One thing I wanted to add about transferring Pokémon that would have invalid 'met locations':
There's a chance it would never end up getting detected, since after the transfer happens, it's new info would be "Caught in FireRed, Met in the Pal Park" meaning it would never get detected as being in a weird area, like Mudkip originating from Pallet Town. I simply don't know for sure right now!
I can guarantee you it wouldn't because the location data is not preserved when transferring. And I'm actually kind of surprised you didn't know that
Actually yes it would transfer
Always funny to see people like @orsonzedd speak confidently as if what they're saying is fact but turns out they're completely wrong 😂😂
My friend found a shiny absol when training, and the time on his ds was incorrect. We transferred it all the way to home and it said it was met by the same transfer thing and at the correct time. He gave it to me which i gave him another pokemon of his choice from my home for it, so there is that. Locations aren't saved
Question! Can you transfer Pokemon from fake emerald to authentic Pokemon HGSS or platinum?
I’ve set up trading between Emerald and the rom hack Inclement Emerald several times and got interesting results. Whenever it was anything past gen 3 it displayed as a weird question mark glitch mon that crashed the game upon looking at the summary screen. The actual gen 3 Pokemon are completely switched around because the index numbers were changed in the rom hack too, so you have stuff like Zangoose on vanilla Emerald appearing as Latias in Inclement Emerald. And some very early gen 4 Pokemon turn into stable gen 3 Pokemon on the other game as well. It is actually possible to trade a Pokemon from Inclement to the main game as long as they don’t know moves past gen 3, since those just crash the game upon their names being loaded.
Yooo Decamark mentioned! But that is actually super interesting. I was wondering how much editing it would take to make the move work but I forgot it is literally a glitch move, would be super fun to have as an ACE pokemon if you're into that stuff, may make new effects that normal glitch moves don't... Now I might try it, do you think that the chaos would occur the same on an emulator?
@@martianidot I did all of this on an emulator so sure
@@four-fn9cd Which emulator if you don't mind me asking?
@@martianidot m-gba
I actually know why this happens. Generation 3 has 65,000~ It's the 16-bit limit number. Which is used to store Pokemon. The game simply maps everything to something in its own code. Which a lot of games do. Tails the blue echidnas comes to mind from Sonic. Also the white one from Chaotic, which is just Tails. But the game doesn't actually have enough code to make him playable.
Well, I don't think all custom moves would crash a lot of them probably would. Since it probably indexes to a lot of moves which are control variables. Which changed the game's ram. Often leading to a crash. There are also just a lot of random moves that upon loading their names crashes. Also, if the ROM hack just replaced a move with another move, you get the original move. Like if Leer was replaced with I don't know Flip turn or something. You would just get Leer when traded. If you ever messed around with other Gen 3 glitches, Like putting a Pokemon with no moves into the contest. Will create a glitch move that will crash the game. It's actually pretty hard to find a glitch that creates a move that won't crash the game.
To my knowledge ROM hacks where they’re majorly changed, or in Pokémon unbounds case using CRFU, should not be able to trade and would give a bad egg if you were to even successfully trade. for that mudkip if you traded up to gen 4, it would assign it’s met location 0x37 which is Pal Park and disregard the original met location
What if you traded that hacked mudkip past gen iv
Afaik , Pokemon Crystal Clear was specifically made so it has trading support. I've even heard it can work with stadium 2?
I’ve got a physical crystal clear with a battery and trades work fine for my authentic 1st and 2nd gen games I have stadium 2 but haven’t tried it yet to see if it will read it I know with emulators it works but have to boot up my n64 and see
Does Crystal dust work too?
I caught all 252 mons on crystal clear and they are all on home now
I remember convincing my parents to get my a physical copy of Pokemon Quartz 16 years ago and trading over anything I could from Emerald and Fire Red to see what they turned into. It was super fun until the cartridge decided to just wipe the save and I lost 3 games worth of mons 🙃
Womp womp
I remember a store in china town in Toronto with pokemon romhack cartridges
Inside the cartridge, there's a battery that allows the static ram chip to keep the save. If you replace that, everything should be fine and maybe you can find your old save. I don't know if you can find your old save, but I do know that you can replace the battery.
The saddest part of old games - if you weren't prepared for dead batteries, you'll eventually open the game and everything will be gone.
@@the_AtomicPunk Sadly the battery being dead means it's dead, no recovery. If the device can't read a save, there's nothing in the world that can read it.
I traded a Firegg from a physical ROM hack cart of Pokemon Quarts. The Firegg became a Torchic, but her stats seem to be identical.
