Call me nit-picky, but I think the bench top should have been installed after the wall boards had been installed. I'm guessing you'll find a way to fill in those gaps, though. Enjoy your channel!!

Agree, and the shiplap where it gets to the bench appears to sink in a bit like there is a dip in the wall or something. Could be an illusion though.

@@bettheover This may be true, but if you film it and put it on RUclips for the whole world to see, you should expect people to nit pick. I tend to agree with the people who say his work has been sloppy and rushed lately. If I'm doing this job to flip the house, I am finding my savings in less expensive materials and making sure the execution is correct, especially if it's going to be broadcast to nearly a million subscribers.
I hope when you complete this full house you do a "walk-through tour." would love to see it from the perspective as if i was physically walking in it

because of you, i'm about 2 weeks into a complete 1200 ish sq ft basement remodel. i've nearly lost a fingernail, worked until midnight most nights (after work), splinters, water pipe break/water damage from the top floor to the basement at 1040pm and i'm not done yet. but to be serious, i have learned so much, and even though all that is accurate, just minor setbacks and i'm LOVING every minute of it. almost done framing, partially done with electrical (found so many hot, exposed wires/fire hazards) and almost on to drywall. love the content. I actually just came to your page to get a drywall refresher! Keep em coming

The cuts on the shiplap around the butcher block and the rest of the way back to the coat hangers need a little more attention to detail. Otherwise, fantastic work!

You should've put up the ship-lap before installing the cabinets. Now you have those gaps where the boards meet the bench.
I'm currently in the middle of a build just like this in our first floor laundry/mud room; nice to see your process as I'm working through my own! And I know it's been said before by others, but it's definitely helpful to see when there are mistakes or oversights made during a build as unexpected things come up. Makes me feel better about my own mistakes! Looks great!

That cutout of the bench looks sloppy 24:32. Wondering how this could be done better? Maybe the wall board should have been added before the bench, and the bench cut to perfection using a template? Wondering for myself as I am thinking of doing a similar project.
Or just no wallboard in general. The whole ship lap look is outdated anyway. His skills are sub par and definitely don’t help any.

Great video! Those 12”x12” floor tiles that you’re popping up in the first 2ish minutes are from the era of asbestos manufacturing. Recommend you get that tile and the black mastic sent out for testing before you do the rest!! Great video! Stay safe!

I had floor tiles like that in my last place, I took them all out and then was told after that their asbestos, just figured I’d give ya a heads up that that might be what they are.

I don't mean to sound like a jerk but on top the butcher block there is a crack from where you put the shiplap and i just wanted to say as someone who does construction you should've put some white caulking to hide the crack. Either way i love this and it looks amazing and can't wait for more of this series!
Agreed. Is there a benefit to putting the bench and everything in before the shiplap? Wouldn’t it look more seamless if the shiplap was done first?
@@svHockeyStar89yes it would fit a lot better if the shiplap was first then the cabinet because it'd be less noticable gap if there is one because there is less to see where its right next to the doors/drawer faces

First off looks awesome ! Few questions. 1. Do you use pva glue over stained wood? I have use tb3 over minwax n it didn't stick for crap! 2. What finish did you use on the bb top and cabinets? 3. Dude it's cold as hell in your shop! That must mess up your glue time and finish ability right?
Sometimes I think there is little to no planning involved. But you sure get it done fast!
I like the videos and seeing how you do projects even though I hate 70% of the designs/colors you choose. I definitely prefer modern designs the most. Most of your colors choices make your projects look modern in the year 2000. Keep up the hard work though. I respect the craftsmanship either way.

Have you checked for asbestos in the tiles? Can almost guarantee that there is asbestos in them. Have worked with asbestos demolition and come across tiles like this often. Be careful, don't drag the dust home with you!

So I read some of the comments in the fireplace rehab video and a couple from this one and boy do you have alot of keyboard warriors! Some of em get real personal saying your wife is spoiled, doubtful if you're moving into this home when done to include all the "I would have done it this way" comments.... Im surprised you havnt shown the busy body's more love before this post haha! That being said, it's non of our buisness what you do with this house... I'd like to think we're all on here to learn some things and disregard what doesn't work for us. But I'm asking too much I know. And if I'm being honest, what man DOESN'T try to provide everything and then some to the ones they love? That doesn't make them spoiled. And as for the way you do things, one of the BIGGEST takeaways I get from each one of your videos is you let's get it done attitude. Its really inspiring to watch someone who may not have all the answers dive right in reguardless. It gets me off my ass with my projects. Keep doin you, can't wait to see a final whole house vid on this, but untill then, thank you for the education!

Why isn't it heated in the house and garage?
Use the drawer handle locations to screw through the face to temp. hold then attach from the back. Remove those screws, drill, appropriate size pilot hole for handle hardware. That way you don’t have that random hole in the middle of your drawer face

Hey, those tiles you’re ripping up are 100% asbestos!!!!!!!!!!!! you only tested Drywall, laminate flooring and insulation. Those tiles are 100% asbestos. I do this for a living bro
I know you're learning, so I give you a lot of slack regarding all of your decisions. Do as you wish but could you try to improve your carpentry and other trade skills? I can see every cut corner and it's a bit difficult to watch. This presentation for example, you put all that work into it and then wreck it with the wainscoting cuts by the seat/shelf. I'm glad that you don't hide the flaws. It adds a lot of legitimacy compared to many other YT presenters. Sooner or later, I see their mistakes that never get mentioned so I'm glad that you "own" yours. It really is commendable these days.
