With all his own addictions and life challenges, Matthew still managed to put a smile on faces of millions of people for many years and make them laugh. I wish him well!
You guys should know by now that if you don’t follow the Hollywood narrative you end up on the outs. Over the years I’ve seen him attend hockey games in LA he’s quiet but very normal he would at least give you time a day can’t say the same for the others! Not only that his cast mates were called out for hailing Satan before each taping perhaps he’s a Christian
Well he was making millions of dollars to do that. Addiction isn’t going to be as tough when you have unlimited money for good drugs. He was feeling great when you seen him on camera because he was high
He apparently had a relapse of his painkiller addiction recently, his pancreatitis was bad since early 2000s, maybe he's on meds or back to his addictions.

Matthew, through all your pain, you provided laughter way beyond the abilities of most. I remember watching Friends and thinking what an amazing talent you were. I can say, without hesitation, you took me to a lighter place with your humor. Rest in peace. You will be missed.
It's only those that are in pain are the ones that make us laugh to forget their own problems. Matt Perry had his issues but he never gave up and helped thousands and even though he gone he'll still help people when they watch the show read his book or anything else he has done. He was a good person and an inspiration
Dude had a stroke from the vaccine just like a ton of people. Vaccine took out my mother. My chiro is all messed up and slurring. He clearly had a few mini strokes.
Can we all just appreciate that this man is ALIVE? And even able to understand what’s going on around him? I mean Jesus Christ. The poor man survived over a decade of raging substance abuse and we SAW IT in real(ish) time. A decade of his life spent bouncing in and out of rehab and his former costars still love him like they did day one almost 30 years ago so can we all just lay off and appreciate him being able to participate at all?
The comments about him are kind and compassionate, encouraging and hopeful. So what are you talking about when you say “lay off him” when people are expressing care, kindness and appreciation for him?
We were expecting Chandler Bing the character, instead we got Matthew Perry the man, a person that went through a lot in live, struggling against addiction and the pressure of being a legend. I have a lot respect for this man, he faced is demons live in front of the world knowing that people would comment , for me there’s no friends without Matthew Perry, so thank you for making this reunion possible ( friends is the best show of all time)
@@websrfr8454 Me too, I have the original box set without commercial edits. Thank you warner and thank you youtube tv for editing episodes. Because of this, I refuse to watch friends on tv because these companies want to censor media -- not opening the door to political talk, just my two cents. Last time I saw friends on youtube tv, it was the episode mike proposed and the entire scene was cut short only to the portion where he proposed. I ripped a movie dvd in the past on windows, I have to find out how to do it on a mac so I can have all of the friends episodes on a flash drive to view anywhere without streaming dependence.
Sigh. People asking for this “reunion” for years and 2 minutes into them promoting it people are negatively jumping on the cast. And we wonder why they wanted no part of it for almost 2 decades.
Yo, give this man the respect he deserves. While transparent, he doesn't ask for accolades for his philanthropy or his sobriety. He is one of the most selfless actors you will ever find.
I wasn't happy to see matthew Perry isn't happy! But Now I got it, Our Champ is suffering now and we have to also pay him back the smiles he given us🥳😁😉 Good Work Chandler! ❤️❤️ Bro You're the Coolest!
People are disrespecting him. It is not pity, it is called empathy, understanding, humanity, concern. I don't lose sleep but I love him for all the laughs/entertainment he has provided me and not just in Friends.
Matthew Perry has been an actor that I’ve known since 1987. To anyone younger than 30, just remember that you’ve got a lot of life to live. With every year, you change. We don’t understand anyone struggle unless you live it.
As a fellow addict I can say that the fight is never over. There just is nothing comparable to the feelings and "easings" that drugs give to people who suffer from addiction disease. Since the drugs are stronger than the love for yourself, somebody accepting me as who i am instead of judging or shaming on what i use, is the best thing someone can do for me, until I find enough self-respect to try to not destroy myself again and again. Edit; and it's a real shame that media spins and brings up these problems of talented actors and musicians because it causes ostracization for their working in future.
In an interview I watched many years ago he revealed his addiction that he was so out of it he couldn’t remember filming season 7 or 8. But he went to work and just worked.
This video is heartbreaking but also it is so so heartwarming that he uses his experience to help other people who are struggling. This man is incredible and I have so much respect for MP.

