Knowing that area fairly well, it's HORRIBLE for any big car, let alone a truck :O
Mad respect to truck drivers who deliver freight to the area
Hi Alex I saw a even or same size truck stop like this on Rhode Island with car parks also
It was a fun experience though. Alot of people/cars but I can cross San francisco off my list of places to visit. I'd go there again. I want to visit the rest area I stopped at that was on a mountain and just sit up there and listen to some music again
@@ALEXTHETRUCKINGGUY what company pays the best for starting truck drivers with no experience
I drive a 48’ flatbed with a piggy back forklift locally in Sacramento, CA. All of us cringe when we have San Francisco deliveries hahaha it’s not the easiest town to drive in, that’s for sure. You did very well in my opinion. Especially for someone unfamiliar with the city
I live in Citrus Heights. LOL!
thats called moffett right? , Im tryin to get that but they keep saying 3 years exp...
@@samuelj2408 Yes it is called a Moffett. It’s a good job. I hope you can find a job that will train you on one.
@@cedwardgalli I'm in Ontario Canada close to Toronto. it pays 26-27 starting here but yeah they always want someone with exp ... lol
driving around is usually easy on the outskirts but through the actual city is another story lmso
Lmso instead of lmao does that mean laugh my shit out
Wow, all I could think was this delivery was too difficult for a beginner. You earned a load of respect, at least from me! Happy Trucking Alex.
San Francisco traffic not nice at all. Born n raised here. Great videos. 😎
I appreciate how detailed and organized you are
He's teetotal
It’s always entertaining to see your daily work life! I hope you’re doing well Alex
Hey Alex I love the fact that you go out and explore when you are in these rest areas it’s pretty cool 🫡 keep up the good work and keep them videos coming stay safe out there trucking 🫡
Years ago I worked in the South Of Market neighborhood near downtown SF. Seeing those streets was a blast from the past. I would occasionally see a big rig making it's way through the city. I always thought that must really be a challenge.
Wow!! That mountain view was awesome, but you earned it by driving in San Francisco, good job 👍
For a minute yo got me confuse cause there is a city here in the Bay area called Mountain View like 30 mins south if SF
I gotta go back there one day. I spent at least 2hrs just sitting there/walking around and listening to music. It's the perfect spot for deep thinking
@@ALEXTHETRUCKINGGUY when ever you come again to the Bay Area and if you like hiking try Mission Peak in Fremont
You drove that rig like a beast!!! in the SF Bay Area... Nice job!
I drove for Ace Hardware for 15 years out of Sacramento, a lot of time spent in San Francisco delivering to very small stores in the “city” you were not in the “city”… make sure where you are going and how you will get there before you leave. Don’t rely on your gps. It will get you in trouble real fast! Nice video thanks! The truck scale you went through was Cordelia truck scale the East bound side is even bigger than the west bound…. Have fun,see the world and stay safe!
16:31 looks like you’re getting a ticket
Someone went through a red light😅
Lmao was just going to comment this
Hello, Alex, I really enjoy listening to you traveling from State to State, I went to truck driver school, when I was in the military, and were informed that I could get my CDL in Florida, if I wanted too, I have no desire to be a truck driver. I was a law enforcement officer for 13 years, 12 hours shifts, and I worked 6pm-6am, plus a school bus driver for 10 years, doing them both at the same time, but I will continue to follow you online, because you're a few drivers that shows you driving from state to state. Just be safe out there, because so many people will take full advantage of you, if you're not careful and I will follow you as you travel.
You’re getting better with your backing up Alex! 👍🏻 You’ll get there. Practice, practice, practice.
3:46: You are turning from the wrong lane. When there are dual turn lanes, a truck should ALWAYS be in the outer lane from the apex. You can actually get a ticket if you don't.
The guy is clueless, still making the same mistakes to this day. He’s cooked
Enjoying your video's Alex. Greetings from South Africa.
I just started watching your videos -- I live in the SF Bay Area and it's pretty cool to see you on streets I drive by often! Mad respect for getting down to the city streets, but I'm not sure I agree with you about this city having good drivers!
Loooove these adventures you’ve been taking us on. Keep it up!
Alex, my cousin always carried his Mountain Bike behind the sleeper. When he was on his down time he could go for a ride and explore new areas. Had a holder made with a lock worked great.
txs F
Alex nice job you’re on top with it
Keep on hiking when you have time
Enjoying your videos Alex, My 1st yr driving OTR in 1976 i had load of office paper from back east to downtown S. Fran 30 story highrise, parked on street and they unloaded me on street w rental forklift and pallet jack, the good old days 42 ft van, no cell phones no GPS no Garmins. We have a lot of mtn. lions here in Calif. so watch your back hiking.
