That's a great idea to not use a pin pointer right away. When I dig a plug, I'll immediately get my pin pointer, and yes it finds every nail, hardware and the target item. The problem is, I'll spend 10-15 mins cleaning out the trash, rather than just getting the initial target. Lots of wasted time. Thank you! Love your videos! Keep swinging! :D
Sorry for the earlier video I posted just a few minutes ago. It was supposed to follow this one tomorrow. Anywho... I hope you like this one!

Thanks for watching…. The Chigg
I'm already liking it Chigg!👍😃
AWESOME
Hey Chig you ever make it over
to Kentucky to hunt?
Love Ur detecting and caving videos my 8 yr old and I watch them all the time... We are trying to buy garret at max or pro but they are hard to find around my city lol
Can I pick up a hat somewhere in the county?
WOW you guys were on it...
Congrats Todd on BUSTIN THEM QUAD SILVERS
What a beautiful old house and location
That is a lovely place Chigg, glad you got to hunt it with Todd. The cider press looks like the one on my brother in-laws orchard. He used to make apple cider a lot, but since his and our kids have grown, we all seem to be too busy to do it anymore. Times change but it's okay, because my son just put pumpkin pies of his own making in the oven, a skill he learned from his grandmother. My hubby's out elk hunting for our winter meat supply, so some of our traditions still live on. I gotta say, that place looks like a Norman Rockwell painting, it is so nice. Congrats to Todd on finding that great coin spill too! Hope the 2nd episode is as fun as the first. Your laughter never gets old.
Thanks Lesa. Would love to taste Elk...
@@AppalachianHistoryDetectives No luck on an elk this week end. They got rained out. The guys went west to the coastal range to hunt and it rained so hard they just got cold and soaked and didn't see a thing. Hopefully they'll do better soon.
@@lesahanners5057 hey you got some rain. Aren’t you guys needing some of that? It is 76 here right now. Crazy
@@AppalachianHistoryDetectives It is 46 right now, but at least the wind has dropped. Yes we did get a bit of rain here a few days ago. We get about 15 inches of rain a year on average, but where Gregg went on the coastal range it can get up to 200 inches. We live about 150 miles from the coast. On average, if traffic is good, 2 1/2 to 3 hours travel time.
Gregg has decided to go hunting just 60 miles north of us, with a friend who has access to elk on private property. It should be a lot dryer and certainly more convenient. He won't have to camp out and can come home in the evenings.
Sure wish we had you 76.
@@lesahanners5057 wow that’s quite a range in a short distance. We have Elk here but they are illegal to hunt. They are all tagged and monitored by the DNR due to their small herd size. What do they taste like?
There is a Buffalo farm here 5 miles from me. I like seeing them too.
What a beautiful home.
Chiggs I love watching you and Todd together. He is so serious and you make him laugh. You are a great team
Cool axe head chigg an well done to todd awesome little silver spill looking forward to tomorrow from England 👍👍
Thanks for the video beautiful place great coin spill!!😎🐓🐓🇬🇧
Love your videos and look forward to each one that comes out! My 4 year old son loves to watch along with me. He especially likes the tight cave squeezes and exploring old “wooden” houses, as he calls them. He doesn’t like the new looking houses😂 I caught him pretending to be AquaChigger just this week. He was using the couch for his boat and diving into the floor “water” to find all of his treasures, which he then proceeded to describe in true Chigg detail😂 His new favorite phrase?? “Hold yer breath!” I may have to get the kid a cheap metal detector for Christmas 😬
When I'm out magnet fishing in rural Illinois people ask me why I'm not metal detecting to find really valuable stuff. I say because I don't want to swing a heavy detector and carry a giant shovel. They think the good stuff is right on top. I tell them to watch Aquachigger to see the kind of brawn it takes to dig out legit relics.
Cathryn, I'm in northern Illinois. The southwest burbs of Chicago. Are you near me or further south? I'm getting a Garrett detector for Christmas, are you never getting into detecting? Just wanted to say hi 😊
@@michaelhargis7036 Thanks for saying, hi, and good luck with the metal detecting. Honestly, I've found enough fishing gear and railroad relics from magnet fishing to satisfy me. Still looking for the gun, though, but next summer I might try my hand at metal detecting. Need to lift weights through the winter to prepare!
@@TFDwriting They aren't as heavy as you would think. Some detectors have great ergonomics, and the weight is displaced. In my experience, tossing a magnet and retrieving, is just as hard on you. I highly suggest if you do decide to try detecting, to get a pinpointer. Good luck to you finding that gun! It's only a matter of time. Be safe out there!!
@@dogmosatchmo Thanks for the encouragement! And you're right, I have a small magnet but it's a workout if you do it for a couple of hours. Even harder when you're pulling in a 6-foot sign post or a bike! I'll do some research this winter and give it a try :-)
What a glorious fall day & a marvelous old homestead!
