This video seems great so far, except Dracula was NOT SEXY in the book. He is described as gross and making the nice, non judgemental, man staying at his castle want to puke. Though there is still a theme of this rich powerful man preying on women in that sexual way vampires do.
I'd second that. Dracula not sexy. That's why the first well known film version Nosferatu (which of course had a completely different focus than the book) did show a horrible ugly man to the point that he looks and moves not human. I think the idea of a sexy Dracula was started by later films and the novel was, more or less, forgotten.
He was not described as physically attractive and he doesn´t seduce any of the women he feeds on (though you can still read the descriptions, like Stephen King does in Dance Macabre, like descriptions of sexual pleasure). He does however combine aristocratic elegance and sophistication on the surface with an animalistic nature inside, which makes it a small step to also make him a sex symbol. His "wives" are directly seductive and sexual.
I read an essay a long time ago which stated convincingly that Dracula was Bram Stoker's metaphor for promiscuity and homosexuality which could not be lived freely in conservative Victorian times. The penetration of men and women by the vampire's teeth can be regarded as a metaphor for intercourse. It seems like Stoker himself was gay and gothic fiction in general was often used to write about all kinds of behaviours in a metaphorical way or carried out by fictional creatures that would be considered immoral at that time. Another example is "Dr Jeckyll and Mr Hyde". I thihnk in this way you can see Dracula as very sexual eventhough maybe not sexy :)
Monster: exists Young women: oh yeah that's the stuff Just saying, I'm only saying young women as that's where you see it most I'm not about to list every single person who has done this...
Two things that I didn't see you mentioned but I thought worth mentioning: - neck is a very sensual spot and biting/the idea of biting can be arousing (neck kisses are popular for a reason) (also adds to the "rape" aspect of Dracula) - people, at least some, have an innate fascination for blood (be it out of interest (me lol) or because blood plays an important role in culture) This probably fits somewhere combined with the tropes mentioned
Good points! From other comments I’ve seen, vampiric hunger is something people totally get or are totally turned off by. Those who dislike it are sickened by the mere concept of a creature that consumes human fluids. Those who are into it see those more sensual aspects that you mentioned

