Remember Capt'n Billy and Thor? If not, you are in for a treat. This is the first of a series of videos I recently made when I traveled up to Jonesport Maine to visit with my friends. I hop you enjoy!
Most people don't realize that the original state of Massachusetts in colonial times stretched from the northern border of Rhode Island and Connecticut all the way up into what is now Vermont,New Hampshire and Maine
I lived in Washington county for about 14 years, nice to see you get up there! I have often wondered about the metal detecting opportunities in that area, people have lived there for 1000s of years, all of the houses are pretty dang old. As to the "well" in that field, hay fields in that area often have very high water tables and in the spring, as the snow melts, the water table can simply be the surface of the ground. That well maybe only 2 or 3 ft deep because the water table is so high.
At the 6:57 mark that brassy glass lens "thingy" looks to be an "inspection window" for an oil reservoir for a tractor. It was used to show the level of oil within a crankcase or something. That is my guess anyway. I have a similar "window" on my new Kubota MX-5400.
I agree with Capt Billy’s comment about finding that old Massachusetts stuff in Maine. Maine was actually part of Massachusetts back in history… so yes you would like to find something that goes back to that era
Enjoy your visit to Jonesport, leave some good stuff in the ground for when I get up there! We've got a place in town but we wait until the snow is really gone.
Chigg, It’s so awesome 😎 to see you in your element doing what you absolutely love to do! Maybe someday we’ll bump into each other in a field or creek!!! 🤣🤣🤣happy hunting brother!
Hey chig I seen this and thought it would make agreat video . I would be interested in seeing your point of view about it. Ghost Fleet of Mallows Bay, located in Maryland, USA. It is here that hundreds of ships were sunk, 230 alone by the United States Shipping Board Merchant Fleet Corporation, with more than 100 of the vessels being wooden steamships, part of a fleet built to cross the Atlantic during World War I. Because they were built of wood, most of these ships were already obsolete by the end of the war, and the U.S. Navy did not want them due to high storage costs. They were sold to the Western Marine & Salvage Company and moved to the Potomac River in Virginia, and eventually towed to Mallows Bay in 1925. The company went bankrupt and the ships were burned where they lay, only their hulls remain. Remnants of those ships and many others, some dating back to the late 1700s, also lie there, including an early 1900s four-masted schooner, and many other vessels from the 19th and early 20th centuries. I'm sure you don't have a choice to choose the ads.... One of them is brought to us by the good people of the Turdberry co.😂 Sorry, I just couldn't help myself!!!😂
Love your videos. I've been watching them for years. What do you think of the older Garrett GTI 1500 detector as opposed to the newer ones you are using?
WOW, I have not seen a video from you in a very long time! I am subscribed to you and clicked the bell, but never get notifications. strange. But Im glad to see you are still around! I will be watching all your vids!
I’m just over here waiting to hear an “ohmyneenit”! Love it when you come out this way! I’m just outside of concord mass and really enjoy the history here.
The brass thing with the lens is part of the cover to an oval tobacco box, also used to carry flint and steel. The lens is used to start a fire with the sun.
Always a great time seeing you hang out with Capt'n Billy and friends! Lots of fun! Looking forward to the upcoming uploads or downloads or whatever they are called. Happy Easter, fella's!

I've been wondering when they'd make a showing. 😁
@Leann I was wondering the same about you. ;)
There is a lotta history in Maine. I love it. Lived here all my life.
I love to hear their accent. Cap'tn Billy and Thor. 😊
@Aquachigger 🙂 not all who wander are lost... although, at times, it can feel so.
Such a nice treat getting to see Capt’n Billy again your videos with him are always so much fun
Glad to hear you enjoy.

Nothing better than 41 minutes of Capt. Billy!👍👍
I've been watching your videos for like 4 years or more now and today I finally bought a metal detector. Can't wait to use it.

Yep, you're probably right. I think a farm animal might die in it if it fell in though.
