I’ve watched lots of how to videos on RUclips, and there is absolutely no one that comes close in quality or detail to the videos that A1 Auto produces ! TYVM A1 Auto !
Thanks for giving such easy detail and step by step instructions for those of us who are "RUclips Mechanics" it literally took me about 40 minutes to complete the job of replacing both sides.
Hey just wanted to say thanks for making this video! My dad and I had this on while we replaced the headlights on my truck and everything went pretty well. Thanks!
I’ve been buying from A1 for a couple years. The parts are always good quality and the shipping is fast. The videos are awesome! Always plenty of detail that saves me a lot of time. Thank You A1!
Thanks for the video! I found getting the headlight assembly out was quite a task. Could not push it down far enough. Took a 4 inch putty knife and put it in the top and it worked like a shoe horn...pop right out in seconds.
Pro tip. There is a bracket to the inside of each headlight. If you take that bracket out, the headlight will rotate right out without it fighting you like it did him.
Thank you for the awesome removal and re-install video! Quick Question, if you're installing new headlight assemblies on an '07 Silverado with a daytime running light LED strip between the high and low beams, what do you wire the LED strip to? Thank you.
I have replaced all 4 bulbs without taking anything apart but moving the air filter housing out of the way. However, I have new headlight housing to swamp out due to damage, so this is nice. It should be like 3 bolts and slide out, so stupid. I appreciate the prep.
I have done the same for the bulbs, I believe most of these steps are necessary for this model year. Way more complicated for most people compared to the earlier model years
You would probably want to test the headlight out after connecting the new lights , before putting it all be together. Great video though. I’ll use it for my headlight change, thanks.
I have a 2011 gmc sierra 1500 and the head light housings have small tabs on top that I don't see in this video. I was messing with a few and they broke off. Is that the only difference? Does everything else come off the same as in the video?
FYI on the upper bolts you can use a long extension and the ratchet turns into a spinner. I have a set of Mac Tools and use the longer more than the short.
Stupid design. Should never have to take the grill and wheel splash guard out. GM should have stuck with the retainer stake design on the earlier models. Could change it 3x for changing this one once
GM only does this for people who aren't mechanically inclined so they take it to a shop to get it done. Not that you have to be mechanically inclined to take a grille off, but they want to make you work for it
Is it really necessary to take the grill off in the top cover and all that to get to the headlight I mean cuz it seems like it's about ready to come out with just taking those two or three bolts out on top
I also took the top two bolts out of the bracket next to the headlight and loosened the bottom bolt to let that bracket pivot to the side and this gave me extra room to get the headlight in and out.
Good video. But I just can't get used to seeing people working on vehicles with latex gloves on. Guess I'm old, and don't mind getting dirt on my hands
If I am getting moisture build up in one of the headlights, do I need to replace the whole headlight? Or do you sell the rubber gaskets for around the outside of the headlight to the connection point?
+Bob Pipech Usually, moisture will come and go over time. Water pooling at the bottom of a light will indicate an issue. Thanks for checking us out! 1aau.to/m/Shop-1AAuto-c
The tutorial on setting your headlight broadcast height is in error. The level for both lights should be at the level of the headlight. Which is why you can't do that on that freaking truck. The truck uses the highest position for the low beam. And it shouldn't be all that is doing is blinding oncoming drivers and people that you're coming up behind. You should use the lower element as the low beam. Hence the name. But the top edge of the light in Mission Valley should be at the same level. Otherwise within about 100 foot you are not Illuminating anything in front of the driver. You're depending on the right side low beam to do all of any decent distance illumination. I don't know where you got that idea that you put it 2 in below level or 4 in below level. But they should be at level. At the worst you should be less than half a degree below level at 100 ft. Which would make it 6 in at 100 foot. Now you're talking about less than an inch and a half for both headlights at 25 ft.
It has always been my intention, that although there were some good engineers and general motors. The morons that decided to require you to take part of the wheel tub out of the way and take the grill off the automobile before you could get the headlights off of the vehicle are absolute idiots. General Motors for several years had a nice clean you lift the hood you pull two locking mechanisms up and you slide the headlight bucket out and replace it. A completely clean and simple removal and reinstallation. As an addition, the price you're paying for that headlight assembly, the wiring should already be on it. There's also a problem with where they put the low beam in high beam on the truck. These trucks set relatively high and even if you're low beam is set level you're constantly blinding oncoming drivers and drivers that you're coming up behind. The low beam should be on the bottom of the headlight assembly not the top
You do not have to take the entire trim piece out. And you guys are crying over nothing. It is not difficult at all to do this task. So what if you have to pull a piece of trim out of the way these are set in much more stable than the previous generation. The earlier ones are so much easier but they are also junk as far as keeping them aligned
Its why I just ordered a new set of after market lights, my low beams went out 3-4 days ago and if I'm basically gonna have to disassemble the front end, I'm at least putting new LED lights in.
Stupidest design ever. Tear half the front end off to replace a light. Might as well replace them all when you have the damn thing torn apart. Hate my 08. Love my 02 soo simple to replace on the 02

