I'm just picking up an electric guitar and this video + your comment made my day and pushed me to keep trying to be better
So much same. Not a brag but I can shred pretty hard, so not counting while I was developing those skills, I rarely saw people who could keep up with it unless I was listening to all the famous shredders that were clearly better than me by miles like Malmsteen and Gilbert.
But now it's like every other day I'll see some random guy with 20 subscribers who I would actually worry about a shred off with, and I love it so much. They're putting something in the water or something now but these kids are everywhere now. It wasn't like this even as little as 6 or so years ago, and it seemed to double since 2024. So HERE for it although a lot of people would be depressed to suddenly feel way more challenged by even non famous players in the guitar community.

Honestly, it's too bad you don't/can't give each of these players a custom guitar. Such incredible talent on display, and I'm really jealous of it! My personal favorite was Opus with Ecotauri a close second. And, thanks to the vid, the argument voice in my head is in German, something I'd managed to avoid until now.

congrats to the winner!! well done and also congrats to everyone who did contribute. i loved this challenge and i´m still continuesly working on it to be able to play it clean past 200bpm, i´m very happy because just by this challenge and the 30days modern metal guitar course i was able to make a noticable progress in my playing. bernth, your programm is amazing and helps alot. also i really loved the reaction video you made, you clearly show you have a very kind and positive attitude and mindset and are are great human beeing!

I’ve played guitar for 16 years on and off, started hard for years, then had adult stuff, lately I’ve been really hitting it again, with the help of very informative RUclips creators such as yourself (epic videos btw, your explanations are really easy to understand and apply). Now I’m spending three times longer watching instructional videos than playing the damn thing. It’s progress I suppose
I'm definitely going in for the next one, I only recently subscribed so I missed it.

I'm 40 and just picked up the guitar for the first time since I was a kid. Starting all over is hard and trying to to watch as many videos to help relearn is tough but thus channel is inspiring

I’m 44 and just learned a 12 bar blues shuffle this is daunting to watch this awesome playing but it’s inspiring just the same good stuff guys and girls and bernth good stuff keep it up
This riff is no doubt a tricky one, but if I can let you in on a secret, playing faster metal stuff sounds way harder than it actually is in many cases. People have complimented me on my playing before and I'm honestly a hack compared to most other guitarists, but a few sliding riffs and some tremolo picking convinces them otherwise.
Brazilians who haven't had Engish classes yet are mispronouncing Ibanez guitars. I've met many over the last 25 years while living here who got it wrong.

not trying to be negative but what I see generally ( specially in rock music) is many people just get lost in the world of being fast, accurate, technically virtuous instead of trying to write beautiful songs. Many of the best song writers in rock music were actually not that highly technical and they would easily lose in a competition like this !

Anyone with a smartphone can post a video playing some music, musical geniuses or not. Remember early Germs and other punk bands, they could barely play a chord and, yet, had weekly gigs in small clubs or parties. Being a genius is great, but everyone can express themselves. If they buy a wink dink guitar and amp and start making some noise, great, let them do it.🙂

Can't deny my influence. In my teenage years and young adulthood I listened and played so much bodom, watched and learned hours and hours the rockhouse method DVDs and definitely picked up many things from alexi over the years.
Even though I actually never realized it until about a year ago, when I really started uploading things and people keep telling me, even if I'm not even playing bodom.

Sometimes I wonder if some of the videos are slightly sped up (by 5-10%) to make everything look crazy rapid & faster, the hair/head jerky motions often betray the videos which are not running at proper true speed. 👍
I can only assure you about my videos, there's nothing fake going on there, everything is at the exact same speed as recorded.
I would not even consider doing that. You know, i don't think music is a competition and I don't have to prove to anyone what I'm able to play. Speeding up the recordings would maybe fool many people, but you fool yourself and that's for sure.
If some people (or maybe even you?) would think that my stuff is sped up, then I absolutely take it as a compliment rather than an insult, cuz i know it's not and people thinking that would be absolutely amazing. Haha.

@@Dignityofficial_ Well if you look at the videos of guitarists such as Damian Salazar for example (or many others, increasingly - unfortunately so!) you can tell (if you have a well rehearsed eye and also ear maybe) that something is sped up by a 5% or 10%, just in the way or speed in the way people move in the background, the hands also at times, the motion of the hair, etc - it's clearly not natural...

That's because is right pronouciation of the brand. "Aibanés" is how the unitedstaters pronounce. That's a latim name the "I" is closed, sounds like the "I" in "prison".

My challenge: Tremolo triplets alternating on every string fluidly, all over the fretboard, do a backflip, then jump to multifinger tapping at the end while taking a dump on a McDonald's employee after ingesting 2 laxatives. Only for professionals.
the Ibanez is a spanish last name, it's come from the spanish Luthier Salvador Ibáñez, "the more you know"!
No ones says girls can’t shred, shredding does not require physical superiority. Being musically gifted is unisex, but being musically creative is mostly a masculine thing, women can mimic but can’t create something memorable. But in general women see metal being too masculine (aggressive) for their liking, they prefer Bad Bunny to Lamb of god. My wife for example likes Megadeth, but only when I play it on the radio or with my guitar, but on her own time she listens to Bad Bunny, Maluma, Banda Recodo, Mana basically effeminate crap I hate.
Why do I even bother... Yet here I sit longing to remove my guitar from its case for another go-round (It's bedtime here). I know tomorrow's session will be special because today's didn't go so well. That's how guitar has always worked with me. Jesus I'm weird.
You made me to find out what is the correct pronunciation of the Ibanez. It comes from the Spanish luthier Salvador Ibáñez, so the spanish pronunciation is the correct one, no "eibahnes" :)
1:22 that pronunciation is the closest to the original Spanish word. It is how we pronunciate it here in Spain. We know it's a Japanesse brand but it's for sure an Spanish second name. Actually it would be Ibañez, being ñ similar to portuguese nh or french gn. Anyway I guess everybody can pronunciate the way they want. I slay english words sometimes.

That's actually how Ibanez is pronounced in some parts of the world (wrong, but it's more natural for natives since i is not pronounced 'eye' like in English, it's like the i in intelligence). At least in the Nordics.

Oh wow, I missed out. Cool little riff, I coulda played the hell out of it! You said something about picking with an open hand not being proper. That might be true of people with strat style guitars where you smack yur fingers into the volume knob But I was taught and many teachers of classical guitar and Metal that you can rest a pinky on the body of the guitar to stabilize hand position and also rest on the strings to mute strings you dont want to ring. I just dont see how having your hand cramped up in a ball is helpfull in anyway other than saving your fingers from a badly placed pot. Love your channel and hope to compete in one of your challenges soon. Very cool content

I mean, to be fair, that's actually closer to how the name Ibanez is pronounced in Spanish. Although in Spanish the "i" has an accent and the "n" has a tilde: Ee-bahn-yez
These were great! .. loved them all .. but, THIS right here was why I didn't bother .. hold on, I need to go throw another one of my guitars on the fire .. ok, back .. yeah, these were all awesome and I have finally figured out a good use for the couple of guitars I have .. keeping warm, because obviously I can't play them worth a crap.

@@Dignityofficial_ - LOL .. no worries .. I'll still keep picking away on my guitar (annoying my wife an neighbors) and working on the excellent content Bernth creates (it's the best, he's the best). It does get a little bit disheartening seeing so many great people play so well so easily. I used to play pretty well, about 35 years go, but I'm getting to be an old fart now (59) and trying to re-learn guitar, and trying to do it the right way this time. Bernth is an important part of my new re-learning journey. His Patreon is well worth the money, every penny.
