Metal Detecting And Exploring: French And Indian War River Site

- Please join us as we metal detect and explore a cool, clear river in the mountains of West Virginia. We start at a modern bridge that was also the site of several other bridges dating back to the early 1800s. After not having much luck metal detecting there, we move to a nearby fording area and start finding lots of cool relics to include colonial-era buttons and even an American issue large cent. The most interesting find was a Spanish coin cufflink that I found that was worn by American colonials to show their disdain with Great Britain.

silver and gold silver and gold.great hunt fellers loved the colonial coin and the bell. cant wait fer the next'n
Thanks Beau and Todd! You guys are always great. Todd, those are fine boots, they don't let any water out. That latch looks like the ones on an old ice box. Yep, I'm that old. See ya on the next one.
I stepped in that deep hole he showed you all...haha
Nice little river , I think a land hunt just above the spot you found the buttons and coin would be a good place to detect. Thanks Chigg
Thanks for taking us along with you on your adventure.
Can't believe nobody beat you guys to that spot when the houses are so close! Nice finds guys!!
The Chigg back in his element. Beautiful river. Great boots Todd.
Lucky Chig finding fords. All I ever find are chevs.
James Barisitz; C'mon man 😏!
He does a lot of research and he has friends that do the same
@@HamSandwitchClips You're right, The Chigg does his homework plus, a small measure of luck and, the fact that he's familiar with a lot of the territory he hunts.
Wow,a musket barrel. Cool!
Neat stuff for sure.
Niceeeeee finds Beau! Cool knife and largie! Great surprise. Lots of buttons and that cuff was sweet!
Hello A.C., I hope that all's well with everyone/thing! Great finds today, you were on the ball, for sure. Keep up the good work and keep these vids coming ! You never know what you're going to dig up, that's pinging and digging for ya!! Have fun and be safe, take care, "God Bless", sincerely, Randy. 👍👍🙏🏻😇👊
Fun day on the river! Thanks!
Checking out your older videos. While I’m recovering.
What a catch Beau loved it as usual. I think that metal detector is the best for detecting finds from the past. Best of luck always.
Thanks Chig.
That little box looks like the aspirin boxes that you find in tackle boxes. They would drop one in the minnow bucket to keep them alive longer.....or so they say.
Chigg and Todd! Nothing better.
The small box at 24:53 reminds me of a small box we had as a kid the held Bayer aspirin in...🤷♀️
I do a lot of long distance kayaking, the paddle you found has an adjustable feather to reduce wrist strain. Also great for paddling into a head wind.
Awesome hunt! Thank you Augachigger. Really enjoyed it. Kelly/Indiana
I felt sorry for Todd because he had a few coins and some buckshot. Chigg had a big pile of loot!
The dial indicator on the paddle was so that you can adjust the pitch of the blade on the fly. Instead of changing hand position, you just keep it the same and increase or decrease your pitch to increase or decrease how much water the blade bites.
Awesome hunt! Looks like you both had a great day!
Dude, what a hunt. Awsome river and lottsa buttons. Great place Chiggbeau👊💥. Great hunt my brother, you the man. Sweet hunt n finds, look for Indian artifacts when ya go back too. Worth goin back after a flood😉. Thank u 2 Todd
Good adventure... Let's get that underwater drone in some caves! Let's find some new cathedral caverns! Littered with gold coins! Better invest in a scoop shovel!! Chigg
Aquachigger . Way cool content I been watching your videos for few years now greetings from the UK 🇬🇧🦊🐾
That old one cent coin is pretty sweet!
Great videos chigg. What a beautiful day to be out in the creeks. Why can't these days last forever ? If only they would. We know what awaits us in the coming months. Good old mother nature will bless us with snow white ground covering. Then not long till it all starts all over again. You guys had a day of great finds too. That's a day maker when you get to find those war relics an buttons an coins etc.. What a wonderful feeling it is when you reach down in that water an bring up a true piece of history. The best thing out of it all is you guys had a great day out as friends doing what we love to do. An that is hunting for the rewards the creeks are saving for us until we get to that spot. Well guys get out in the water as many times as you can before it's to cold to do it. An find those gold an silver coins an as many bullets an cannon balls as you can before it all freezes over. Chigg an Todd, as always safe an happy/hunting an good luck in the coming days.😁👍👍
Will you guys are having fun and don't forget to stay blessed and see you again on the next episode 👍🙏
That looks like a sarvin style wagon/buggy hub Mr. Chigg!
Awesome finds!
Thanks again!
I always look foreward to Sunday afternoon! Thank you for yet another great vid Chigg:)
Thanks for this interesting video. I was born and grew up in SW Pa near Fort Necessity, later Fort Ligonier and what is now known as Fort Bouquet. My grandparents were very much interested in history and heritage, igniting my lifetime of research and collecting. I feel more grateful now more than ever in that history and heritage are two things very much discouraged by educators. Please continue with your valuable hobby and know that there are people quite interested!