Yes they lose alot of short legged horses in them ol' wells. Mmmmhmm.
Happy Easter Chigg
To you as well.
beau, i gotta say you inspired me to finally purchase a detector. not expensive by any means but i found a 1900 Indian head penny alongside my house!
Have you ever found stone age tools in the south west/mojave especially ones that aren't arrowheads/spear points?
Manos and metates mostly.
YEAY! You're back with Cap'n Billy & Thoren!! Excellent ! - Muddypaw 🐾
Thanks for taking us along, Capt'n Billy and Thor are pistols. Thanks for the video.
A 4'x8' sheet of copper is 300+ dollars now.
What was the cost for a sheet before the country was stolen in 2020? Just curious. I don't know the answer.
Great video!!! Thank you and Happy Easter.
Love your videos ,especially the long ones ,keep up the good work .
Did the Cap’n explain why he wants to find stuff from Mass and not Maine? Maine became a state in 1820 and was part of Mass before that..
Exactly. Much of what we find was lost in Massachusetts but is now in Maine.
@@aquachigger right. Up where I live in Maine you don’t find much later than 1890-1900. 😩
Happy Easter everyone from Syracuse NY
And to you as well.
Thank you brother
Be safe Chigg and GOD BLESS
That cap with the lens looks like a way to see how much fluid (oil) in a motor. A sight glass.
At the 6:57 mark that brassy glass lens "thingy" looks to be an "inspection window" for an oil reservoir for a tractor. It was used to show the level of oil within a crankcase or something.
That is my guess anyway.
I have a similar "window" on my new Kubota MX-5400.
Think it's possible to combine metal detection and LIDAR? Might help dodge da junk and filter iron a little better
oh boy Capem Billy my favorite. BRAND SPANKER....❤
I agree with Capt Billy’s comment about finding that old Massachusetts stuff in Maine. Maine was actually part of Massachusetts back in history… so yes you would like to find something that goes back to that era
Yes. 1
You guys are great together! 😊
You were taking alot of medicine there, Chigg. They laughter is like good medicine which does the body good.
Yankees
Did Cap’n Billy make you an honorary MAINE-IAC??
The large brass cap with the lens looks like the objective portion of an old fashioned large format camera.
I Love it when you guys are together!
Wagon load of GOLD CANYONS, HAHAHA
Probably a piece of what left of a Handheld Spyglass
Thanks Chigg!! Always a hoot with the Cap!! Your mix of History, anecdotes, humor, and personal knowledge is why we all watch!!
Does your Friday find go to a cigarette tin? It had a magnifying glass to light cigarettes, now they use them in the bushcraft for fire starter kits.
Your first find may be the lens cap to an old fashioned camera?
Does Capt Billy have his own RUclips channel? If he doesn't he should! He's a riot!😅
If you came up Rt 1 to get there you went right by us, hi from Wiscassett
Great video brother so much iron and trash to hunt threw if your ever up around let me know I got a few spots keep on doing you brother
Hey chigg, how's it going? Glad to see you with your friends. Their a couple of characters.
Chigg....What is Capt. Billies favorite saying...? Was it "Leaverite" "leaver right there"....?
This is a common saying with rock collectors too. “Leave her right there. “ Leaverite
Net weight, for the rock with a hole in it ...
You have too much fun with Captain Billy and crew, think the lens thing a compass?
I'm thinking telescope lens.
Them two lads were so funny. I had a good laugh. Thanks chigg.
Enjoy your visit to Jonesport, leave some good stuff in the ground for when I get up there! We've got a place in town but we wait until the snow is really gone.
Yeah, it was too cold yet for me up there.
Chigg,
It’s so awesome 😎 to see you in your element doing what you absolutely love to do! Maybe someday we’ll bump into each other in a field or creek!!! 🤣🤣🤣happy hunting brother!

