If you want literary fiction, read "what you are looking for is in the library" by Michiko Aoyama! It is basically 5 short stories that are all interconnected and have these little life lessons. It is really wholesome ♡ Edit: Oh and the hardcover is bright pink
hi destiny! i would love to see you do a thrifting, library, or free little library challenge. i feel like it would be so fun to see if you can find anything on your TBR or something so random. or even go off librarian requests 🩷
Book recs: (btw I read these books cuz jack Edwards recommended it.) • The women destroyed by Simon de Beauvoir. • Emma by Jane Austen • The island of missing trees by Elif shafak • Panenka by ronan hession • The bread The devil knead by Lisa Allen agostini • The housemaids tale by Margaret Atwood • Nightcrawling by leila mottley • Sula by Toni Morrison I love these books! Hope you like them too!✨🫶🏻
@@Lanaiicbbttiwbsmw yeah .. they are mostly classics, non fiction and fiction. I’m a fantasy and romance girly but I still enjoyed them as beginner to these genres!
my sister recommended the push to me last summer and i read it in literally one day which is insane for me because i can only ever concentrate on reading like 30 mins at a time but its so fast paced and genuinely so good!!
my guess for this super secret interesting video is about possibly motherhood/girlhood and its effects on society and if so OMG super excited but if not I'll still be excited cause its a video from des
"The Push" is actually a good book, but I rated it pretty low when I read it because it was falsely avdertsied. People were going around saying that it was a thriller so I read it as one. Had no idea it was a literary fiction piece or I would've rated it differently. There is a thriller called "The Perfect Child" by lucinda berry and it's basically the thriller version of "The Push". Very good, too!
Remarkably Bright Creatures is a literary fiction that had me hooked reading it. The storyline was so beautiful and it’s ended in such a way where everything that was mentioned in the book had tied together. Highly recommend
I’m so excited to see your reads for the year. I read fantasy in 2023 because of the book girlies. I always go to your reviews first! happy reading!!!✨📚
So happy for you to start reading classics, they are so underestimated now but they are so good. It’s also cool to see how some topics were treated years and years ago.
best way to start the new year !!! i’m currently reading throne of glass! ps i’m so happy to see some literary fiction recommendations bc i am very anti romance. love you bestie!
please do the book buying video every month!!!! i feel like im buying books when your buying books so it stops me from actually going and buying books🫠🫠🫠
Destiny, this video is such a happy fun fresh vibe. I'm loving it + your blush looks gorgeous on u. Also YES finally someone said it "Romance books are starting to feel the same" fr.
Hey girlie, just want to set an expectation that Happiness Falls is an average 3 star. It's not as high stakes as you think and really centers around the study of communication. I majored in COMS so I enjoyed it but I just want to give you a heads up! So excited to follow another year of reading with you 😊❤
HIGHLY recommend The Push and also HIGHLY recommend everyone read it BEFORE they are a. mom. I read it when it first came out and I remember thinking if I was a mom I would be scared of my child after reading it lol.
Happy New Year, dear Destiny! It is such a joy to see your videos, and this one with your lovely mom is particularly wonderful. As for the book buying, I'm trying to curb my spending and since books are the major expense for me, I'm gonna try and avoid shopping for books, focusing on the ones I already have in abundance. But I know that for you buying books is a part of your job, so getting 5 books a month sounds like a good solution to the problem!
I have my whole tbr planned for the year separated by months & then separated by weeks in the month. Im challenging myself to read 7+ books a month and ONLY read my physical tbr. Also limiting myself to buy 2 books a month. 2024 is my reading year with reading challenges 😂😭😭
Oh girl. I read the push last summer and let me tell you NOBODY can be mentally prepared for that one 😅 but it stuck with me I still think about it!! Also I highly recommend the whispers by the same author
The push was one of the first books I read when I started my reading journey and I haven’t found another book like it. I highly recommend but look at the trigger warnings (especially if you are a new or becoming mama)
I’m feeling the same with romance!! My tbr is getting through Stephen King’s list , nonfiction, classics, and sci-fi and literally anything that isn’t romance based
Shark Heart was my first book of the year and I absolutely loved it! i was sobbing my little heart out. Its very strange and not exactly a 'romance' novel but it is very romantic in parts. I got it from the library but now I need to buy my own copy so I can tab it haha! Very quick to get through as well because of how its set out. I'd love to see what you think of that one in a vlog! Happy New Year!x
For your classic series read Anne of Green Gables! Because it is a middle-grade classic it's really easy to read and it is one of my all time favourite books!
You need to read Boy Swallows Universe!! It’s an Aussie fiction book that is being adapted into a tv show coming out later this year! It melts your heart and pieces it back together multiple times throughout. Such a good lit fic book!!
I so recommend starting with Northanger Abbey to get into Austen! It's the one that has the most intrigue the whole way through rather than half the book of build up and then half the book of oh, that's why that happened! Pride and prejudice and Jane are still my favourites but Northanger Abbey was easiest to read.
your mom fixing your hair for the pics is so wholesome. i love how supportive she is of everything you do
The notification popped up and I audibly said “uh oh”
Lol yes
i was like i thought she was gonna hold off on buying new books😅
this is so real
I love how she’s basically changed her own book buying rules to get more books, like actually so relatable 😂
as a literary fiction reader i’m so excited for whats coming
same!! so glad she’s exploring new genres and can’t wait for her reviews
Sameee
literallyyyyy !!,
recommend me some!!

You can go to the library for books for your videos. You can save money and support your library
Yasss, I’m here for the Literary Fiction era Des 😍😍😍 Excited to see what you end up reading this year!
hi destiny! i would love to see you do a thrifting, library, or free little library challenge. i feel like it would be so fun to see if you can find anything on your TBR or something so random. or even go off librarian requests 🩷
Des, your positive energy in this video is just immaculate. You’re glowingggg!!
Shark Heart was AMAZING!! One of my favs of the year - so beautiful and had me weeping at the end
I love that you always bring your mom with you
Nothing makes me more happy than seeing a new book shopping video from Destiny☺️💗📚
I like that you're exploring new genre this year✨ Looking forward to hearing your thoughts♡✧❀
Yellowface was so good! I listened to it as an audiobook, and I think that was the perfect way to get the most out of the story.
I devoured it in one day and that is NOT normal for me at all. Loved it. LOVED!
Huh I can’t relate lol. I wanted to love this book but I just didnt. It was a solid 3 stars in my opinion. It just felt dragger out.
Dragged
I wonder if “intriguing” is des’s new “genuinely.” New year new word!
It would be amazing to watch your make an UNHAUL of books to start the 2024❤

Shark Heart was a great really well done Novel. I loved the way it was structured.

The whispers I think right? That one was great! I read it early in the year and reread it this year as well (for a book club) and still loved it!
I've read the push it was good but the ending was annoying a lot of unanswered questions were left