Todd takes the day with his silver cache! But the axe was pretty cool too. Another great hunt!
Awe Todd I’m so happy for you!!!! This is awesome!!!
My heart dropped a little there when it just shut off!
Todd found SILVER!!!, NICE
nice finds all together there Beau!!!; )
You're right that was a good spill find! Loved your video
Wow Beau can't believe I have been watching you for 13 years.
4 silver dimes and a wheat penny Todd definatly won that round.
LOL pitch them back in when he's not looking!😂🤣
What a nice coin spill! Woohoo! Hey, nice ax head Beau!! I need moar!☆☆☆☆
The best part for me growing up, was finding the dump at the old houses. Of course todays me kind of shudders at the amount of blue glass mason jars, or medicine bottles, old whiskey bottles we smashed while we dug up the old dump, or old cellar hole. Although back then we didn't even have cable tv, and we couldn't take our .22s out without dad yet because we weren't all 12 yet. Wow, old days 🤔
New to detecting, dug 100 holes in my yard, watched about 30 of your videos, thanks for the insight
I love how knowledgeable he is love his channel have been a fan of his for a while now
The letter could also be from a temporary gravestone. We used to have a bunch of those letters when my grandpa was head of the cemeteries in the town he lived in.
Excellent location and content Chig!
Nice coins! Old house is cool too!
Nice finds! Can't wait to see what else you guys unearth👍
I got a 4 silver spill last week or so, 2 Barber Quarters 2 Barber Dimes, 3 were 1800's 😁 congrats on your sweet spill.
awesome man!! good stuff!
Boooooo over silver cache. Beau did his thing
Nice Old House , enjoyed the video.
Awesome day for you guys stay blessed and see you again on the next episode of you young man 👍🙏🍺
Great day for you guys! Enjoyed watching:-)
Aquachigger finds all kinds of treasure, with E’s.
You found a silver today for sure
Such a beautiful place. That old house is awesome. Great find Todd. CHIGG you and Todd really need to stop with these beautiful mountains. I need to visit them once more
Great coin spill. Thanks for sharing
Love the Frankenshovel, Chigg!
8 never thought about pitching them back in when they aren't looking, 🤔😊thanks chigg👌👍
The .30-30 cartridge (otherwise known as .30 WCF Winchester Center Fire) is an old cartridge design which used the (brand new at the time) smokeless powder. Back then smokeless powder was not as good as it now, so this doesn't apply anymore.... but the second 30 in the name stood for how many grains of powder it used. So .30 caliber with 30 grains of powder. Just like .44-40 (.44 projectile and 40 grains of powder) or .45-70 (.45 caliber projectile and 70 grains of powder). Although those other two used black powder, the .30-30 was designed in that transition period when they were still using the old terminology but with the new smokeless powder.
It is possible to date the cartridge based on the headstamp markings. It would be neat to know roughly when that cartridge might have been used.
VHFGamer i just found a live Winchester brand 30-30 round i cleaned it up and shot it through my model 94 had to have been in the ground 30 years judging by the headstamp testament to quality :)
Thanks for sharing and congrats to your buddy on the coin spill. Always good hearing the numbers and sounds. Looking forward to seeing tour 1793 coin in Part 2 of this video, wouldn’t that be something.
Nice to see your shovel is fixed
i really like those 200+ year old houses....such rich history...
It's like Groundhog Day all over again and again and again and again🤣
Nice silver spill Todd. That item at 8:00 looked like a chicken leg band. Sometimes you can find the state and year of issue or even the hatchery on them.
Look IT'S TOD and his best good friend Mr CHIGG love ya Both
Nice coin spill that Todd got!
Thanks for explaining to people about the pinpointer not helping where there are multiple targets. 😉
Great find on the axe chig...and great find on the coin spill!!! Chig...the wheat penny was his and Todd threw the other ones...lol...just kidding...
Awesome finds guys. Way to go todd. Silver is good!! Another beautiful place to detect on an awesome fall day. It just don't get any better than that guys. Two friends out doing what they love to do an having lots of fun. I'm sure that you guys will find alot more coins an relics on the old home place even though it's been detected before. People always over look something. An I'm sure that you guys will find it. Chigg great video. Got my chiggs army hat headed to kentucky. Can't wait till it gets here. Throw in lots of chigg stickers to. Till part two; as always safe an happy hunting/ digging.😁👍👍
i'm glad to see you welded your trenching shovel handle back on
Neat place!
Can't wait for part 2! How exciting.
Great job Todd!
