Hey Zach, been looking trough your videos, but haven´t found a definitive answer. Im looking for the tennis shoe with the absolute most cushoning possible (for a normal foot. Kinda looking for something that reduces impact, with similar cushoning capability to the New Balance 1080 v12 . Any ideas @footDoctorZach ?
Sometimes you forget that a freaking shoe nowadays can impact your performance so much, so many records are being broken, so many people are avoiding injuries, and so may people love that comfort and compression.
While it hurt my heart to see this shoe torn apart, I appreciate the detail that went into this video. And agreed on the conclusion that the longer you are in these the better they will be. Well done!
This is THE best shoe review and analysis I have ever watched on a running shoe. There's a lot of shoe reviewers out there but none as good as this. Well done and thank you!!!
As a Pitt alum who really misses the Burgh and used to run/bike all around the areas filmed here, this video was extra awesome to watch. Thanks for the great content!
Zach is getting better and better. 1. The use of the gremmel with the high grit sand paper, to mimic abrasion. 2. The magnifyed images to see the structures of the upper. 3. And now that foot in the cross section cut away at 3:46 was also very interesting.
I bought these after having fallen in love with the vaporfly 2. I thought they would be the next step up. It took 125-130km under foot before they started to feel great. I just used them for a race last week and they were brilliant! But I loved what you said about cramping and soreness in the initial breaking in stage. I would never risk wearing these new for a marathon…
My wife bought me a pair and I ran 10k the other day 1st run in them. The right trainer rubbed really bad on my heel plus it kinda hurt my inner arch. Sp upset but I am encouraged by your comments plus the video from Zak about bedding them in. Better running sock perhaps as well and maybe give them another go.
54 y/o man, would not be running 50+ mpw, if this shoe did not exist Its a game changer I just discovered your awesome channel while researching Asics Super Blast for easy days
It's a great shoe, but it's such a shame that the alphafly v1 had do "die" for it. I really hoped that the alphalfy 1 would become an all-time classic but no it has been killed and replaced by this shoe... and therefore I hate it. I know that there are people who like it, but to me it's just a good shoe ...the v1 was supreme. I loved the 4mm drop and I loved the air pods being closer to the ground. I loved the small arch area...or to put it in short. Everything that has changed was better in the v1.
So cool to see you getting into some running shoes!! I know you probably don't have enough data to do the best type for every foot type etc but would love to see a top 5 running shoes video. Or a favourite budget pick as comfort and durability are my main priorities in a runner
Hi, Zack! I just want to let you know how helpful your videos are for the running community! I really appreciate your content and I would like to thank you for these videos. Keep it up. Cheers
Just bought myself a pair today, pink rose color,a bit nasty for a men shoe, but it is what it is, its my first switch to Nike after many many years of Adidas devotion, but lately my ultraboost structure is being broken under 550-600 km and that what I do in under two months period. Can't wait to put this one to the test, especially on the rainy day
Great review, I have the Alphafly V1. I have to add a heel pad to increase the drop. I felt like the low drop killed my Achilles Tendon until I added the pads under the heel. I don't have any problem with other shoes. I understand that Alphafly V2 has a higher drop and heel midsole compress less? Do you really feel the higher drop in the Alphafly V2? 🤔
Questions: Why do you heel strike when you run despite the evidence suggesting that heel striking is poor running form? Are you able to mitigate the negative effects with the short strides? Is overstriding the main issue, not heel striking?
Its a bad habit i picked up a while ago- i actually talk about it in the adidas 4dfwd video alot- yeah shorter strides can help but its still just weekend warrior type technique
I have Alphafly 1. I have total heelstrike and Alphafly heel is very soft. Airpods feel very hard comparing to zoomx, so front foot feels too high and hard comparing to soft heel. So feels very un natural to run with heelstrike. Im 82kg about 33min 10km level runner. (triathlete) Have you noticed Alphafly 1 feels same to you, and this 2 version rolls better from heel to forefoot with heelstrike?
I guess the question is how many marathons and hours of training can I get out of these shoes? Will I have to buy multiple pair because that rubber is so thin compared to other running shoes?
Hi Zach, really like your videos and you've even saved me from shin splints caused by me shoes when playing tennis, so thanks! I saw Nobull have released a new court trainer and also some new running shoes. What is your opinion on them? Haven't seen many (if any) reviews about them so quite curious to know if you have heard of them? Thanks!
With the sandpaper test You need to put a weight so the pressure is consistent by using just your hands there’s a big chance to push harder and have inconsistent results…imo