It’s ironic how vampires, werewolves, zombies, ghosts, and other monsters are portrayed and viewed as perfect partners in romance and sex. If they weren’t played by attractive actors and actresses, people would run away immediately rather than try to start a relationship with them.
They have to be attractive to make up for their being monster and creators want to make them romantic partner because they want to appeal to people who feel insecure.
umm ma'am you do know these monsters wouldn't be like they're portrayed in movies if the actually did exist right, so of course no one would try to start a relationship with them.
Well, one can also make the argument that vampire's were always meant to be seen as sexual creatures. It has been often said that modern legend of the vampire stem from the Greek myths of the Empousa and Succubus or Incubus who were all demons who fed on peoples blood. However, most of them, especially in the case of the Succubus or Incubus, would often try to seduce their victims to make them willing in their own demise. They were also said to be deceivingly beautiful or handsome, which was suppose to be a warning sign to those who found them. So, one could say that sex and desire was always a theme in vampire stories, even from the beginning.
@Noah Stepp, vampires from Slavic Balkan are believed to have HUGE sexual stamina. They tend to seduce human women and even have relationship with them. Plus, in Slavic Balkan vampires can have half-vampire children, known as VJEDOGONJA, VAMPIROVIĆ, VAMPIRČE,...among Slavs.
@@darkstorm0433 Twiligh may SUCK, but the author did the romance and half-vampire child RIGHT. In Balkan folklore vampire ALWAYS comes back to his wife or lover, can be VERY PROTECTIVE of her and even HELP her with difficult tasks and house chores.😉
This reminds me of a similar vampiric figure in the Xhosa folklore called the Impundulu : A thunderbird which assumes the form of very attractive boys to lure women and drink their blood.
Please do a Take on how Middle Easterners are depicted in Western media (like the terrorist trope, the immigrant trope, and the oppressed woman trope). Specifically related to Iran and Afghanistan. I would especially love to see footage of Marjane Satrapi's "Persepolis" in the Take, as a way to explore how Iranians (especially young Iranian women) depict themselves and their country in their own work, and how they feel about the racism they deal with outside of Iran. Thank you very much!
The hanging out with teenagers thing kind of bugged me. The vampires brain is still evidently changing, they typically have long and continually developing memory, so why on Earth would they have interest in young women... I mean there is the obvious, I get that much, but Angel and Buffy? (Which quite creepily started a few years before she was legal in the US.) and other full fledged relationships? - and even if the vampires questionable or differing moral standards are the cause, do you know much I have in common with a 16 year old? Or even an 18 year old? Its not just the case that society generally isnt fond of someone who is many, _many_ years older dating someone younger, its that you are just not at all invested in the same things as you age, and its seen as kind of perverse if you are relating to a school kid more than your peers. (You might get a pass for someone like Spike, who is often depicted as overly reliant on his mother, emotionally immature, and whos only relationship experience since was with a woman who was out of her mind, but its still a stretch to think his mindset didnt change in well over a hundred years.) Likewise, there are not many kids 16, 17, 18 years old who would love the opportunity to spend all their time with someone whos decades and decades older than them. - I guess its just the nature of Hollywood and the like that almost everyone be young and attractive, especially women, but it seems to me that a vampire in a real relationship (Rather than just feeding.) would be considerably more taken with older men and/or women who would share a considerably larger portion of their life experience.
i agree with this wholeheartedly! as much as i love a good star crossed lovers ship, buffy and angel just didn't make sense to me because of their centuries long age gap (ew...) and when he got his own spinoff and was upgraded beyond shadowy brooding figure, i understood his pull to buffy even less. there's no way anyone can tell me that _that_ version of angel would've wanted anything to do with a teenager, much less fall in love with her. his love for cordelia makes much more sense because they saw each other grow into the people they loved and at that point cordelia was very much an adult at that point. 21 is still too young for my taste because like you said, vampires would definitely be far more interested in older humans due to their comparable life experience and wisdom.
@@Chris-rg6nm It changes from vampire to vampire. In The Lost Boys, the vampires feel forever young and youthful, while in Interview With the Vampire, they're adults with refined, French-centered "high art" taste who often commit vampire suicide after a while because they feel the crushing weight of the world and being out of time. Stephanie Meyer, as a devout mormon, never consumed much of either of those pivotal pieces of vampire media before writing twilight (she doesn't watch r-rated pieces) and Anne Rice kinda....kinda makes fun of the Twilight vampires for choosing to stay in high school forever.
@@Chris-rg6nm i disagree. for arguments sake here, lets just say that our bodies didn't degrade as quickly or as much as they do with age. we can all agree that there's a huge difference in terms of lived experience and wisdom between an 18 year old and a 48 year old, solely due to how long each person has been kicking around in the world. now take a 248 year old vampire like angel, and regardless of how spry they physically feel, that's almost three mortal lifetimes worth of experience. if we were talking about a creature that's never been mortal and therefore doesn't have the same perspective on time, such as an elf, then yes obviously it wouldn't matter how many mortal lifetimes they've lived because they've never ascribed to a mortal's idea of time. but vampires are different because they were originally human, and while i'm sure their perspective of time also changes the longer they're around, it's probably safe to assume that for the first couple of centuries they still retain some of their very human attitudes. all of that aside, if angel were a real living individual, even he would disagree with your remark about how vampires tend to feel youthful and free regardless of how much time they've clocked in... cus goddamn that dude has a lot of baggage. that's kind of the whole point of his character. he feels the weight of having existed for as long as he has, having seen what he's seen and knowing all of the horrible things about life and humanity, or the lack thereof when he was angelus. and there are plenty of other vampires within fiction who'd agree, like louis or claudia (even the brat prince himself the longer he goes on), basically the entire cullen family to varying degrees, our beloved daywalker blade, clara webb from byzantium, godric and bill from true blood, plenty of vampires from the masquerade, charlotte from wir sind die nacht... i could go on and on. ennui is kind of a staple with vampirism, hence why the brooding vampire is such an everlasting trope. so no, i don't believe a vampire would be attracted to a teenager, other than as easy and delicious prey due to their naivete and innocence. makes the blood sweeter, apparently! but to choose as a life partner? that's less believable than vampires actually existing! part of the appeal of vampires is the faustian pact they must contend with. what kind of existence must they live when they live in a world not meant for them? all that power can't chase away the isolation, and after awhile slaughter and bloodshed tends to lose its luster like so many other activities do when done over and over and over again.
I agree with a lot of your point, tho Angel and Buffy's relationship is the exception. Buffy is not the average teenager, she is a slayer, a young woman with tremendous power. That alone sets her apart from her counterparts, that and the fact that she was very attractive and albeit being still immature and too righteous at times she has a good personality and strong will. The time of their meeting is also pivotal to Angel's redemption arc, his desire to help her is what brings him out of his self-imposed exile and self pity after he gets his soul back and runs away from his group. He was homeless feeding off of rats, when he's introduced to the idea that the very existence of this beautiful girl and her battle against evil as well as her emotional turmoil and struggles open up an alternative to his self loathing existence, she brings to him the belief and possibility of finding redemption for his acts, of becoming someone that is outside of either Angelus or his current pathetic life. Plus there is the established idea that Angel (or i guess Liam) was a very immature and selfish person when he was turned and his vampirism only emphasized those qualities. He lived in what could be described as sadistic hedonism for a century, only to have his soul reinstated against his will and then suffers in guilt and mostly isolation for the next 100 years, so while he did live and has socialized in the 1900s, its safe to say he doesn't really acquire much life experience up until he meets her and becomes engrossed in her struggle. Buffy's coming of age story parallels his own in a way.