Can literally take out my 06 duramax headlights in 10 seconds. They went from having the most accessible headlights to the most inaccessible.
Let me introduce you to an OBS ford
10seconds is for both sides on a 99-07
and 4 disk brakes for overall better braking back to rear drums, what was up with that...
Way over engineering, someone needs to be fired!!!!
And that’s how fast they used to be for people to steal them also

+D. Uggla Thank you!
Very informative video covering grill and headlight housing removal and installation. The headlight aiming video at the end was an important bonus!
Hey just wanted to say thanks for making this video! My dad and I had this on while we replaced the headlights on my truck and everything went pretty well. Thanks!
Thank you chevy for making it so difficult to just replace a simple lightbulb

Thanks. These videos have helped me learn how to work on my truck without paying anyone 🙏🏽🤠
Thanks for the video. It's helped me out a lot and save me tons of time.

+nsboost Thanks for the tip! We'll pass this info along to our production team.
wow thank Chevy for making it almost 300percent harder then my old Silverado

All because of the third bolt is why all the other componets have to be removed.
I have done the same for the bulbs, I believe most of these steps are necessary for this model year. Way more complicated for most people compared to the earlier model years
Very helpful video, thanks!

Test twice bolt once
These dudes must work by the hour cuz it doesnt take that long especially for replacing the bulbs... took me like 30 minutes
This video was perfect. Thanks👊🏾💪🏾

So wonderful
Thank you so much.
Thanks for the channel!
10/10 video thanks a lot!
The push clips on my radiator cover were a real hassle to reinstall, turns out I took out the entire clip, don't make the same mistake lmao

If you look closely the assembly will hit the grille
I broke the plastic tabs off while trying not to remove the grill
WERE AND WHAT KIND OF CLIP HOLDS THE GRILL IN TO DO A GOOD JOB SHOWING THE CLIPS
Thanks for providing video
I also took the top two bolts out of the bracket next to the headlight and loosened the bottom bolt to let that bracket pivot to the side and this gave me extra room to get the headlight in and out.
Wish i knew this before I bought my headlights 😂
Good video. But I just can't get used to seeing people working on vehicles with latex gloves on. Guess I'm old, and don't mind getting dirt on my hands
Does that year model have butyl as a sealant between the housing and lens?
I am failing to see what is updated over your older video?
Front grill has to be off, the video failed to mention that

@@1AAuto headlights shouldn't have issues with moisture getting into them. That indicates poor quality parts.
If I remove and reinstall the same lens assembly do I still need to adjust it?
Thanks!
Thank you
50 ten mm bolts later
You take the adjuster out of headlight assembly
I have a 2010 Silverado 2500HD and the books call for the H11 replacement bulb but it has the h3. Why is this and how do I change it to the H11?
+Harry Clark We would suggest changing the bulb to the same design that was originally in your headlight.
@@1AAuto
I’m not sure what it is supposed to be. Any help would be great.
If you bought the truck pre-owned, the previous owner could have put the wrong bulbs in when changing them
ah i think some black spray paint over the top oughta do the trick just fine 😅
All this for a signal light grill is 250 bucks light case are 200 each 🙃

Why not just add a brand new wiring harness with the light Assembly

1st: disassemble your entire truck . . . 😅😅😅😅

Ahhh 10mm
Great video but what about other side.
How about the driver side?
+Nick 505 Thanks for watching! The process for the driver side should be the same as the passenger side.

this looks like some BS.
That is ridiculous compared to my 05
All this bs just to remove a headlight smh
YALL DONT NEEDA TAKE THE GRILLE OUT, LESS WORK
