Futterautomaten für die Menschenaffen im Zoo Berlin - Poke boxes for Great apes at Zoo Berlin

Wir sagen Danke! Am Paten- und Spenderabend im Zoo Berlin sind in diesem Jahr 4.550 Euro gespendet worden, die nun in die Futterautomaten unserer Menschenaffen investiert werden.
Die sogenannten Stocherboxen sind stabile Kisten mit zwei transparenten Außenwänden. Im Inneren befinden sich, löchrige Schubladen, wobei auf der obersten automatisch Futter bereitgestellt wird. Die Tiere müssen sich Werkzeuge basteln, um die Naschereien durch alle Schubladen nach unten zu manövrieren. Die Futterboxen besitzen eine integrierte Zeitschaltuhr, die nicht vorausahnen lässt, wann die nächste Portion freigegeben wird. Bis zu 12 Portionen können so täglich ausgegeben werden. Das Beschäftigungsprogramm dient nicht nur der Unterhaltung der Tiere. Es trägt außerdem zu deren Gesundheit bei und bietet ihnen immer neue Reize, die sie fordern und fördern. Das „Behavioural enrichment“ ist in der modernen Tierhaltung ein wichtiger Arbeitsbereich, der viele Faktoren von der Gestaltung und Ausstattung der Anlagen über Fütterungen oder gemeinsame Haltung verschiedener Tierarten und Sozialkontakte bis hin zu speziellem Spielzeug umfasst.