Given the news I woke to, here in the UK today, this is quite a poignant video to stumble upon. Such a sad and untimely ending, for a talented guy who was doing his best to help others in a difficult situation. RIP Matthew Perry/Chandler Bing 💜
It’s really sad that because he’s been open about his struggles people jump to that instead of showing empathy. He doesn’t sound like he’s slurring or under the influence it sounds like he’s having a hard time talking. It must be frustrating for him.
That interviewer telling him he "chose" addiction was insensitive and so completely misguided I want to scream. Unfortunately, that's the attitude of the ignorant majority. They just don't get that substance abuse changes the structure and operation of your brain and fighting it without help verges on the impossible for many, many addicts. You have to use the only tool in your arsenal to fix damage done to that tool. To say that it's hard is a gross understatement. It's existential. It's like battling a starving Bengal tiger for survival and the battle is by no means a foregone conclusion.
@Real Deal you’re making an assumption. He’s had speech problems for years. Just because he’s had past addiction issues doesn’t mean that’s what is going on.
@@jessmarie525 exactly. For me it almost sounds like he has dentures or a lip plate put in. My mom lost all her teeth from Lupus and needed dentures at 18 years old. Matthew Perry just needs our support! So much respect for him being brave and enough to do this. He is baring his soul knowing people will have things to say. Matthew Perry is a LEGEND!!!! ❤️ him so much
I am happy Matthew is surrounded by 5 friends who will always love him no matter what. Many people struggling with challenges and addiction do not even have family members supporting them. It does not matter how you look, it matters how you make others feel. Perry emplifies this notion.
God be kind to him, he's been to the edge of madness and back with what the drugs and drinking did to him. I sincerely wish him well. He deserves respect for his efforts for helping himself and helping others. God bless him.

My brother died a couple months ago due to addiction at the age of 34. He had been battling addiction for 16 years and unfortunately addiction won. So honestly people should be giving this man a standing ovation daily for his strong will not to return to the demon's that are indeed still within. How do I know this because I too am an addict and have been clean now for 5 years but everyday is a struggle and it's the choices you make on whether that demon is going to rear it's ugly head again or you're going to keep it at bay. That saying one day at a time is a legit saying for sure. 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽 Good for you Matthew Perry!
So glad Matthew Perry is still alive after all his struggles & painful recovery. So sad that people are pointing out all his negative side effects or weaknesses without taking into account his battles to stay sober, drug free and above all, alive. Thank you Matthew Perry for making a difference in other people's lives who need help like you did. KEEP GOING. STAY STRONG. God bless you.
Well, hate to say this but, if you don’t or have never known a alcoholic then, it’s not just about being just overwhelmed with emotion. Eventually if a alcoholic and drug abuser continues to uses over a number of yrs eventually it catches up with you and not only does it effect your mental state but, it also will end up effecting your health. Because, I seen it happen to people.
He's been battling drug and alcohol addiction for a very long time, as early as Season 3. Where's he's at now, none of us can know. But it doesn't look good.

People are expressing their caring for him. Please excuse us we mean no harm. Yes I agree words of confidence and positivity are beneficial but so are expressions of love and concern. Thanku for pointing that out though. Media can draw out anything to be read with sensations that doesn't always have good intent in mind.
Gosh yes..chill the hek out everyone and worry more about people who are actually in your lives who might be struggling and who you could actually help.
Am I the only who thinks videos like this, though informative, might actually affect his self esteem because of people taking notice of his slur? I mean, yeah we know he has struggled w addiction in the past, but we shouldn't necessarily point stuff out like this right?
No he is basically asking for help. He is under the influence and he knows everyone knows. With a addict you have to call a spade a spade. I hope he gets better.
Possibility of a stroke for sure. Definitely not under the influence again. If he could act and do some of the best acting of his career for 5+ years while blacked out and not arising suspicion (besides the drastic weight loss) I highly doubt an interview would be such an issue and be so noticeable. At the end tho.... David talking about how time changes people, Matt looking over at him acknowledging what he’s saying, and Matthew looking down because he knows how things change people..... That’s just something else.

Do you know what? I'm so pleasantly surprised and really glad that most of the comments on here are super respectful and nice about Matthew Perry. The journey that he's been through must have been absolutely horrendous. If anyone even tries to be cruel or laugh at his expense then I can almost bet a million bucks that they will either know a major hiccup in their life or guide someone they love through it. Matthew has always been my favourite Friends character. We all wished we had friends like these five. They were all great role models for anyone that was twenty something when Friends came out and stayed with us into our thirties. They were the best days to come home and watch them after work and while making or having dinner. You kept your head on shall I say because there is nothing like this series on mainstream television now. It kept so many people well. Chandler was the best ever. Matthew Perry was the greatest. I mean seriously, how many women the world over wanted to marry the guy? That’s how good. Bless your cotton socks Mr Perry. You made my days❤
He's 51 and has been through addiction. You don't just "go through addiction." I'm 51 and I'm a recovering addict. So what did your comment mean? That older individuals have one leg in the ground? And what makes him so different? Nothing I can see. Let me go. I feel, at 51, that I may encounter a bout with dementia, lethargy, seizure, weak, heart attack, pancreatic cancer, and I could go on rambling, but I'm 51, so...
That's not "fine". Slurred speech is a pretty strong sign that he's not a picture of health. Choose your words carefully. You don't "go through" addiction - you live with it. Age may have some part in it, but many 51 year olds are just as coherent as a 25 year old.
As a recovered addict myself with 3 years clean.... I send all my love and prayers Matthew's way. No one knows what's really going on here. But if he is caught up in something again....I hope he can once again find his way out and continue the life he was and is meant to live.... love you Matthew!!!!

Seriously, people on social media these days just need a reason to make a fuss..!!
I know right? Did he die!

The comments about him are kind and compassionate, encouraging and hopeful. So what are you talking about when you say “lay off him” when people are expressing care, kindness and appreciation for him?
He was humble enough to straight up be honest about his addiction. That is admirable. Much respect for the dude.
RIP Matty! You were a rare gem.

