Alex TIP here. I’m a local food truck driver (PFG) in Oklahoma/Arkansas. Whenever you drive those backroads or town roads that say 50 or 55 with a 35 mph curve or even 15mph curve then back to the 55mph, TAKE YOUR TIME. I do it everyday. Let the other drivers get mad. Be safe and do you! Keep up the content big dog.
@Alex the Trucking Guy you definitely could have made that turn. Sometimes you need to approach your turn by owning the lane on your left. I’m from Tx. I’ve been in those small towns. I’ll own the entire intersection to make my turn. Just go slow about it and if you lose sight of your tandems, then just get out. Don’t worry about what others think. 👍🙂 And always remember that someone else has already backed in to wherever you go, so let that take some stress off of you. Even at your destination GET OUT AND LOOK! As for your issue of streets your able to go down GET A TRUE TRUCK GPS!! Also, use google maps BEFORE you get into a mess. It’ll help familiarize yourself with your area to think through the situation.
You should get a drone and hover it over the truck when parking that way you have a 360 degree camera and it would be awesome to see the truck from bird’s eye view
Bro this is the coolest channel I've ever seen!! I'm also 23, I've been through ups and downs in life but seeing you and your channel is super inspiring to me!!! I work with your mom and that's how I found this channel. You are living my dream bro!!!! The sky really is the limit. I'll be tuning in for every video🔥
I’m working on 29 years of driving truck , and I’m addicted to watching you . Bro your to funny. But I see you’ve come a long way you’re definitely getting better at driving. Be safe have a good one .
@@RiverRatWA57 because legally anytime the truck is in anything but N your seatbelt should be on or you can get a ticket especially while still on public roads
@@RiverRatWA57 but he was still on a public road until he was backed into the dock. If it was all on private property then it is different unless required by the facility or the company you drive for. Either way nothing wrong with leaving the seat belt on while backing.
@@VDubPDX there is company policy then there is real life.......company policy stated no knifes or firearms in the truck 🤔that's yet another policy that I ignored.
It would be great if u added a drone over head for some of these tight back ups you have to do. Its hard to make out whats happening from your visor camera. I'm genuinely wanting to learn from what you're going thru. Thanks for the videos!
Just attempted to apply for GP Transco. I’m out of New York and was interested in OTR. Talked to a recruiter and they didn’t want me with no experience in the mountains out west and was told that we’re expected to chain. Just never had that kind of training here in NY and northeast regional. Hitting my 2 year mark in April
You're were in Fredericksburg, Texas... birthplace and home of Admiral Nimitz. He was the Commander in Chief of the US Pacific fleet during the second World War.
At that intersection..making the right..the trailer will follow the truck..so when you go straight into the intersection as far as you can before you turn also in small towns move the tandems up all the way
Hey Alex, you could have axel scaled at the shipper. Put steers on get weight. Move forward and put rears on. Do the math. Pull all the way on and get total & trailer tandem weight.
Alex, the struggle is real. I took a freightliner coach bus to Pittsburgh and there were so many side streets my poor bus could never fit. I couldn't imagine being a trucker, my anxiety would be at 100! You did great! Thanks as always for good content!
I don't see it as a mess up. No one got hurt, and nothing was damaged. So, you're good. FYI, In Texas, they have portable scales, they can weigh you on the side of the road. So keep that in mind for future reference.
Damn bro you messed up really bad.i hope you don't get fired for what you did. Sending positive vibes. stay safe out there. Hope it never happens again
Good job getting out of that tight spot. Some of the places they send us are crazy lol. I had to back up half a mile on a state route in Kansas because of a road closure, good thing it was 3am and there was zero traffic
Enjoy your P.O.S. Frightliner tomorrow I have to go inspect my new 2024 Kenworth Next Gen T680s. If all is right, they'll replace my current fleet Monday. I'll sideline my 2020 fleet until my new rookies start in a week. I'll have to teach them myself which puts us down a driver, but week two will see us nearly doubling drivers, going from 4 regular drivers to 7. I just had to pass up 3 hauling jobs to midwest for lack of drivers.
OK, so backing into a dock is not your strong suit YET, While you are still learning slide your tandems all the way forward in a tight dock, the trailer will respond much better and give you more swing on tight roads/docks/alleys.
I did a pickup in Mohawk in Calhoun, Georgia and they had a display showing your weight that you could see from the cab. I pulled on and weighed the steers, pulled the drives on and then did some math, pulled the tandems on and did some math and knew I was good. Shaw was even better--they had scale broken down by axle sets and it even printed a small scale ticket.
One of these days Alex will forget to cover his truck number in his videos and I won't have to look into the cab of every GP truck I pass like a dingaling.
Hey Alex, I think you were near Lolita, TX in the 2nd half of your video. I been to the same shipper and truck stop. You were so lucky it only took them 20 min to load you up. I had to waited for 2 hours haha
Yeah Watch the variable speed limits. They go from anywhere from 75 miles an hour to 30. And not necessarily in that order. I've been through texas to go to beaumont Coming from Dallas.that was a fun trip. And many times you get up to speed reduce speed and that because it turns. And yeah 75 miles an hour on those narrow roads. A little bit of white knuckling. And those Ditch on the side of the road don't look promising.
I have a dedicated route that takes me to Markle, IN which is roughly half an hour away from FT. Wayne, IN. I go into FT. Wayne sometimes but I prefer to stay clear of it lol. I'll be watching for your big blue truck on I65 if you come that way lol. I run that interstate everyday
Dang GP likes sending you to some crazy places. Btw, I think the place you turned around in was a mobile home park and you were in someone's driveway 🤣🤣🤣 I know gotta do what you gotta do. I had to do a 90 degree back into a school driveway to get out of a couldesac with 2 story houses once.
Drive up where your steers then drive up to your drives way again subtract your steers you'll get the drive weight drive all the way up get total weight subtract other total weight and you'll get your tandems
You are complaining about two lanes for a turn setimes i only have a single lane and my truck is 326 on the wheelbase and overall length is 95.5 end to end
Oh by the way look at the air gauge on your fifth wheel if it's above Close To Fifty or sixty, psi then you have more weight on your Steers. That could give you a bit of an indthat you may Be overweight It's not exact science but gives you an indicator Or a Guestament.
What happen to your arm did you get in a fight at the truck stop? How did you feel after unloading that truck very manly i bet you becoming a real truck..🚚

