    I came up in the tuner scene of the late-90s and early-00s. I can remember watching early vids of the S chassis cars from Japan and immediately falling in love. Something about about their sleek look and power packed form factor that made it hard to deny. By far, the S15 is my personal favorite. Guess it’s time to start saving or playing the lottery, so I can take advantage of one once they become “legally” available for export.😎

  • @McarthurMotors

    My favourite feature would be the exchangeability between platforms for the car. It was basic but you could take parts from 300zx,q45,j30,sentra and make the thing epic. When I first got into them a decade ago here in canada you could buy a car for $1000 and a sr20 swap for 900-1500 all day. S14 sr20’s we’re around 1800 and the s15 was around 2200 with the 6 speed. Rb20’s we’re 800 bucks and the rb26 with the trans was only $2500

  • @Torresmeza9

    Forgot to mention the 240sx s13 came with 2 different front ends, pignose (single cam) and sharknose (dual cam).
    Also the s14 was produced all the way until the year 2000 for the European market.
    S15 came in 4 notable variations. Spec R with sr20det, spec S sr20de, Autech Version 200hp sr20de with 6-speed transmission and the Varrietta (retractable hardtop).

    • @Kinzoku_jp

      thats almost too much detail because i could add that:
      there was also an "almighty" model s13 silvia as well as diamond, club and special editions
      Type 1, type 2, type r, type g, type s and type x 180sx's as well as ca18 in those as well as only that engine in the EU
      s14 had Qs and Ks model and type s within Qs/Ks, in Aus there were luxury, sports and limited.
      both s14 and s15 had aero and non aero models
      and s15 having different special edition interesting interior colours
      but most of all, the s12 hatch is underrated and awesome
      see my point, too much detail

    I'm in the process of restoring and upgrading my RS13U (CA18DET). Engine is out, disassembled down to head and block, will take it to a shop later. I have almost took out the whole interior except the wires, that's next. It will be a bare chassis pretty much just with suspension left on. Then off to get cleaned up, protected and resprayed. After that take off the whole suspension, clean it, sand it, protect, paint, put back together with new bushings etc, 5 lug conversion, upgraded brakes, looking at 300ZX ones, def one of the most popular upgrades. Stock brakes are not good even for a stock car, give it some additional power...yeah no. Then tidy up the interior, with all new wiring throughout the car and standalone ecu. All that without even mentioning the engine and driveline stuff yet + different details of previous points. It's gonna be and already is my own labor of love, passion, perfection and attention to detail where the car will be pretty much like it came of the production line if not better in terms being a fine restomod (or at least I think so). But that feeling unfortunately sometimes dissipates and comes back because all of that is gonna take a lot of time as money is a major problem, so I try to do everything myself and esp. when it comes to buying parts, and having them shipped and maybe imported if necessary.

    Great video man!! Would you be able to help with figuring out what a 91 Silvia here in the states would be worth or know someone who would. It’s super clean with 60k miles on it. Mostly all original except for suspension, wheels and a steering wheel. Any more info would be greatly appreciated. Keep up the great videos. You just gained a subscriber. 🤟

    Also to note that the S14 Zenki and Kouki in Europe are known as the "S14" and "S14a". I have owned my 1999 S14a for 19 years now. 🙂

    I've never paid more than $1500 for an s13 and I've had 4 all of them either super clean or 7 out of 10. The prices kids are willing to pay is insane

    You forgot us Europeans, here the S13 with pop-up lights is called 200SX. I understand why it's 240sx in the states because of the KA24. But here in Europe we have both engines, CA18 and SR20s. CA18 being alot more common tho.
    Edit: in many car dealer websites even the S14 is labeled as 200SX.

    Shouldve mentioned in Europe our cars were the 200sx in the S13 chassis, So in the S13 in the UK came with the CA18DET and SR20DET, S13 has 180sx, 200sx, 240sx, Sileighty, Onevia in hatchback, coupe and vert versions plus the smaller and rarer other production models like those from Japan

    Owned 3 hatch S13's in my life, would get again again and again if I could.. Good review, but it's rare and may need to include the droptop S15.. I forgot the name, but I'm sure someone will comment it here! :D

    you cant figure out the names and engines? heres an easy way to remember,
    180sx = CA18 S13
    200sx = SR20 S13,S14,S15 (aus)
    240sx = KA24 S13,S14
    most nissan car names correspond to their engine size like 300zx 350z and 370z hence why they dont call the new Z the 400z

    S13 came with a ca18det (mini RB) Wich is pretty good. sounds much better than a Sr20 and can still make good power 💪