That's cause every Pokemon in gen 3 is replaced in Quartz lol. So, their national dex number in Quartz equivalates to the real mons nat dex number
That SP has seen some things! xD
I’ve had no issue trading from Ultra Violet to Sapphire/Leaf Green 🤷🏻♂️
I remember the rom hack of rse that my cousin used to have. It's called Frigo Returns. If you talk to a specific Pokémon Center npc, you'll get Frigo out of nowhere. And if you rock smash the rocks north of Mauville, you'll get Dryaz instead of Geodude. Those two had total different sprites, too.
Now who are Frigo and Dryaz? Well he traded them to me in my Italian copy of Ruby. (I'm Southeast Asian but one of my aunts who works in italy gave me that game). Going back to those two. Frigo is Articuno and Dryaz is Kangaskhan.
Did I mention you could get multiple Frigo when talking to that npc as long as you don't have a Frigo in your party?
Some romhacks are compatible, some aren't
Can you name some compatible rom hacks?
Pokemon Recharge Yellow is a ROM hack that can allow you trade between Ruby, Sapphire, Emerald, and Leaf Green. It does not work with Fire Red. I traded my Graveler to Leaf Green to get Golem. Funny thing is despite all the trading, I only got a single bad egg in Emerald. But with the DMA cheat and Delete Box 14 cheat, I then moved the Bad Egg to Box 14, turned it invisible, and then delete it in box 14
@@Kali_KrauseWhat about Pokemon Too Many Types?
thanks dude for sparing us the padding
@@deadlydemon9168 Radical Red used to be compatible to trade with FRLG
Dude, I've been searching for a YT channel just like yours! Trying weird and interesting stuff with repro, romhacks and legit carts, scratches my itch! Keep it up!
if you have a cartridge ripper you can use pkHex to trade between the cartridges with compatible pokemon
In the few rom hacks I’ve played I’ve only found trading compatibility with these
1. Emerald Kaizo
2. Emerald Crest* only Kanto/Johto Pokémon
3. Orange Islands
4. Shiny Gold
Add Recharged Yellow too
I was surprised when I tried this myself. My authentic copy of Emerald was able to trade with my fake copy of Sapphire.
I actually just beat unbound the other day. Best rom hacks I've played in a long time.
I’m hyped to actually play through it more, I know *nothing* about it!
Can you try doing trade between emulators it will help a lot of us (both mobile and pc)
Something interesting is that many ROM hacks do disable any multiplayer features by removing the multiplayer section of the Pokémon Centers
Which is a shame cause Liquid Crystal would be REAL useful to complete the national dex since you have access to the Johto Pokémon which are by far the hardest ones to obtain in the third gen as the sevii islands are quite late in the game in FR/LG and doesn't even have ALL of them, and R/S/E barely has sum few Johto Pokémon here and there like some wild Scarmory in the north part of the map, while Liquid Crystal could make possible all including the legendaries (don't know about mythicals tho)
So i was about to order liquid crystal...it doesnt support trading?
You can always use shiny gold instead I guess. The "romfixer" version has Lugia too iirc and it also has the celebi event
@@deadlydemon9168 Trading actually IS possible in pokemon liquid crystal! The only thing is you have to be in the trading center in Goldenrod City specifically, as that is the only way to trade in original crystal.
Be very careful though, as the save screen after trading in crystal doesn't actually save your game. This makes it very useful for dupeing pokemon and items, but can lead pokemon to being deleted if you aren't careful.
Also worth noting is that since liquid crystal is based off of FireRed, it is only able to trade with FireRed or LeafGreen games, and cannot trade with any of the 3rd gen Hoenn games (R/S/E)
@@deadlydemon9168 I've played Pokémon Liquid Crystal, and I can confirm that they removed the trading room from this ROM hack.
@@EP1CxEMAN08 thanks man
It has a lot to do with the index values of the Pokemon and moves. For instance, Gen 1 glitch Pokemon traded to Gen 2 games would become whatever Pokemon the index value equalled. I think that would still be the case between deep rom hacks and original, but perhaps in reverse. After all, index values no longer match.
The most interesting part about this is you can trade certain glitch pokemon from gen 1 like 4 4hy from pokemon yellow would give you sunflora in a gen 2 game, though I don't remember if they would have messed up stats or not, just be careful with the names, if the names don't terminate it will probably still break your gen 2 game because it may be considered a nickname and will have the original glitch name, it's been a while since I watched the video about it, it was either from theZZAZZglitch or chickasaurusGL (sorry for the long comment)
Yeah, I remember that. For example, the glitchmon 4 . . is a pure water type and if it's under level 100, can safely be transferred to Gold/Silver/Crystal and become Totodile!