😃 Beautiful day, and some nice finds. I'd like to know if there was some design on that button... Cool axe head, would like to see it cleaned up. Todd got some "newer" coins - 😃 Merc's, awesome! I missed the mercury dimes when they dwindled away - always thought they were more impressive looking than FDR's head. Not that I don't like "Rosey," I guess I'm more of a classics person. (bring back the 'buffalo' nickel!) 😁
Thanks for posting, looking forward to the second part. Stay safe, stay healthy, GL, HH, C-ya soon! 😏 💕
Hi guys. Congratulations Todd.
that Todd was all self-control. Yep stuff flying everywhere if it was me.
just received today my CHIGG'S ARMY HAT AND MY STICKER and it's awesome 👌 so happy just want to share hahaha
Everytime I watch your videos im like... I NEED A METAL DETECTOR!!! 🤩🤩🤩
Sweet spill Todd congrats. HH and be well
Thanks
@@AppalachianHistoryDetectives you are welcome
The letter '' E '' that goes on a printing press is called '' linotype press '' which is for a 5lb. (4% tin - 12% antimony and 84% plomp). Those who reload ammunition and make bullet (like me) use this mixture which gives lead a very hard hardness and therefore less problem when the bullet passes inside the barrel at high speed (less residue from lead). On the presses in the past it was ideal because the letters or numbers deteriorated less quickly.
Nice heard and seen the silverton coal engine when I was up on the mountains and heard that troll train a few times
I'd rather have the axe head! Thanks Chigg for taking me along today.
Amazing that coin spill was still there despite this site been hunted previously. Great example that no site is every hunted out.
Wow! 100 acres! Here in Los Angeles and Orange county your lucky to get a 100x100 ' lot, and the cookie cutter houses are 12:ft apart! (Side to side) . Beautiful area ,Im so jealous! Want to be there too, Way too overcrowded here, with dust, soot and grey concrete.
I see and hear planes too
silver an gold silver an gold. chaching. yeaaa loved it gents lookin forward till the next'n.
Hello Mr aqua chigga from darkest Wales uk
WOW!! Absolutely stunning old farmhouse. This is exactly how I picture the America I admire from over the pond. Hopefully the stitches the American people put on her wounds the last 24 hours will start the healing that is so desperately needed. Stay safe! 🙂👍🏼🇺🇸
Once covid gets out of here, come and detect!
@@TDizzy420 That's the plan for my retirement years. America - Australia - Canada - Japan are all top of the list. Your invitation to your incredible country is gratefully accepted! Stay safe and well. 🙂👍🏼
@@James-oo1yq our stuff isn’t that old over here, but it’s still fun to look. We have a lot of Native American relics to be found and our National Parks are not to be missed.
Hey man thank you for the video I enjoyed and your buddy Todd found some silver there hi ho silver 👍
Awesome location!!

Good job Todd!
Congratulations guys !
Ty got your videos I always learn something from you Chigg .
I also have a at max and would always use the pinpointer in the hole first but learning from you that you can pick up other iron sounds with it , I’m going to use the detector first then the pinpointer . Ty again
Love that silver
Nice weld job on the shovel. :)
Nice finds
Coin spill all CC or O mint marks are nice.
Well done, keep it up.
Congrats on that silver dime spill thats awesome hopefully ill get a silver spill one day lol
Awesome, that’s what I’d like to find in my garden, but all I get is a load of aluminium from a broken down greenhouse and bits of rusty iron! 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
I've found aluminum and silver bands like that, that I found out go to toothpaste bottles, I found a whole one with the band on it.
I love that ground
LOVE IT CHIGG!! STILL HAVE YET TO FIND MY FIRST SILVER COIN... One day it will come I hope hopeful! I'm still new c: Happy detecting thank you for the video!
Congrats Todd whoohoo!! 👍
Another good video Chigg 🤙
Glad to see you fixed your spade 👍😂
Love ya chigg!!
The other "30" is for the thirty grains of smokeless powder.
👍 I enjoyed your video 👍
I like all your adventure friends,Todd seems like a great guy I enjoy watching his adventures also...Darn it,I've watched all your videos, several times...after watching you its hard to watch others..some slower, some not as knowledgeable as you..lol..maybe I'm hard to please..lol
great video
What cameras are you using...osmo go pro ? Thanks for great videos!!
13:08 Interesting thing near the bottom right corner
Looks like a beautiful day to be digging. Enjoyed both of your finds. Was the ax a specific type because of the difference in style?
.30 is the diameter of the bullet in the casing and the other 30 is how many grains of powder
Did you make it to the grave sites love to watch that one ...Love history
Chigg and Todd awesome finds one day you two will hit gold a gold cache like that what luck y'all have take me with you😊
Have been subscribed for years. Thoroughly have enjoyed your channel. However ad's inserted mid stream in the video is where I draw the line. Adios Chigger!
The ads are inserted by YT not by Chigg.
Its a pain in the ass, and you tubes way to get you to pay money to skip out the adds, not happening.
That letter E looks like the type they use for temp grave markers
Did you ever have problems with brown grass spots digging full circle plugs ?
my husband calls those squirrel 'beds'. we eat the little boogers.