Hey Alex, you can most definitely make that turn you’re underestimating your skill brother
Just swing wide. It's a friggen trailer. Alex is way too careful to ever end up on Bonehead Truckers.
Keep up the great work bud there are issues we all go through and that’s just life nice job bro

Texas has the most semi trucks out of the whole US

Steer weight minus cab weight equals drive axle weight.

Pittsburgh pa those streets are super narrow and the by passes are super tough the drivers can’t drive especially been from here i do otr
Turn the 4 way flashers off
Slide your tandems all the way forward itll make your job a lot easier backing into spots like that

11:36 that is a great feeling.
You made this harder than what it was. This is by far one of the easiest street backs you will ever see.
You don't go to a delivery place to pick up. If you need 2 1/2 days to go 1200 miles, go work at subway.
A little advice start closing your doors on your trailer before you pull out if you can.

I just don't get why these small companies that do not have a semi dock (this was a box truck dock) order semi loads.
That pick up was near Port Lavaca, TX, that's where I'm from.
Alex, I saw the fact that you were on the company RUclips channel
Where is your low strap? Word. Or advice.. DOT pull you over. No load strap that's a ticket. Unsecure load. Try to strap all your loads.
Back in the 1980's I would do 1200 miles in 25 hours carting tomatoes to market.

Hey Alex, that noise is the engine fan. When your engine fan kicks in it'll sound like tht
Drive up where your steers then drive up to your drives way again subtract your steers you'll get the drive weight drive all the way up get total weight subtract other total weight and you'll get your tandems