@@MaiiOrduna I know. My point was that it wasn’t clear when they switched over to talking about the film, since the book is also Bram Stoker’s Dracula. If they’d said “in the film adaptation...” or something like that, it would have been clearer.
I too was confused if they meant just the movie or the book. In the book, Minna is strong and brave but in a way that is different than the badass fighters that a lot of movies like to depict. I really wished someone would make a movie with the Minna of the book.

My favorite vampire quotes: “Do you like being food for the immortals? Do you like dying?!” - Louis “I assume I need no introduction” - Lestat “Out. For. A. Walk...bitch!” - Spike “If nothing we do matters, then all that matters is what we do.” - Angel “I have crossed oceans of time to find you.” - Dracula “When you become a vampire, you become very…sexy. [gestures to himself]” - Deacon
"Passion. It lies in all of us. Sleeping... waiting... and though unwanted, unbidden, it will stir... open its jaws and howl. It speaks to us... guides us. Passion rules us all. And we obey. What other choice do we have? Passion is the source of our finest moments. The joy of love... the clarity of hatred... the ecstasy of grief. It hurts sometimes more than we can bear. If we could live without passion, maybe we'd know some kind of peace. But we would be hollow. Empty rooms, shuttered and dank. Without passion, we'd be truly dead."-Angel
Just a little remark: in the original novel (not the 1992 version which also does Mina horribly wrong), Lucy is not sexually liberated or suchlike. Her desire to be able to marry all three of her suitors doesn't come from sexual interest, but from being so soft-hearted that she feels bad about saying 'no' to two of them and cause them a heartbreak. Her change to a vampire also doesn't make her overly sexual - Lucy feeds on children, Arthur is the only man she ever makes a move on afterwards. The three women in Dracula's castle are sexually active - hence one 'goes to her knees' in front of Jonathan (an euphemism for oral sex at that time). They are, by the way, also never called 'brides' in the novel - that came later.
"The lust of the vampire fits into teenagers' desire to be seen as special." Yeah, special without having to put any effort into it. That's every stereotypical teen's dream: "Even if I have a 'startled goldfish' resting face and the personality of toast that hasn't been buttered, boys/girls will still trip over themselves for me because I'm so unique and special!"
It would be laughable if it wasn't true that society falls over young people. When you're a teen, everyone from people your age to decades older try to hit on you, project expectations of success onto you or try to drain your energy, so while you don't like it, you try to make it work. For some of us, it was never fiction, but a heightened version of creepy reality.
@@FabalociousDee yep why most of us fall for the fuck boy. I try to give women a free pass the first time because we are condition to believe a man will save us if they love us, but now men use that logic to take advantage. It's messed up that why get blamed for expecting honesty and loyalty and told " you should have not given so much now he doesn't value you"
@@FabalociousDee Yes, society does trip over young people, but only a certain type. Hell, that's the basis for most cheesy high school makeover movies: The "ugly duckling" character is an unfashionable (by Hollywood standards) bookworm, nerd, or some other social outcast who will be loved by everyone once they get some nice clothes and swap out their likes for whatever is trendy at the time. And yes, while some teens go through the awkward creepiness of having individuals and society fixate on them, some don't. People with disabilities, even and especially as teenagers, are often de-romanticized and de-sexualized by society, which can make that transitional phase in life even more emotionally confusing and awkward. I speak from personal experience (I'm visually impaired). So, yeah. Society loves its youth, but only those who fit their expectations of what being an acceptable, attractive young person means.
@@potmki6601 That's not the point. Yes, everyone is unique and shouldn't change themselves. What I meant was that the stereotype is teens think they don't have to make any effort into displaying their individuality, that leaning against a wall and staring intensely would be enough to convey, "I'm SO different and special!"