The fact that any rom hack at all is compatible is super surprising to me.
Dude is risking a trade with a low battery lol.
I’ve actually been wondering this for a while, but for the life of me can’t find my old link cable. Thanks for answering the burning question!
For sure! A few months back I had to order some third-party cable to get a different video done 😂
Dude this has been on my mind for so long
Damn, a cartridge for Unbound. How the hell does it work on your SP?
I've been waiting for someone to do a video on this for a long time
I used to trade between a rom hack of pokemon fire red (it was an early usum kind of stuff, so they used the regional variant kind of stuff to add new mons instead of new dexes, since that was what was possible back then) and the original fire red. I tried trading a toxapex and found out it was a changed tentacruel. It always crashed my game when trying to trade, but only this year i found out toxic spikes weren't in base gen 3, and that's why the base game broke the name of tspikes and crashed upon getting the unexistent data. If I were to trade that insanely bulky version of the tentacruel and EV trained the hp, I would have been unstoppable, but damn, greed for a simple hazard set me back.
Hold up, Legends Arceus for the GAMEBOY?? I’m gonna need a video on that good sir
At least between rom hacks, i can say that I was able to trade between Radical Red and Unbound, likely due to both using the CFRU+DPE (Complete FireRed Upgrade and Dynamic Pokémon Expansion). From what I remember there are specific Pokémon that can't be transferred, but for the most part the versions I was using were compatible.
Can you try using a fake emerald copy with the emerald transfer on heartgold
No because the cartridge doesn't match what the game expects to read in the GBA slot.
@@samachu09 oh
@@1238Bitit doesn’t work non of the fake 3rd gen games read on Pal Park
There could be the possibility of trading with rom hacks using something like a gameshark cartridge. The trading rooms are probably still in the game, but without the warp. maybe one could use a gameshark to change one warp location into multiplayer floor.
Impossible
@@DrakoNotDraco Why?
I think it could be possible if the trading room is still in the game's data.
Recently got a flora sky cart and beat the game. I was able to trade my team into Sapphire, including the shiny shamin which became a koffing. I had to change their moves in gen 4/5 to make them all fully legal but they're now safely in pokemon home
I have a bulbasaur that knows recognised electric moves as it was traded to my pearl from chaos black in which the fakémon was grass electric type.
Any CFRU hacks can trade and battle each other. I only know and have traded 4 CFRU hacks; Unbound, RadRed, TLFR, and Saiph 2. Some doesn't goes smooth but they did connect (i.e. you can enter the link room but the chance of successful trade or battle are depends)
In regards to compatibility, I feel like it would work as long as the game doesn’t alter the Pokémon’s data. If it is just sprite/dialogue/map edits it will probably be fine, but changing the pokemon data would cause the other game to start looking for data in the wrong places. Idk though, might be wrong on that
You can trade between radical red and unbound. Might be possible to then trade from Radical Red to Fire Red.
The mudkip will still be legal, I was able to transfer 3 shiny kyurems from the same save file through pokebank
Man what tf happened to your sp lol
Also i got a fake heart gold few months back, curious if it'll work with a pokewalker but i'm scared to buy a pokewalker if it doesn't work
It won’t work. Real heart gold carts have infrared that allows you to connect to the Pokéwalker. Fake ones wouldn’t have that.
I was trying to ask someone if a Fake Pokémon Black can trade with an Authentic Copy of Black 2. But no one makes a video about it.
Funny thing is the Mudkip is legal as far as Gen IV is concerned when it overwrites the met data to pal park lol
What happens if the ‘real’ copy of FRLG doesn’t have the National Pokédex and tries to receive a Hoenn (or Johto) Pokémon?
Trade likely blocked
I know that if the trade were to be successful, the traded Pokémon wouldn't be able to evolve if it evolves into a non-Kanto Pokémon.
This 100% comes down to whether the rom hack kept the original serial protocol in their game, and whether or not the mons read as valid data to the legit cartridge.
Its not a complex problem to solve, and you could add this functionality to nearly any game. A talented programmer could ever allow ds games to trade with gbc games.
I had a Pokemon Brown bootleg cartridge, it was able to be used on Pokemon Stadium on the N64. GB Tower didn't work but I could use all my pokemon in battles and use the lab to move Pokemon and items about. The version of Brown I had on cartright was an older version, so it only had the original 151 pokemon. I suspect if I had the newer version of Brown it wouldn't work at all. Might be an idea for another video for you to try out.
also some Pokémon wont trade over. for example when I played orange islands I tried trading Crstal Onix and it wont trade for me
what if you traded crystal Onix from orange over to pokemon soothing silver or migrated it i forgot the term for that would that work?