Well said.

I am watching this video after receiving the news of his demise. I just can't believe the guy who introduced us to the world of sarcasm is no more. May he rest in peace❤
No matter what happens, We still love our Chandler Bing!!!! 🥰🥰🥰🥰
Imma be real. I have never watched more than maybe 15 episodes of Friends. But I have heard about Matthew Perry. While I never watched a lot of Friends this man has my respect. Addiction is hard. And everyday he struggles with it and moves on with his life and make it better he is a hero and a strong man. You go Matthew Perry!! Much love and support❤
RIP Matthew. Miss u already. We loved you Always authentic with us. So respected him for that.
He’s fine. He’s talked like this for a while. Remember, he’s 51 years old and has been through addiction.
No he's not just"fine" he revealed that he feel terrible and that he need time for hisself. He's been trough so much.
@@genuinedelusionsmusic thank you for also commenting on this pathetic response. People are stupid.
An addiction that he brought on himself, he's high af here lol
💔💔💔. RIP Matthew. You will always be remembered.
He was so brave to speak about his struggles. R.i.p
Real 🤍🕊️
Amen ❤
HELLO THERE TO Y'A ALL.
MY NAME IS PABLO,IM 52 AND IM FROM MEXICO.
JUST WANT TO SAY,I LOVE THE SHOW AND ALL THE CREW.
MR. PERRY GOD BLESS YOU.
As a recovered addict myself with 3 years clean.... I send all my love and prayers Matthew's way. No one knows what's really going on here. But if he is caught up in something again....I hope he can once again find his way out and continue the life he was and is meant to live.... love you Matthew!!!!
@matthew perry awww....come on now....
@matthew perry I don't know WHO "YOU" actually ARE to be able to answer that particular question....
@matthew perry and I'm Jennifer Anniston
@matthew perry Earth
That’s what he’s sounded like for the past few years. I think he’s fine, especially when compared to how he looked in 2019
Exactly. I think theres a Graham Norton interview from like 2018 where he lisps in that interview too. For me it almost sounds like he has dentures or a lip plate put in. My mom lost all her teeth from Lupus and needed dentures at 18 years old. She lisps because of it and it sometimes dislodges from her jaw/mouth. The way he talks is similiar. Sounds like he has a set of poorly placed dentures or a poorly placed lip plate.
@@shaniadirstein3650 I'm guessing a stroke or early dementia, both of which his substance abuse could have caused. It's not just his slur but his eyes and whole "slow" behaviour.
Oh my God people stop speculating! How would you feel reading such bs about yourself? Also I think he would be able to afford dentures placed properly Jesus Christ...
I’m in the dental field, sounds like he has dentures. It’s a difficult process to adjust to them.
Same, my dad has them and he has a slight lisp or slur with them.
It’s drugs
He also had emergency tooth surgery at the time.
that’s what I thought too
About the dentures
He will always be my favorite character in the show. Specially how he uses his sense of humor as defense mechanism, its just that I see myself to him. He's very kind to help those people who have suffering with the same addiction he has been, and how he uses his popularity to make a change... HE'S THE BEST💙💙💙
Yes my absolute fav
Remember when Monica said to Chandler, "you can't even shed tear for your dead wife", well now he's filled with emotions 🥺
*Matthew Perry had emergency dental surgery right before the reunion show. That's what caused his slurred speech. He endured a lot with his addictions. He took pain pills for a water ski accident. He is a natural comedian and he's just hilarious. The show "Friends" was great.*
so what was his excuse when he spoke the same why on Graham Norton a few years ago?
@@snap-n-shoot Excuse me wtf
@@snap-n-shoot You're saying you don't think he's sober?
@@FrostahVFX dude spent years on drugs and drinking. What the f*** do you think?
@@zerotolerance9829 I'm sorry to say this.. but are you actually stupid? Addiction is a real disease and just like real diseases you *CAN* (sort of) get cured from it. With an addiction it takes much willpower and discipline but you can get sober and stay sober for the rest of your life. The thing is, once you're an addict, you'll always be an addict. Doesn't mean you're still in use of a substance (drug, or whatever said addiction is.
Have faith that even "extreme" drug abusers can get sober mate.
I mean 17 years later. Maybe it just hit him harder than the others. He seemed emotional which is logical. I hope he’s ok.
God.... 17 years? It feels like yesterday.
Oh man, I cannot believe it's been 17 years!! It does feel like just yesterday!! I thought he seemed emotional too-- cannot wait to see the reunion!! My gosh, all of the babies will be teens!! That should be interesting!
The ending of friends actually hit hard for Matt LeBlanc and Matthew perry as they both started smoking and drinking. In a interview Matthew said that if he had a time machine he would have stopped friends from ending. It is so sad 😞😥
I have never watched TV, but stumbled across your book. I'm learning about you because of that. Know you are never alone. There's ONE who loves you better than a brother. Gratitude is the key to happiness. The more reasons you find to be grateful, the more reasons you'll find to be grateful. Addiction is an evil master. I wish you well