@@taleytaleytaley I don't deny that Twilight may have been the introduction to the trope for many young people in the same way The Vampire Chronicles were in the 1970s and onward, but let's not pretend that the trope was dead in the 21st century before Edward Cullen came along. The Sookie Stackhouse novels came out in the early 2000s and True Blood ran from 2008 - 2014. Twilight came out in 2005. They were all running concurrent with one another and different franchises were popular with different demographics.
Twilight, for all its many, many, MANY faults did start a very interesting conversation about abstinence and teen sexuality. Most of it was problematic, but it did *start* one.
That's true, I also liked its portrayal of badass characters, such as Alice, Rosalie or Leah, that is when they were allowed moments to shine, of course! 😁✨
What you said about Twilight tapping into the adolescent desire to be seen as special blew my mind. Even reading it back in highschool, I knew the main love story was ridiculous but I was engaged all the same. Here was this quiet, awkward introvert made into a protagonist everyone cared about. That and other pieces of the story drew me in. I still regret supporting Stephanie Meyer, but I enjoyed what I enjoyed.
That’s ok. As long as you realize Edward was full of red flags it’s okay that you liked the series. Personally I don’t because the red flags are off putting as I have a mother who was in a few abusive relationships until a few years ago. I just don’t want to relive the trauma.
"Interview with the Vampire" was VERY sexy. It was my introduction to this trope. There was clearly something going on between Tom Cruise's vampire and Brad Pitt's vampire, but it was the early 1990s so the movie never went there. But it hinted at it pretty heavily. Those two, at their peak of their handsome good-looks, making out, kissing, licking....ooof, I am getting all steamed up just thinking about it...
Great video! Vampires have been my absolute favorite monster since I first read an Ann Rice novel in 2002, and this was a great essay on why so many people are so in love with them. When I was reading that first novel at age 14, vampires were so exciting because they represented an escape from the dull and painful world of the living (8th grade at that time), and fed into the my desire to be rebellious and give into things I knew were bad for me.
i’m only 7 minutes in ( i will delete this if it does not hold true for the rest of the video) but i had some issues with your take on Dracula. lucy is an ingenue in the book, only bringing up marrying multiple men in terms of not wanting to make her suitors unhappy by rejecting them, and the closest she gets to “open about her desires” is just being clearly in love with arthur. meanwhile, dracula himself generally comes across as less a charming seducer than kind of rape-y. less importantly, the three vampire women he lives with are not identified as sisters. i did like your point about how dracula’s attentions cause lucy to become a “crazed sexual demon” and how the fear of vampires is a fear of sexuality, though.
can we talk about the fact that I literally just watched interview with the vampire, like today, went on RUclips and searched for an analysis by the take and boom this comes out
As Vampire: The Masquerade fan each clan have 13 types of Vampires. These Vampires are Toreadors. "While other vampires can travel through human society, and even blend in, the Toreador do it flawlessly and effortlessly. They are the closest to humans in appearance; they enjoy being in the center of the spotlight, and having mortals admire them. They're also the best manipulators and can easily get kine (humans) to do what they want. The Toreador are creatures of beauty and passion, and most of them were musicians, artists and poets in their mortal lives." Which pretty much fit this video of vampires.