As a SF native, it's a nightmare driving downtown in a 4 wheeler. Can't imagine a 53 footer with a sleeper.
Screw that never give your keys up . Disconnect the air lines but NOOO keys . And Never leave your truck
Merry Christmas to you!!! You are definitely a great trucker!!
🎄🎁
I used to drive for a carrier out of Stockton doing dedicated runs from CA to TX, FL, and Goergia and back. Alot of our back hauls went to the San Francisco Oakland Hayward area. I hated it everytime. That Flyers you went to never has parking and when you manage to actually find any your door gets banged on all night by lot lizard. I know all the ins and outs for finding parking out that way lol.
Don't make it a habit of turning Left on RED.
Don’t put the wheel chocks right against your tyre because when the weight comes off the trailer it actually moves it forward slightly and will jam the chock there and then you have to back up to get it out, just a tip.
yup. I was gonna mention that too. Something I learned the hard way LOL.
Waiting for Alex to come to India.. he’ll have a whole new appreciation for the roads in the US for trucks😅
Alex is the best RUclips ever at this point man, every video post, I watch it.
Stop being so tense & just relax while driving trucks trust me you’re less likely to make a mistake when you’re relaxed especially in those big cities. I had to drive in Newark,NJ in my 18 wheeler that was stressful.
Alex this is RIGHT where I work off Forbes Ave. I’m so sorry!!!! You’re right, this area is not conducive to truck stops!!!
👍👍👍 Drive safely Alex. God bless you. 🙏
I got stuck in SF traffic trying to get on the freeway when people got off work. 2 hrs to move 1.5 miles to get on the freeway. Shit was the worst.
I am so glad I don't do the west coast, especially California. I do all of the east coast on my dedicated route and am parked due to snow atm but I'd still rather deal with snow than west coast lol
I drove otr for two years, I do not miss all the unpredictability.
Make sure you take your truck down Lombard st. In San Francisco.
That looks like a stressful day, OMG. Good for you to find some good! Best wishes!
The random roads in the hills are most likely fire roads. In case of brush fire, the roads allow fire equipment access.
And also access roads for PG and E electric utilty company.
Confusing left turn when you exited the small truck stop or store whatever it was. It appeared as you made the left turn that there was a red left turn arrow on the left and a green light signal to go straight across.
Lol thought I was the only one who noticed
Nothing confusing. He made an illegal (and dangerous) left turn on a red arrow. In that situation you can only turn left when the arrow is green.
I enjoyed the video Alex. Stay safe out there And thank you for sharing
You should start dubbing for movies
“Oh my goshhhhhhhh” love it buddy.
I drove trucks for 5 years and I’ve learned you never wanna turn right on red in a 18 wheeler
You need to have some merch w/the logo "oh my gosh"
I was in SF and had to get on the I80 I was by the baseball stadium. I had to make a right turn on Bryant between 3rd st and 2nd st. I was in that one block for over an hour. I’m from south central LA so my driving instinct came on and blocked everyone for being a dicks to me. They didn’t want that smoke.
Welcome to California I was born and raised here love it but I hate to say there are a lot of cars and a lot of crazy driver out there but hope you liked it out here even if you were here for a short time
Whatever you do avoid Lombard! You heard it here folks....Cali people know how to drive!
You were in south SF my brother; that's where the freight is handled. The actual city of SF is not drivable for a big rig like yours. Can barely navigate that with a small car. for Lived in the Bay Area for 20 years. Loved it. Really enjoying your vids!
I drive for Safeway and we take 53 foot trailers into the city every day.
Ya finding a truck stop around SF is a joke. I usually stay in Dunnigan which is about 130 miles away near I5 and 505. There's a decent Pilot there with alot of parking
That San Francisco delivery location was made for trucks without a bed in the back. It's called a "day cab" . Lol
I had to drive a gift car out of San Francisco once back to Arizona.....scariest time ever driving out of that city!!!! I drove for LAX big buses and Vans and that never bothered me. But SF? Is nuts!!!
Dude, you are killing it!
You need a t-shirt that says
OH MY FREAKIN’ GOSH!
You should've stayed in the pedestrian car parking since the pedestrian cars were parking in the tractor-trailer parking
That bridge onmin2:43 is San Mateo bridge i live here in the Bay Area
I would have stayed at that 7-11 truck stop bro 😎 it’s ok Alex we all make mistakes thanks for all you do brother! I pray for your safety!!!! 😊
that's what I was thinking.... Why move ? You're parked now-aren't you. LOL.
