IMO this is not a simple end of a relationship. He is the one who is dead. It is Damiano who drowned at the beginning of the video, but he returns for his funeral to tell his loved ones that he loves them and that they don't have to be sad: "You are the saddest part of me that will never be mine..." words that he never told them before.
I probably wouldn't have come to this conclusion from words alone but the music video really does support your interpretation. It is a bit ambiguous with everything together but I like your interpretation :)
Damiano said he wrote it while they were in LA because they were here for 3 months and was feeling lonely and homesick because his girlfriend couldn't Come because she was sick. So he was thinking what would happen if he were to die. So he decided to write a song that he would leave to the one he loves if he were to disappear : What he would like to tell them
Nice review. I agree with your interpretation of the lyrics. I felt similar. Damiano says he writes lyrics to be a little vague on purpose. He said he wrote this song while he was separated from his loved ones for several months and feared he might not see them again I like the song a lot and for me brought up recent family losses, and is a little cathartic.
thank you. I'm sorry about your losses - that's what art can help us with - channel the emotions. When I write music - it's therapeutic. I'm not the one to talk about what bothers me that much but putting it into a song helps tremendously.
Damiano spoked about the lyrics in an interview. It’s not the end of a relationship. Is deeper. Is about dead and what you have told or not told to your loved ones.
He has to go, he cannot stay even if he wants to and he wants to be sure that he has said I love you to those he loved regardless of who they are: mom, dad, brothers, sisters, girlfriend and friends. Yes, it's a love song, a 360 degree love
@@rjakobej I hope not to sound opinionated, if I point out that you are certainly right, but some sentences did not leave much room for imagination, if I tell you that "I have to go", it means that: either I go to jail or I run away from something or I die, like : "There’s a few lines that I have wrote In case of death, that’s what I want That’s what I want", another clear revelation, "So don’t be sad when I’ll be gone", "Cause I don't evеn care about the time I’ve got left here".
@@simsi74 as I said - there aren't really right or wrong answers/opinions. I was at a disadvantage when making this video - I didn't know anything about the song or its background and I didn't have lot of time to think about it (I could have had more edits but I wanted to make it more authentic). Yes, the music video may go in a different direction from my interpretation but again - it's all relative. At the end of the day - any song will mean different things to different people. Happened to my songs as well. I had (a relatively clear) message and people though it was about something different. If you want to give it a go, my song IAKO BEI - A Way to Oppose (it's on my channel) is a good example of the misinterpretation of lyrics.

It's not necessatly a couple relationship and a breakup it could be a friend or a relative anyone very dear and for some reason lost forever...IMO the song is more about regret for a chance lost forever of telling to someone very dear what we didn"t tell when we could have but didn't.... we live our lives taking most people for granted never telling them or not telling enough how important and dear they are to us... not thinking that life or death might take away the opportunity to do so...when he sings "you'll be the saddest part of me" IMO it means his memory of that person will always be tainted with regret of not showing his love when he could have but didn't...
Most of Måneskin songs are not really about romantic love. You need to remember that when you interpret their songs. For example when they mention Marlena (5+ songs), she is not a woman, but their muse/inspiration. And Coraline is about wanting to support a loved one that has a sad story.
I mean, it can be about both. Marlena is a muse but it doesn't change the fact that he wrote her like a romantic love. This song has this "letter in case of death" vibe, but (at least the chorus) was referencing his girlfriend, so it is romantic in a way.
I think the song is very ,"generic" , in rock terms. I think it's to cater to US, radio, TV, MSM, commercial, audiences. It's not bad , but can't compare to their other Italian masterpieces IMHO. Their other Italian songs is what set them apart from other rock groups , made them different!
well, if you want a song that can become an enormous hit, you don't really have too many options. Good-quality and original music isn't really popular (but it's all very subjective of course)
I definitely will :) btw - if you like the variety and sonic and musical innovation, I think you will really dig my music - rock without guitars (instead there's drums, bass, saxophone, keyboards and singing) :) The first album (IAKO BEI - Pursuits in 1ife) is out everywhere and 2 songs out of the upcoming second album have been released so far :) Let me know your thoughts :)