I’m lucky. No blood blister on my first run. By the 3-4 run, shoes able to slide in easy. Forefoot area feeling more roomy. Able to run 1hr for 5 days in a row. I’m wearing a cheap pair of normal Uniqlo white socks for you info.
Your Reviews are Really great and i love the way you explain the functions and technical details of the Shoes you review. And i really appreciate That you cut the shoes in the middle just for us. And i wanzend to ask if you will do a review of the Mb.01 lo as the mids are out of stock
What if shorter miles makes you feel like you ran longer miles? Will they still help with the fatigue more experienced runner gets after more miles but much sooner? I’m not in shape enough for longer mileage but need to pass a run test in a month and looking for anything that will help
You said it was a good shoe for any kind of plantar or ball of foot pain, but the graphic showed you do not recommend these for people with high arches. For me, these two issues go hand in hand, so if the pain is likely due to my high arch, what would you recommend with regard to this shoe?
What an excellent video. Can you tear down the Boston line made by Adidas and compare that to the vapor/alpha ? I wonder what the difference is between the rods by adidas and the carbon plate by Nike
7:00 segment makes it look like you're a giant around miniature joggers 😁 Nice review, very detailed. Any plans on reviewing Newton Running Shoes in the future? Thanks! +1 sub from me
Nice review 👍. I have similar shoes. The heel of these shoes are annoying. Yes, Like sandpaper! There is a silly cushion sewn on against a hard material seam that goes across half way down the heel. I'm going to cut the cushion out and glue some jeans material on the heel and just let that wear in. I'm sick of taping my heels every run (daily). Also the zoom bubble on the forefoot squeaks on every stride. I'm going to try putting some grease where it joins the front midsole part of the shoe. (Nike air zoom x tempo next% flyknit) in fluoro green and blue.
Do you still have those airpocket, i bought some broken alphafly and it has a huge hole in the airpockets. Can i have itt. I can't afford brand-new one.
Hello Doctor Zach! I was just wondering, planning on buying this shoe since my nike tempo% broke (the sole rubber covering the pods cracked, other than that the shoes were great). I read reviews on how there seems to be an arch issue compared to the previous alphafly1 in which common consensus appears to be it's designed for narrow footed runners with high arches (I'm not really sure if I fit that). Not to mention in your video you stated on how it's bad for high arch (in the uppers) and (midsole good for high arch). I'm not really sure with the terminology but I know I'm a forefoot striker that has a high arch, I'm 9.5 in length 3.75 in width, I don't know if I'm over the 2E limit since I can't seem to find any chart on that for nike. But the nike shoes I typically use are on the 8.5 size. I was wondering for any advice? (Also there are rumors on how the alpha 3 might be released sooner than later, should I just wait on that instead?)
if you have the money.. because these have a very expensive price tag.. i think new balance 1080v12 is very good shoes to run if you run with forefoot and also good wears casually like standing up or walking but i love the my Ultraboost 21 more because im more of heel striker.. tho i wore NB1080V12 more casually and its really really comfy for real
Hey Doc, do you have any shoes recommendation for an all-rounder for a beginner? I do a bit of badminton and basketball, should I just buy a basketball shoes?
how are these shoes for walking around all day (not running or standing, just walking, im a photographer and need to be on my foot walking around events all day long though)
Might I suggest the Kobe 6 Grinch Protro vs. Godkiller Kobe 6 Grinch Proto. I just got my pair this week, love them - but need Zach to cut em' in half! 🤣
Wow you actually showed video evidence of the differences between the foot strikers. I could have just Google search but I always wondered how to tell which one you are. I feel like I have to record my feet when I run cuz idk. I feel like depending on the pace, my foot lands on different parts. Is that a thing? To have multiple foot-strikes?
Yep if you start going outside your comfortable pace then usually you reach and heel strike- it’s all about knowing your pace - form will always suffer if you start pushing
Does the sizing fit same like the OG Alphafly? The OG I wore half-size down compared to my Vaporfly. The OG gave me arches pain, what about the Alphafly 2 on this area? Tq for this great review.
I used them for the first time today for a 5K and I ended up with black big toes on both feet although it was worse on my right foot. Do you have any advice on how to prevent that from happening? This is the first time I have gotten black toe and it has never happened with the Vaporflys.
Hi, I hv been a regular runner, although I hv an operated leg due to a fibula fracture just above the ankle and have a titanium plate put there. Been 2 yrs and now I hit about 5 mile every alternate day. Are these shoes good to go for that?
I had sign of blister after running on this shoe around the bottom of my foot, never have any issue before with other Carbon plate shoe. any tips to avoid this?
Does anybody have an issue with fit? I have a wider foot and my TS is size 10. I went with a 10.5 and it’s still tight on the size. I’m not sure if going with an 11 would help if it’s only going to get longer.