Anything they find, that was lost before 1820, was lost in Massachusetts. They are indeed looking for stuff that was lost in Massachusetts. Hh
Nice... can't wait to watch. I gota go means it's digable.warm today happy holiday
Is there going to be a meet up for the NH/ME fans?!
Southern NH fan here! A meetup would be wicked cool...like at a Dunkins.
I'm sure you don't have a choice to choose the ads.... One of them is brought to us by the good people of the Turdberry co.😂 Sorry, I just couldn't help myself!!!😂
Thanks Chigg great to see Capt. Billy and Thor
Thanks Chigg for another great AQUACHIGGER ADVENTURE
It could have been an old sheep watering hole, the machias region was a big sheep farming region during the 1800s. Many were not capped.
Love your videos. I've been watching them for years. What do you think of the older Garrett GTI 1500 detector as opposed to the newer ones you are using?
I found a old Spring Box in a swampy area outback. The water is clear and wicked sandy. I have a feeling something is in it. "DownEast Maine"
WOW, I have not seen a video from you in a very long time! I am subscribed to you and clicked the bell, but never get notifications. strange. But Im glad to see you are still around! I will be watching all your vids!
Roof shingles ...
I live in northern Maine and been watching the chig for a long time makes me happy.
That Ford piece was a center cap from a Model T wheel...1920s. I found one last month.
I’m just over here waiting to hear an “ohmyneenit”! Love it when you come out this way! I’m just outside of concord mass and really enjoy the history here.
Love these Downeast journeys!
6:42 Col. Wilhelm Klink has dropped his monocle or his old Kodak camera light lens. I'm going with the camera lens.
The first thing you found looks like it came off an old set of Binoculars possibly. The viewing end naybe
Hey Chig! When was this filmed? Wish I knew you were here. Would have bought you lunch
Hi
That thing with the glass lens at 6:55 looks like a part of a VERY old camera ??
THAT would be intersting..
I miss Maine.
That was fun. I have to say I love the song you play at the end! I know the words and I love singing it. See ya next time Chigg..
First 😅
I'm not a professional but I think the thing you found at 7 minutes was part of a women's compact But I might be wrong
Wow, you’re gonna find all that man. I am excited to see you there. Good luck.👍
When Chig say Ohh Bottle. I picture a dog with the caption Squirrel!
My guesstimate is that 4 cylinder engine block is off an old jeep.
Love ur vids and learning new things ! Thank you and keep em coming u rock!!
Nice to see Captain Billy 👏 👍
I Think The Brass Peace Looks Like The Eye Peace To a Old Tellacope. Just Me.
The brass thing with the lens is part of the cover to an oval tobacco box, also used to carry flint and steel. The lens is used to start a fire with the sun.
That's what I do with my scrap lead pour sinkers Happy Easter
Always enjoy u 3 together. Full of mysteries and laughs
Yay!! Glad to see capt billy! I’m from Maine also :)
think that heavy brass and glass piece is part of a telescope, check to see if the glass is magnifying
@7:05 probably a sight glass for oil or gas/ equipment related
Make sure your stop at Helen’s for a meal. We have always enjoyed it
That lens probably came from a pair of binoculars very old pair
It's like butta! BILL IS AWESOME! 😂
I'm pretty sure it's a sight glass for a piece of machinery
Your first find was the backing of a old telescope
I think the brass lid with the site glass was for monitoring oil level in a machine
the glass and brass item could be from a old wooden and brass telescope
Part of an telescope,a small one,or from eye piece from binoculars.
That steak was worth the drive I bet. Looked delicious
Roof patches Chig.
Makes sense. Thanks
When Cap'n Billy is along I end up laughing like a madman.
Love to see those guys again 😊❤👍🏽
HAPPY EASTER CANDY 60% off DAY CHIG!!!
These are the absolute best. I love Capt. Billy!
Always a great time seeing you hang out with Capt'n Billy and friends! Lots of fun! Looking forward to the upcoming uploads or downloads or whatever they are called. Happy Easter, fella's!
