@@InfectedEnnuinot rly gibbons are tiny, the only danger is the age old saying: if it's cute abd cuddly, it's got sharp teeth if u try to cuddle a gibbon u don't personally know, it'd think ur gonna eat it, so it'd try to escape, and you'd probably have a few bite wounds, but again, theyre flighty prey, they're very agile in the trees, so their best strategy against predators isnt to bite them, its to run away, those fangs are meant for dominance fights w/ other gibbons, not for biting animals 10 times larger than them hell, chimps are pound/pound only 35% stronger than people, but they weigh 50 kilos tops and have shit cardio, so in absolute terms unless ur out-of-shape, u could fight off a chimp if u follow these guidelines: 1: use ur legs, an untrained but fit human can kick with around 1000lbs of force at the apex of the kick,ur legs also have better reach than its arms 2. weight classes matter, a lot, especially when grappling, it has to move smth like 80-ish kilos, u have to move 50 kilos, so even if its stronger than you pound/pound, u can use ur extra weight as leverage to even the odds 3. chimps cannot punch, their arms arent built for throwing stuff, but for swinging branch to branch, so they have an advantage when grappling, but punching performance is abysmal, if u punch a chimp in the jaw and ur in fight-or-flight mode, you could injure it so it'd have a harder time biting you 4. chimp attacks rarely last over 2 minutes, cuz fast-twitch muscles burn through their glycogen reserves really quickly, slow twitch deliver more oomph, but over a longer period of time, and use oxidative mechanisms rather than glycolitic, so they use fuel straight from the bloodstream, but human slow twitch are hyper responsive to adrenaline, they twitch as fast as fast twitch, which ofc leads to what ppl call hysterical strength, now, i can consciously trigger fight-or-flight mode through mental conditioning, i basically force a controlled panic attack on myself, anyway, if u survive the first 2 minutes, the chimp will be exhausted and u won't, u could then give it everything u have and just fuck it up 5. speaking of bite force: 1300 newtons at the molars, compared to your 1100 newtons on avg, thats not a major differebce, cuz ur face is shorter, so u have a lot more leverage, so u need less muscle for a comparable bite force ofc they got sharp teeth, so bites from chimps are like puncturing wounds, while human bites are crushing wounds, and yes, human maulings are a thing, i know because i have mauled someone in a stress-induced nervous meltdown, dude had half his face missing and i think i also removed some of his scalp skin, exposing the bone, i remember the taste of blood, it was metallic and warm btw gorillas have 1300psi at the canines, but the canines are sharp, so if u divide that over the area at the tip of the fang u get 1600 newtons, but because they got mean fangs, u get the notorious 1300psi alsp donkeys have 1000psi, but their teeth are flat, so the actual force is much higher than a gorilla, my donkey likes coconuts, he bites clean through rhe coconut, just crushing it source for chimp claim: my uncle's daughter's BF used to work in a zoo w/ the chimps, he knows a lot about them and we both like chimps and fistfighting

@d R neither of those animals live on the same continent as gibbons

@d R sloths aren’t primates
@d R Btw Gibbons live in Asia and Jaguars live in South America. I think Sloths live in Australia or Africa.
@d R There is a game where you play as a gibbon and swing through trees!
It's called _Gibbon: Beyond the trees_

It’s true, I’ve seen many a hedgehog take down jackals, wildebeest and even the occasional ocelot. I once saw one tickle a mongoose to death, just for the sport. Shocking.
Still, I reckon they should be more worried about the fleas though.
They're known to be hella fast.

You do realize that Gibbons belong to the same general family of primates as humans, right? We're part of the Great Apes species, while the Gibbons are Smaller Apes.
Henrik Magnusson yes, I knew😅 it's still freaky though
Brian Christensen Oh my GOD too funny
yes gibbons are part of the lesser apes. they climb so well because they are built to have Brachiation (swinging from branch to branch) as their primary means of locomotion. they are super fun to watch :)