The drone got scrambled over the ocean last week so hopefully it gets replaced soon

Its a game changer

Holy moly 54 miles is huge…
Just wanna say I appreciate the effort you've been putting in with all the B-roll footage on these runner reviews, Doc.
That actually means a ton thank you - I think I work harder on the running shoe vids broll than any other just trying to mix it up
to my knowledge, saucony's PWRUN PB is the only other superfoam that is peba based, would love to see a comparison vs zoomx from nike.

Have been waiting for this reviewer to do running shoes. Thanks, Dr.
More to come!
Watching this review after my first run in the Alphafly 3, hoping that a Foot Doctor Zach review is incoming!
finally found a big runner doing running shoes. will def subscribe.

Hi
Awesome review Zach. I checked out the Jordan why not 0.5 video you posted, and i ended up buying it! Thank you
What running shoes would you recommend for chronic exertion compartment syndrome (anterior/lateral)?
This was very informational, and I appreciate every minute and thought you put into it. Great job, keep it up! 👏
I appreciate that!

Glad you enjoyed!

Don’t get it
How smart and creative work on it
What an excellent video.

I wonder what the difference is between the rods by adidas and the carbon plate by Nike
👍👍👍
I think the correct word would be rebound instead of reverb
The Alphafly is known for their arch pain issue. I found that as I pick up the pace and land on the forefoot the problem mostly goes away.
I lifted up the insole and cut out the arch
Physios: barefoot/minimal shoes are best for your feet.
Zach: RESPECT THE RUBBER AND FOAM!!!!!!

Cannot wait for the review of Either Peak Taichi Flash 4.0 from PEAK or AG 3 PRO from 361, those are 🔥💯

Do these shoes run small?
Is this a good shoe for someone with planter fasciitis running wise?
More running/trail shoes on the channel