4.24. Copper twist sleeve used on old power lines
Thanks for sharing another great adventure!
Piece of a cuff bracelet - not sure what it's made of but it is hammered.
Nice Findz!
Beautiful my friend!! You know i love those french indian era finds!!
Man, what amazing finds! Its really amazing! Its fun to think about how those things got down there. Just found your channel and I'm hooked! Lol I think I'm going to go metal detecting as well. There are tons of old homes out here that are crumbling. Some you can tell belonged to people with some money, so who knows what I'll find.
That was a really relaxing hunt!
The fishing spinner is called a Shyster.
Chigg, with all those buttons and musket balls I thought you might find Ricky's great-great-great-grandpappy.
Cool to find that classic head largie. Nice find.
Great video
The copper electrical thing is a twist sleeve or twist splice
They were used to splice two ends of copper overhead power lines together
Primarily from early 1900s
They were replaced with modern splices in the 1960s
Another great video from the master of metal detecting.
My comments to show support for your Videos are as follows. -Big Thumbs Up
Nice river hunt hunt! Coin in really good condition considering! Thanks for video! I’m wearing my Chigg’s Army sweatshirt tonight😁 Cold here in Ohio💨
🙌 congrats on the sleigh bell! Sometimes it is the little things 💖
For water searching like that we used to use an old ping pong paddle for rapid movement of bottoms sand or soil.
I love the outro song man ! ...great stuff and very cool video...✊
As the writer/fly fisherman John Gierach put it in a title to his book, "Death, Taxes and Leaky Waders" ....good read by the way.
Very entertaining video! I started a magnet fishing channel a few months ago. I really want to start doing metal detecting as well. Nice job.
Great to see you out with ya old mate again 😜👍
that was a split shot fishing weight you found.
Surprised you didn’t find any ball buttons. I always find them at the French Indian war sites.
Wow! Great hunt.
FYI, if there are rifling marks, then it was fired from a rifle, not a smooth bore musket.
Hey man thanks for the video
awesome!
hair barrette i would say at very least 100 yrs old plus - ive got a few identical ones from old
beach/wharf areas where i found coins and relics from early 1900s late 1800s
Nice to see you back in the water getting your feet wet.
Love these river hunts! Don’t forget about selling Chigg hats !

I did not get any notices for this one, awesome finds
chig i think you could do with some 2 way radios, easy way to keep in contact with your search mates.........
@26:26 that is part of a sash lock for a window
Love it! Man I wish I'd get lucky and find s great spot like this! If only tho right lol
Hello Chigg. Good to see you....
I'm soo freakin jeleous that you get to hunt these places 😣
So was there a a battle spot right there at that spot? You sure found a few things to add to your tackle box. Since it was the French and Indian War I was hoping you might find some arrowheads or spear points, I know not with a metal detector of course, but that water was sure clear enough to see them if they were there. Thanks for sharing I do enjoy your videos God bless
Was just about to hit the hay then I get a notification for a chigg vid looks like I'll be here for another 30 mins. 😂 love the videos chigg, keep them coming.
Always fun Chigg 👍😎👍
