      @@lerneanlionYes sure, droids can behave human like, but its never the same as a biological behavior. They can only replicate behaviors which already existed, so biological beings did Programm it into them. They will never be in the same ethic Level as living beings since they dont live. They only "run" as a program. Clones are already born as human, so why should they even have the need to get humanized?

    A Neimoidian seems like a much safer option. You could always trust their greed and generally get an idea as to how to work with one effectively. Working with a hivemind species in any kind of business just seems very risky unless it's limited to very simple terms, like the trading of meat for droidekas.

  • @teleportedbreadfor3days

    • @legoferrari14

      My guess would be that the Thousand Years of Peace meant that the Colicoids lost a considerable chunk of their trade from the decreased need and/or outlawing of combat-oriented droid production.
      In the real world, military production and R&D contracts are lucrative business, so I suspect that also holds true in Star Wars; even as early as the Old Republic era.

      Because they were. Droidekas debuted in 1999 in Episode 1, The Phantom Menace, and I remember reading about colicoids in the associated visual dictionary that I had. On the droideka page they mentioned they were created by an insectoid race called colicoids and that they were relatively unknown to most of the galaxy, but those that did know of them absolutely loathed them. There were no pictures of colicoids to be found of course, so it was pretty apparent that the droidekas were created first for the movie, and the colicoids were just a cool-sounding name given to a species that designed them as background lore.

Do you think this "subversion" ended up working and giving the story the depth it needed? Do you think that George Lucas already raised this question, but didn't develop it in the story of the Prequels because that wasn't the focus of the plot?

    • @TJDious
      @TJDious Год назад +9

      I don't think it's a subversion, more a closer look at what contributed to their fall. Remember that the Jedi were manipulated into an impossible situation by 1000 years of the Sith Grand Plan under the Rule of Two. They were still a noble order in their last days, but they made the mistake of believing that they served the people of the Republic by serving its government. Unfortunately only Dooku and Qui-Gon seem to have truly grasped this, but Qui-Gon was slain before he could affect change in the Order and Dooku fell to the dark.