One interesting thing would be if games like emerald and emerald kaizo could trade since it only altered stats and movepools iirc
Can a Pokemon gb or gbc rom hack cartridge work on a official cartridge
I bought a fake ruby on ebay and can't get it to trade with my genuine emerald. Really unfortunate
I was able to trade between Pokémon renegade platinum rom on a modded 3ds and an authentic copy of platinum. I’m sure that the same legality issues are present for Pokémon that aren’t naturally found in platinum.
Reminder home detect illegal pokemon
This was fully mentioned
So i want to get a bit more technical. So i have been trading pokemon from my fake soul silver copy to my real heart gold and platinum saves for a while. Will pokemon from the fake copy be seen as legit if i kept them in the heart gold game or, would it mess some things up? I'm mainly asking because i really miss my team from the fake copy and i want to see them again.
yeah should be legit even tho the game is fake its still the original game. the only time pokemon have issue is when they have moves they should not or the met location is impossible like mew from route 3 for example there is no legit way to get a mew on rt 3
the fake copy is just simply a dump of the actual game. All the core data is still the same.
This video should have been a lot shorter.
Okay mr 20 second vid.
but video essays run in white people's blood
@jaydentoon9092 fr the video has a very responsibly length

Sorry that TikTok ruined your attention span sending prayers your way or sum bro can't stand 5 minutes 😔🙏
cool video man
Thank you!
I’m wondering if you can trade between radical red cartridges if they’re on the same version
Wtf, that's awesome! Please tell me where you got the Legends Arceus cartridge!!
Thank you it because I have think it can trade a rom hack to a real copy
when I tried this myself. I found out some games work and some don't they have to have trade center still there.
Sadly, trying to trade from Unbound only gives the main game bad eggs, I've tested it
Interesting that it lets you get into the trade menu despite the Pokémon being invalid, probably due to Pokédex entry numbers not matching or something similar
Bro was chewing his gba
Other than Ass version, does anyone know what roms work with the real games?
Wondering the same thing. So far the ones I have found succesful have been ultraviolet and liquid Crystal (you can only send Pokémon one way from liquid Crystal because something to do with trade support and memory being flash-based.) Turns out you can use flash-based cartridges for item duplication exploits pretty easily.
I gave my friend on Omega Ruby a Bulbasaur from Sinking Sapphire
Hmm, here I was planning on trying my Pokemon Vega and my Pokemon LeafGreen or Sapphire...
I know i'm here late, but I wanted to know: If I have a pokémon from a romhack, or obtained in an emulator, and I transfer it to a real copy of pokémon and take it to the daycare to breed some pokémon eggs, will the pokemon that hatches from de egg will be considered as fake? or as a legal pokemon?, could I transfer that hatched pokémon to the newest pokémon games and will it be considered as a legal pokémon?
just curious can Pokémon go from unbound to dppt through the pal park
No i tried with fire red and unbound on my emulator and got a bad egg
You Cant Trade a RH to Pal Park in D/P/PL/HG/SS
i have 1 RH Cartrage and it Erased the Save Data of the RH Cartrage when i Tried
Its Chaos Black BTW
I did this with Pokemon karosu a couple of months ago, it wouldn't let me trade between emerald because you can't get the ruby and sapphire in the game.
but you can trade with another copy of fire red, thats how i evolved my gangar in my playthrough.
but, i was wondering what would happen if i tried to trade my galade from karosu into vanilla fire red.
Unbound has online trading if you have it on an emulator
I used to on my old android. The emulator let you connect the games by Bluetooth
TRADE BETWEEN TWO ROM HACKS
test if you can access the Rom hack pokeboxes when transfering to a DS game like Diamond and Pearl
But can you transfer Pokémon to the Gen4 games?
Using PKSM seems to be the best way to transfer pokemon from a rom hack to a real game
I've always wondered if you could try it with Mewthree X.
i need all those dam rock that are really different
were you biting the console when you were a child? 😂 i did it on my very first DS
Hahah not that I remember! We had no pets either so it must've just gotten dropped a lot or something
can a GBA Rom hacked game trade Pokemon to a real copy of Pokemon Platinum(or any other ds Pokemon Game?)
Where do you even get something like that Unbound cart? Ive been tempted to play through it on tue GBA

Will this work for a prism cart to crystal?
Now I want to know if it works for an emulator
