I walked into Hammerjacks back in 87 89ish and Rick was sitting at the bar drinking a beer I was overwhelmed with joy like a little kid when I saw him and (run)walked up to him and said High I loved there music etc. and we shook hands and he was not at all bothered by it, he was so cool what a great guy! He seemed like a really peaceful dude!
got to see Def Leppard back in the day: the tour before the accident and then the tour afterward. awesome guy to overcome such and injury and awesome bandmates to stand with him during the healing. whoever the punk is that did this to Allen needs a good swift kick, regardless of the 'why'.
Allen has played with Def Lepoard for over 35yrs, is one of the best rock drummers of all time, & has one arm. Not easy to do. Why anyone would attack this humble, amazing human who has entertained the masses for decades, I cannot fathom. People can be so evil. Hope he heals mentally & physically, & receives the respect & peace that he deserves

Mental illness is one thing and probably the reason behind the attack but if it wasn't glorified like a badge of honor these situations would not be on the rise. I do struggle with mental health issues and I do my damndest to not use it as a crutch or excuse for doing or not doing things. Medication is tricky at best and isn't always the answer. We all struggle from time to time, to varying degrees. That certainly doesn't magically absolve us of our duty to act lovingly towards one another, or free us from the consequences of our words or actions. I genuinely hope this kid actually manages to get whatever help it is that he needs, after he gets out.