I mean Stephan from Vampire Diaries was sort of depressed most times, and would go full ripper. Which is like the vampire version of an alcoholic that would go on binges. That series is so freaking good.
I had been complaining about Spike looking similar to Kiefer's character in Lost Boys when people complained another show ripped off Buffy simply because of similar aesthetics. Learning Whedon really was inspired by Lost Boys just further proves my point about characters having similar aesthetics.
Literally so obsessed with this channel!! Such amazing, thorough film analysis!! But they're advertising their merchandise like I didn't buy a hoodie the moment it was available lmfao
Same here! Vampires have been my thing since I was a kid, but I much prefer the Lost Boys lust for life Vampire versus the broody whiny boys. Spike is clearly better than Angel. Damon is clearly better than Stephan. Angel and Stephan dragged down their shows for me with their constant wallowing! I say Louis is the original Bella Swan to be honest.
@@Nightengale90 Oh yeah. I mean, I didn't watch much of TVD, but as for book Stefan, I really wished that he had grown more. His constant self-hatred and guilt was such a bummer and when reading from Elena's perspective, I cared for him and really wanted him to love himself some more and grow out of that. Spike (especially with Dru) is definitely a more fun Vampire Character than Angel, in my opinion (but def not romantic interest OOF), but I do appreciate how Angel had the dichotomy of being Angelus, as well. I feel like that made his guilt make more sense, IMO. I definitely prefer a happy, confident vamp, myself, ha ha.
How the heck did Interview with a Vampire only get a passing mention in a video about sexy vampires?! I get it, Twilight was popular for a bit, but to feature it to the extent that they did, as though it did anything new or revolutionary is crazy. Also, I think you could argue that Elizabeth Bathory was the origin of the sexy vampire.
it's just another version of being attracted to the bad boy or a criminal. It's dangerous, edgy... A lot of people do like the thrill of being around danger or in danger.
I wish more production companies would take up new takes on vampires. They make the idea of ducking blood painful but many texts explore if the blood sucking felt good. Fledgling by Octavia butler for example is really good. I wish they'd make a movie or TV show based on that.
Pretty sure the idea of a human falling in love with a vampire was floated by "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" before "Twilight" came about. You know, Buffy and Angel or Buffy and Spike? Yes, unfortunately, "Twilight" has a lot of significance to this conversation...but give the Buffyverse some due! In the book, Dracula is less "metaphorical seducer" and more "metaphorical rapist." I nearly puked when I read the chapter where Mina was forced into vampirism. It was so visceral and crushing.
Yeah, and Lucy's not seduced, she is consumed by a sickness. Mina's husband is similarly traumatized. Although the part where he climbs walls like a lizard is still kinda funny
@@sarroumarbeu6810 The book itself doesn't really romanticize it, although there is still a lot of sexual subtext in there. I think it was really the movies that romanticized Dracula.
Vampire Academy is such a good read. It's puts a new spin on the whole vampire thing but also gives in to the tropes associated with it. The Vampires are just like normal humans, but also alluring, sexy, intoxicating, ugly, evil, and very dangerous. The vampires in Twilight were alluring and dangerous and that made romance with them problematic. That's not an issue in Vampire Academy. Also the author delves into pretty intelligent themes on sexuality for a YA like living in polygamous marginalised societies, giving answers to why women stay in the home and lots of symbolism about slut shaming. Definitely worth a read if you wonder society acts the way it does.