Great review on these. I just bought them.
Next is Nike PRECISION 5 thanks my idol😇 you are the best in shoes review

good for shin splints mean this shoes make you get shin splints?
These videos are so informative. Superb!!!
Glad you think so!
From a bounciness/energy return perspective, which one you chose? Alpha or vapor?
They’re nearly the same - I’d use the vapor personally
Love the review, nice shots of the Burgh!
Thanks! Glad you noticed
Thanks for this detailed review. Is there any solution to arch pain issue in alphafly next percent 2?
Doc amazing review. Please tell me how you are able to get drone footage of yourself running? DJI with a transmitter? Thanks.
Yup follow program on my drone
for a 10 minute video the amount of data we get from FDZ is ridiculous, this is a one stop shop channel for shoe nerds.
Thanks!
Maybe be a silly question but are these any good for walking?
Nope
@@FootDoctorZach thanks so much for responding
This review is very high quality and insightful, thank you. And I'm not even into shoes nor running.
Thanks! Glad you’ve entered the sneakerverse
Zach, do you think these are necessary to get if you just run marathons as a hobby and not competitively?
if you have the money.. because these have a very expensive price tag..
i think new balance 1080v12 is very good shoes to run if you run with forefoot and also good wears casually like standing up or walking
but i love the my Ultraboost 21 more because im more of heel striker.. tho i wore NB1080V12 more casually and its really really comfy for real
Not necessary by any means IMO
Hey Zach, how are you? Right now, if you would be looking to buy a complete running shoe, what would you get? Help a brother from Europe😅 Thank you 🙏🏻
Super shoes it can made your performance better
Hey Doc, do you have any shoes recommendation for an all-rounder for a beginner? I do a bit of badminton and basketball, should I just buy a basketball shoes?
Id have to see your foot to say
how are these shoes for walking around all day (not running or standing, just walking, im a photographer and need to be on my foot walking around events all day long though)
Eh- I wouldn’t
I don't run, is this shoe comfortable to wear everyday as a sneaker sort of shoe? Thank you.
I wouldn't - zoom fly 5 is though
@@FootDoctorZach Thank you very much.
would love to see a side by side teardown of a legit and fake shoe just to see the difference between them tech wise
Might I suggest the Kobe 6 Grinch Protro vs. Godkiller Kobe 6 Grinch Proto. I just got my pair this week, love them - but need Zach to cut em' in half! 🤣
Hello I have predominant accessory navicular what shoes would you advice me for running from a affordable-mid-expensive example. Thank you
Wow you actually showed video evidence of the differences between the foot strikers. I could have just Google search but I always wondered how to tell which one you are. Does the sizing fit same like the OG Alphafly? The OG I wore half-size down compared to my Vaporfly. The OG gave me arches pain, what about the Alphafly 2 on this area? Tq for this great review.
They fit similar to me in most regards - uppers and midsole feel
Does this shoe help you really run faster or at least easyer?
If you already have a grooved stride then they will help with energy preservation
Great review. Just purchased a pair
Hope they run well for you
I used them for the first time today for a 5K and I ended up with black big toes on both feet although it was worse on my right foot. Do you have any advice on how to prevent that from happening? This is the first time I have gotten black toe and it has never happened with the Vaporflys.
Uppers on these allow a lot of micro motion so I’m not surprised if you may slide forward when you run
Hi, I hv been a regular runner, although I hv an operated leg due to a fibula fracture just above the ankle and have a titanium plate put there. Been 2 yrs and now I hit about 5 mile every alternate day. Are these shoes good to go for that?
I think it depends if you have the stability to wear a minimalist ankle collar with such a high stack
is this bad if i have plantar fasciitis?
Where did you get that color? It's not on their website.
you go to the women's category. It's a unisex shoe
I had sign of blister after running on this shoe around the bottom of my foot, never have any issue before with other Carbon plate shoe. any tips to avoid this?
May just be a mismatch - it’s hard ton customize these unfortunately besides thicker socks
@@FootDoctorZach maybe I'm gonna try anti blister tape and replace the insole. Really hope it's gonna work
Hi regards the good for shin splints can you make review on endorphin pro 3 pls ?
Does anybody have an issue with fit? I have a wider foot and my TS is size 10. I went with a 10.5 and it’s still tight on the size. I’m not sure if going with an 11 would help if it’s only going to get longer.
Yeah same with me- horrible time trying to break the entry in
