.
I know right! She made up for it with the great vlogging so ill let her off this time 😂

Glad you enjoyed it, was pretty surreal 🎉
So crazy that you PB'd even with a cold! There's DEFINITELY more there!
I hope so, certainly wasn’t at 100% but gave it all I had on the day :)
Congratulations on your pb, you are so inspiring I was so excited for this video. Also the thumbnail looks amazing 🎉
Thank you! Took a fair while to put together so I’m glad you appreciate it
Congratulations Ben
THAT is insane!!!!!!!! Great stuff dude!!!!!!
great content as always bro. where would you recommend picking up some original alphaflys?
Great work mate! Extra credit for Ken who had the courage to come up and say hello. ❤
Thank you!

Ah nice one! Glad you enjoyed the race vlog 🙌🏻
Great video mate, is that a new thing they’ve brought out… the Soar Throat? 😉 crushed it, couldn’t quite catch you!
Aha that’s actually a pretty good one 😂
Amazing run, congrats on the PB! You’re insane 🔥🔥
Thank you
Its amazing when you are such a high level of running that even taking a few seconds off the PB is so difficult! Amazing stuff Ben!
'Grats on the PB Ben!
Btw absolutely not a dick if you don't respond when running! People either realize you're in the zone, or that you're moving so fast that the sound waves just aren't catching up
I didn’t even hear my friends I was that deep in the zone! Sound waves, that’s it, I like it 😂
Congratulations! I also did that same race but virtually in Canada! 🇨🇦
Nice work Ben! Hard work pays off!
Thank you Sam!
Such good vibes in your vids mate. Great stuff!
Appreciate it!
Attaboy Ben! Great job, overcame the illness and got it done.
Thanks bud, was lying in bed the night before think ahhh s*** so thankfully it held off. Am now full of cold 😂
Congratulations 🎉
Congratulations Ben! I will try the Greek gyros before Athens marathon. Hopefully I will make a pb!
That sounds like a great idea😂
Well done Ben what a run 💥💥
Congrats 🎊🎉🍾🎈
Thank you!
Great run. Would have loved to be in thise wide open spaces at the front but was weaving through the crowds further back!
Always tough with these bigger races, I always try to get as close as I can to the front to avoid any traffic. Thanks for the support Alan

I had to google the world record to get some perspective. It is 26:11. So, this is absolutely amazing! Serious respect!
Awesome! Congrats!

10:58 is that a cheeky cole running?
IT IS

I like to start my warm up about 1hour/45mins before and then my strides 20/30mins before the gun goes :)
What would recommend for some longer runs for comfort without feeling heavy? Id probably go slow paces to tey and up mileage
It would be great if you could give me recommendations for maybe older models as well or something around $150 or cheaper.
Well done! There’s more to come for you in 2024!!!
Thanks mate! And this year I hope :)😊
Protect Ken
Massive congrats on your PB Ben! I was actually surprised to see you doing a tattoo before a race; hopefully that didn't have an impact on your run!
Thank you! No impact no, if anything it made me faster ;)
Came here to say this! Awesome work on the PB but 100% tattoos will affect performance - I love all of mine but they are a pretty strong trauma for the body as anyone who's gone for a long sitting after a tiny breakfast will attest!
Already watched the result on Cole's channel. Congrats to that great run.