Right and Lucy was a very sweet and innocent girl not this lustful woman (not even after Dracula started drinking her blood)
It was also a metaphor for the lower/working-class disdain for the aristocracy and the feudal society which proceeded it.

01:46 I can't be the only one who laughed at the fact that they had to cut that scene because of the impossibly long and awkward pauses xD
Two things that I didn't see you mentioned but I thought worth mentioning:
- neck is a very sensual spot and biting/the idea of biting can be arousing (neck kisses are popular for a reason) (also adds to the "rape" aspect of Dracula)
- people, at least some, have an innate fascination for blood (be it out of interest (me lol) or because blood plays an important role in culture)
This probably fits somewhere combined with the tropes mentioned
Good points! From other comments I’ve seen, vampiric hunger is something people totally get or are totally turned off by. Those who dislike it are sickened by the mere concept of a creature that consumes human fluids. Those who are into it see those more sensual aspects that you mentioned

It’s ironic how vampires, werewolves, zombies, ghosts, and other monsters are portrayed and viewed as perfect partners in romance and sex. If they weren’t played by attractive actors and actresses, people would run away immediately rather than try to start a relationship with them.
Agree!
They have to be attractive to make up for their being monster and creators want to make them romantic partner because they want to appeal to people who feel insecure.

Yeah this is a good point
@Noah Stepp, vampires from Slavic Balkan are believed to have HUGE sexual stamina. They tend to seduce human women and even have relationship with them. Plus, in Slavic Balkan vampires can have half-vampire children, known as VJEDOGONJA, VAMPIROVIĆ, VAMPIRČE,...among Slavs.
@@lenarosic Thanks, that further proves my point!

Please do a Take on how Middle Easterners are depicted in Western media (like the terrorist trope, the immigrant trope, and the oppressed woman trope).
Specifically related to Iran and Afghanistan.

Who🤷🏾♀️
The hanging out with teenagers thing kind of bugged me. The vampires brain is still evidently changing, they typically have long and continually developing memory, so why on Earth would they have interest in young women... I mean there is the obvious, I get that much, but Angel and Buffy? (Which quite creepily started a few years before she was legal in the US.) and other full fledged relationships?
-
and even if the vampires questionable or differing moral standards are the cause, do you know much I have in common with a 16 year old?
-
I guess its just the nature of Hollywood and the like that almost everyone be young and attractive, especially women, but it seems to me that a vampire in a real relationship (Rather than just feeding.) would be considerably more taken with older men and/or women who would share a considerably larger portion of their life experience.
i agree with this wholeheartedly! as much as i love a good star crossed lovers ship, buffy and angel just didn't make sense to me because of their centuries long age gap (ew...) and when he got his own spinoff and was upgraded beyond shadowy brooding figure, i understood his pull to buffy even less. there's no way anyone can tell me that _that_ version of angel would've wanted anything to do with a teenager, much less fall in love with her.
his love for cordelia makes much more sense because they saw each other grow into the people they loved and at that point cordelia was very much an adult at that point. 21 is still too young for my taste because like you said, vampires would definitely be far more interested in older humans due to their comparable life experience and wisdom.
Just like blood they are attracted to youth
I was literally looking up on this subject a few days ago, the take is spying me 👀
Any mention of Marceline?
The brooding vampire is only one type- Angel/ Stefan. Then there are the vampires who revel in it - Spike / Damon.

"what is a man? nothing but a miserable little pile of secrets! but enough talk, have at you!" - also dracula
"IT WAS ME, DIO" - Dio brando
The Spike, Drusilla, and Vamp Willow erasure is egregious.

"The lust of the vampire fits into teenagers' desire to be seen as special."
Yeah, special without having to put any effort into it.
@@FabalociousDee yep why most of us fall for the fuck boy. everyone is unique tho and doesn't have to change their face or personality to be a special one for somebody
@@FabalociousDee Yes, society does trip over young people, but only a certain type.

