I probably would have gotten it if it had log - Sigma admitted this was a problem months back, and apologized to all their users, but unfortunately it was a HW limitation. Then they launch a new version, without log?????????????????
Great review here Pav. Definitely a hybrid and somewhat provides a pro level balance in the best of both photo and video worlds. Thanks for sharing the bloopers at the end also, haha!
Thanks Pav. A nice balanced review. Well done. Unlike most reviewers, you showed images and shooting view. Suggestion: go into the history of Sigma colour science and how this camera evolved from a Foveon sensor.
Thanks for the review. Your color grading on photos is awesome! Could you go more into the details of video monitoring? On screen histograms? False color?
thank you for watching! I can't really tell you those things. I do all video recording externally and use Ninja V tools - never really consider checking those on the camera. Sorry
going forward sigma must add IBIS , better autofocus.....mechanical shutter and above all a stacked sensor for faster readout .and reducing rolling shutter......nice to see.....👍
Your colours are amazing. Very Leica like. I am keen to see how the camera with a leica lens compares with a leica M10 with the same lens. It would save me a lot of money to buy the FPL instead of the M10 plus I'd get video too. And the model is as classic as the M10. Thanks for a great presentation.
Every backpacking, mountain climbing, landscape/street photographer out there should be jumping up and down from joy. Also a perfect second body for anyone with high rez photography ambitions.
I don't know what it is about the jpegs from this camera but they are beefy. You can really push them in post. I don't know, nor do I understand how or why.
Thanks! Panasonic makes Sigma lenses behave differently on Panasonic cameras than their own. It might happen, it might not, who knows. We can only hope
Technically Black Magic does have tap to focus, which is very useful with native lenses. I'd also argue their menu iteration is more accurate than the FP's (I'm speaking from the perspective of the original FP model). The menu of the pocket cinema cameras also solidly outpaces the FP in ease of use and functionality. Overall excellent review! This version seems unnecessary for me as a current FP owner, but I very much enjoyed your review. Subbed!
This is a camera you have to live with a while before you come to appreciate it. All that said, there is something to the argument that other cameras with solid grips, an EVF and IBIS would serve a professional better, but this is a very nice second body.
it's not for everyone but unique enough to appeal to that one someone who will love it for everything that it has on offer. I think it's a great camera in it's own right
Me encantarìa tener dinero suficiente para probar todas las marcas y técnologías disponibles, para viajar y contar muchas historias, pero nop. Entonces me recreo en estos datos y sigo mi camino con lo que tengo. Gracias.
This camera competes with MF, not FF : it's manly adapted for studio shooting. The ergonomic is not adapted to photographers looking for a versatile camera. Not to mention sport or wild life photographers, can you imagine a weeding photographer, or a street photographer, shooting with such a camera rather than any other one ?
@@xaviercopeland2789 Would you buy this camera over any other for street photo ? I won't. Less expensively, I just bought a used ("mint") Leica M262. And many other cameras are much more versatile and adapted to street photo in any format (G9, XT4, R6/Z6II, GFX50R...). But everyone is free to choose.
If that's what you want - get that same sensor in Sony's a7riv for the same price - but with IBIS, mechanical shutter, dual cards etc. etc. And it's not great for the studio - since it doesn't have a mechanical shutter flash sync speed is only 1/30th.
It's all about preference. I still have my old Nikon d800. It was my workhorse for such a long time. Absolutely capable camera for pretty much anything with just one shitty usable central focus point. If I compare sigma fp L to it (or in fact to most of DSLRs) and add 61mpx sensor to the equation, this is a camera that can really deliver great results. Photography auto focus is pretty solid, it's not bad at all and I think it could manage the wedding with it without any problems. Maybe not sports camera but it's not pretending to be one. Absolutely perfect for street photography.
@@PavSZ Who will consider to buy this camera over any other for street photo or wedding ? Looking in a periscope to make a picture is not the best way to shoot in my opinion. Any other camera is more ergonomic than this one. And for the same price, I'd rather have a GFX50R. But it's me and any body can prefer this Sigma of course.
This camera would be perfect if it had a larger battery, a flipscreen and ibis. It still is a great camera but I won't buy this one because of those quite important features.
Sigma fp-L - maybe not a game changer but a serious camera for a serious photographer and filmamker.
Are you team SIGMA fp?????
I probably would have gotten it if it had log - Sigma admitted this was a problem months back, and apologized to all their users, but unfortunately it was a HW limitation. Then they launch a new version, without log?????????????????
Love your videos btw :)
Those small new sigma lenses have a aperture ring anyway - Idea for this camera.
What's the battery like?
@@TheKimNeeper there is no log but if you switch the colour mode to "off" you get very flat profile
@@TheKimNeeper thank you!!
This this the only video I have seen that mentions the zoom crop factors and megapixel sizes! Thank you!
You're so welcome!

I love my OG Sigma FP! I use it for portrait shoots with the 85 1.4
great cameras - I dismissed og fp but I am converted now

Steve Huff reported an improvement on the autofocus with firmware 1.0. See if you can update the camera and try again.
I think you are talking about different camera - this is not even shipping yet, never mind new firmware availability

it might never happen
All i want is to color grade like you. How can i learn that color grading for my photography? Any video suggestions? Thanks. Love your colors.
Thank you very much!
I will have my Lightroom presets and LUTS available to buy later this month
@@PavSZ awesome. Thanks
I cannot decide between fp or black magic 4k..the black magic seems to be more together/grounded. ready to go
check out Anson's channel - he talks a lot about fp and how great it is for filming ruclips.net/user/AnsonandCo

I'd love to see results from fp L with Leica lens on it and how it compares to M10.

true!
Very well made quick review!
Sigma fp-L, talk about punching above its weight! As an L-mount user this is very interesting actually.
I think it's a decent little camera. Far from perfect but absolutely capable of delivering outstanding results
Nice video Pav! You were waaaay kinder to this thing than I was! 😅
I always try to find the positives - it's not perfect, it's true but I could make it work in a commercial situations without loosing any money 😉
If Sigma can add phase detect autofocus, surely Panasonic must add it now. Nice overview, thanks.
Thanks!

Enjoyable review thanks. What’s it like in low light compared to the fp? Laurie
I never used original fp. I think fp-L is decent. Very comparable to Sony cameras
Your model is gorgeous
Nice review
Thank you and thank you

Animal eye af worked perfectly on Boris Johnson
