Okay, let's assume for a minute that the 003 is well equipped and meets Nimitz rather than the Ford. Now it's the oldest against the newest carrier. While the fortunes of war will on rare occasions, favor the weaker over the stronger (think Midway), that is generally not the case. The Chinese would be at a severe disadvantage against the US Navy. The Americans have over 100 years of experience of operating carriers, and have used their carriers thousands of times to attack enemies. Okay, let's do a check here and ask how many times have the Chinese used their carriers against an enemy (the wind blows across the hot desert while we wait for the Chinese guy to think of a lie to save face)? The answer, of course, is zero! Now, let's assume both carriers suffer hits and damage control is working feverishly to put out the fires. Which Navy has ships that have been built tough from actual war experience, and which Navy doesn't know how to deal with battle damage? In the end the 003 will be on the bottom, while the Nimitz will lick her wounds as her repair crews get planes quickly back into the air and clear the ocean of foolish Chinese admirals that thought they were a match for the US Navy.
I'd be impressed if China's carrier made it out of their territorial waters without breaking down. And unlike what they claim, thats not very far at all.

US Navy has Air superiority. China doesn't have the real world experience or combat experience. Plus I can bet one thing the US Navy has a huge advantage that China doesn't have, Our Naval Aviators are trained to fly by instruments which means we don't need daylight to fly. A huge advantage over anyone. We learned our lessons well thanks to the Japanese Imperial Navy teaching us this hard lesson starting with when they brought us into WWII. It was brought to the attention of the power that be that we needed to learn precision bombing and increase carrier forces 5 years before the attack on Pearl Harbor. At the time we had a formidable Navy with lots of ships, and a pretty big Army as well. That is how we fought our wars until that point, we didn't focus on the air, shoot we didn't even have an air force that was run by the Army. The powers in charge disagreed with the information presented to them, a decision that would haunt the Navy on December 7, 1941. After the attack on Pearl Harbor, Military strategy changed and the realization that we needed to learn precision bombing was proven by the Japanese. IT is one of the reasons why our pilots and Naval Aviators are trained the way that they are. I am sure in a few years the Chinese will become a formidable opponent but right now, they are still learning and building. I wouldn't say they are not a threat but they have a lot to learn.