The Toreador are creatures of beauty and passion, and most of them were musicians, artists and poets in their mortal lives."
Which pretty much fit this video of vampires.
I want ya'll to know, you had me at "we have merch". All I do is encourage people to watch your channel. I love your content so much and often times I only watch movies/shows because you suggest them.
Lestat and violin my fav scene from any book
I want to see a depressed do nothing vampire with a drinking disorder
then watch Only Lovers Left Alive
@@hannah8williams good movie.
It's been awhile, but I think the American version of "Being Human" touched on it.
I mean Stephan from Vampire Diaries was sort of depressed most times, and would go full ripper. Which is like the vampire version of an alcoholic that would go on binges. That series is so freaking good.
That's just Damon from TVD but hot
Hi, can you please make a video about disabled character tropes?
I had been complaining about Spike looking similar to Kiefer's character in Lost Boys when people complained another show ripped off Buffy simply because of similar aesthetics. Learning Whedon really was inspired by Lost Boys just further proves my point about characters having similar aesthetics.
Literally so obsessed with this channel!! Such amazing, thorough film analysis!! But they're advertising their merchandise like I didn't buy a hoodie the moment it was available lmfao
The Sexy Vampire feels guilty about having to feed on people..... I always thought the sexy vampires were the ones who don't.... hmm
It’s just really unrealistic at this point, there’s nothing really attractive about a creature who craves your insides......
Obviously not true for everyone, but look at the people who love Ted Bundy. It’s a real thing.
@@rachelhansen2417 man there’s some twisted people out there
@@rachelhansen2417 y e p.....
it's just another version of being attracted to the bad boy or a criminal. It's dangerous, edgy... A lot of people do like the thrill of being around danger or in danger.
I think the obsession comes from the star crossed lovers aspect that is usually depicted.
I wish more production companies would take up new takes on vampires. They make the idea of ducking blood painful but many texts explore if the blood sucking felt good. Fledgling by Octavia butler for example is really good. I wish they'd make a movie or TV show based on that.
Lestat could GET IT anywhere, anytime.
I don’t know how you guys manage to bring out so many great videos week after week but keep it coming!!
When there's Angel, Spike, Darla, Drusilla, and Vamp!Willow, why show Edward so much? lol!
I came for Angel, and I was not disappointed 😍
I don't there was enough Angel!! I wanted so much more!
@@veronicamars4124 that’s true, I wanted more Angel but I was happy for him being there at all! I was expecting that he would end up left out 😓 thankfully he was not
I'm going to be completly honest here, every time she said sexy vampire and the Edward Cullen apairs on the screen, part of my soul dies a litlle, that is, for me, probably the most unatracted vampire on history!!!
Hi
Ok
@Nani maybe cuz of the actor who played Edward?
I'm just here to get a glimpse of Spike and Angel
I'm SO GLAD kindatv got some love with their reimagining of Carmilla!
Everyone: Lestat and Louis...
Anne Rice: This is absolutely not funny, delete it immediately or my lawyer will be in contact
@heni tink Welp you said it XD
Did she stop chasing fanfic writers?
I would love a video on inpatient behavioral psych wards. I feel like there’s a lot of misconceptions and I love what you guys do!
What about SPIKE!!! William the bloody is the sexiest, and totally missing! I keep getting the feeling that The Take is not into Buffy.
They really missed the mark by not putting Spike into some of the scenes.
I'm so watching the lost boys again.
A terrific film by the late Joel Schumacher
I can't believe you didn't use Pam from True Blood, except her images :D she would have been a fun addition to the execution of the analysis
Maybe they did that to show that they are still monsters.
Yet they romantise that shit like the one with all the power is making the human willingly choose especially if it's a young female 🤢
@@bulumkomadaza5755 depends on when that book was read, in the 21st century we're able to tell...back then were they able to?
I loved Vampire Academy and Bloodlines!
I will be honest, this just hit the spot after rereading some old LouisxLestat fics...
Tho Im kinda sad this video had no reference to the animated ones, Castlevania is cool~
This is a really engaging essay even by the generally solid standards of The Take.
Bram Stoker's "Dracula" did it for me. Especially, the part of the myth that made the blood of virgins the most cherished.
In the buffy finale angel says he will wait for her
