      In the name of improvisation Hariharan sings his own songs differently at different times. That's bad....a song is a product of the composer and lyricist....a minor improvisation is ok in live shows...
      Totally changing the meter and feel is actually song assasination. That's not creativity.
      An already recorded and famous song should always be sung as it is! That's my take.

    • @royalprince5878
      @royalprince5878 Год назад +13

      @@sudhakariyer14 Improvisation is good. Shows the expertise of singer but that can't be done blindly for the sake of it. Different pitch, tone and specs which kills originality. Personally watching live concerts for the past 15 years (mostly online). I find for present singers, Karthik is a fine musician who sings very well in live. Improvises only when there is a need to. Otherwise stay ori. Never take unnecessary risk. Although Hariharan is veteran in the industry, I think he should learn from his junior on not to irritate and annoy audience with shrilling voice and irritating singing

    • @sriramsurendran
      @sriramsurendran Год назад +12

      @@royalprince5878even I don’t like improvisation. But unfortunately many music lovers come to concert not to hear the exact same song, they can do that elsewhere or through cds or RUclips. They like to hear their favourite singer do some magic with their favourite songs.

      If you had seen one Arr interview in Tamil, he said many musicians started to incorporate his style of music, therefore he intentionally left his old style of groove- catchy kinda songs. As hariharan said Arr employed strokes on a canvas. Tapestry of layers which ultimately ends with a vibrant colourful painting.

    • @albhem_eh
      @albhem_eh 8 месяцев назад +1

      @@sumanshekar4777 Exactly! I'd this era of his music, he's mostly giving in to his experimental improv side where he's actually exploring all the different musical styles there is and trying to incorporate in it. And he himself said after 2000 he wanted to have this approach, even if it means he'll take a hit in popularity.
      Cause doing only groovy songs with a hook will also pigeonhole any artist too long run and he'll be repetitive. And I'm glad he's doing that and i also wish he does more independent studio albums where he can showcase his improv skills and love for jazz like he did in *Connections* album. *Mylapore Blues* still haunts me to this day(and I'm a jazz connoisseur).
      Ik he's doing an orchestral album with his Firadus Orchestra which will have 16 tracks in it and will release as singles throughout this year. So I'm intrigued about it.

    I think most ppl misunderstood me. I am definitely not against improvisation....i like listening to Malkauns, bhairavi, darbari, shivaranjini etc in many different ways that it is sung. All bandishes are nice.
    But when it comes to film songs that have become cult songs....then they become monumental....something like Tajmahal or Eiffel tower or Tanjore temple.....i dont like people drawing those monuments differently.
    The artist cannot say its my creativity so I have added few floors or minars to TajMahal.....
    Take a bandish ....sing as you like.
    But i like people singing pal pal dil ke paas as kishoreda sang.
    New singers try remixes .....but they perish from memory in few weeks time.
    Again it is my personal view. I am definitely not saying, I am right. Its just my preference!

    Rahmans old songs never used to be slow poison.... they were instant poison...the slow poison is just an excuse for his mediocre songs .....he needs to create the 90s brand of music now....

      Exactly who can say Chaiyya Chaiyya Rangeela Re Barso Re Megha Muqabala Ye Haseen Waadiya Taal Se Taal Mila Tu Hi Re are slow poison They were instant poison that hits your heart at the very first second of any particular song of Rehman that I mentioned

      @@AaushKumar-ob6wc seems like you have just heard 2% of his discography. He must have composed close to 800 tracks now, for nearly 150 films. I myself have only about 450 songs of his, in my playlist and is still surprised when a new album comes out to see what new experimentation he has done this time.

      I am just talking about the major songs that defines his career to the masses or north Indian audience

      @AaushKumar-ob6wc I know, that's why I am telling you that most of his songs, even during the 90s, have been experimental and rejected by the masses. The masses celebrate only his selected discography like Roja, Dil se, Taal, Rangeela, etc.

    Sadly AR's compositions in the last few years is melodywise very average or even poor and complicated orchestrisation....so now we still talk of his nineties films.
    The indianness is missing. The folk feel is missing. Catchy phrases are missing. Beautiful interludes as in lagaan, Roja are missing.
    Law of diminishing marginal utility had caught up. It happens to all music directors....sooner or later they run out of original tunes....it happened with RD....LP...and now with AR.