Not worth paying $25 to park there lol
"HELP" 😂 👍🏼 here's my lifeline 🎣
Great video! What a divine and amazing hike at the end! New subscriber here :)
OMG, Downtown San Francisco in a Semi-truck! You must had a few stares in disbelief. Wow, you got out and found a place to unwind, good job.
You’re not gonna do the Rocky jump at the top of the mountain ?😂
Everytime I see a truck like yours I always look over to see if it's you 😊
Me as well…I always say is that him…lol
@@sweetagave2638 lol
The government should embark on a nationwide program to enlarge businesses that receive regular semi shipments, and create more room. Build a rest area for trucks too there
Enjoy watching your videos be safe,
This is my fear if I have to drive in NYC
Yes! I would NOT!
Yep lol that's why ya see so many box trucks down there it's not made for big trucks I'll never never go back
Watch out for the thugs LOL.
Just remember, Alex. You're the one in the semi, just keep driving if they stop you. 👍
Yea long time ago before Google I crossed the bridge because I couldn't get over for my exit. Asked toll collector about a u turn he said nope. So I chanced a off up over under back on. Nope. Had to go thru residential area over curbs but no cars! Found my way back holding my breath
🤣🤣🤣 he puts the spare key INSIDE the trailer BEFORE he goes on the door
They want the truck keys so you don't go driving away while they're loading or unloading. That being said, you like all of us have multiple keys, as you showed when you backed tight to the dock with the key in the trailer.
Lol I was surprised they didn’t come out to talk to him!
I didn’t get that either… How would you even back up to the door after placing your keys in the trailer…
I got lost in San Francisco one time. I ended up at Arrowhead stadium. I was lucky to get out of there that day.
Arrowhead is in Kansas City
Yeah my bad I meant to say candlestick park. Anyways I ended up to the stadium
I wouldn't suggest anyone travel in California, San Francisco being one of the worst areas. People are down right rude and terrible drivers. Traffic is a huge issue as well as homelessness and crime!
i drove a 10 car hauler in downtown many times. HATE IT. one time i almost got hit by a trolley. these dealers think i drive a one car trailer
Literally the city with no parking and space is gold😅
I work is San Francisco too but I’m in the Subset District right by the beach(:
Hey Alex have you thought about using an iPad mini for navigation screen instead of phone ? A lot of independent pilots use iPad minis
That must get lonely going all over the place by yourself. These vlogs probably help a lot .
I'm sure it does. I'm a truck driver for the post office (box truck) I have a route and get to return to the plant every night, but I sleep in my truck because I live so far away. The hours are 5:30am to 7pm with a 4 hour layover. Its very lonely even for me, and his job is way more isolated.
@@jesseperrella lol usps is my employer
@@hightops77 Thats funny haha. I work for a 3rd party contractor that brings the mail to and from the plant to post offices around central Florida. Its a pretty cool job, and they are paying for my CDL schooling soon. I already got my permit, so soon ill be able to drive an 18 wheeler.
Believe me it does
Damn…yur right! Thats a “dog poo” bad day. 180 miles and heavy traffic 😮
The heavy breathing tells us all how long you have been in that truck but that view is amazing
Avoid the bay area as much as possible it is not trucker friendly.
no Cali, no New York, no Chicago, no New Jersy
Welcome to MY CITY... I LOVE SAN FRAN
Me too.
Bayview
Grew up in Sacramento, went to college 50 miles north of San Francisco, and later lived in the San Francisco Bay area,, so very familiar with San Francisco. Yup, lots of traffic. Now live in the Texas boonies.
At 2:10 he says he is now in San Francisco. But the road sign says Oakland Airport next 2 exits. 2 different cities Alex. And the bridge he crosses is the San Mateo Bridge. Not the Bay Bridge.
SF my friend doesn't matter a what time you get there is always traffic ALWAYS, even if you plan your route traffic is going to trough all you plan like nothing jajajajaja I use to drive sf too as a otr driver
Love ya videos my guys your inspirational I appreciate the videos
You made the one year exercise in one climb😂😂
San Francisco and Chicago is difficult for large cars.
So they require placing your keys in the trailer so you don’t pull away… Did they expect you to then push the truck up against the dock ?
The San Francisco treat!
I think I saw you drive through Hayward/ Castro valley !
14:55 I've seen one driver ask to park for the night at some stores unused dock. She got permission from the store tho. Seems like too much trouble to ask a store if i were a driver
Forget the parking. If the receiver wants the tractor out of the way they can request shorter trailers.
U went the wrong way . Theres another spot Wendy's and starbucks around the corner
You have to go to the Valley of California if you want to find a truck stop by sf
Non-trucker here…. What was the purpose of leaving the key? Is that to the rig or part of the trailer? If the rig, why would they need to access it?
Looks like he ran the red light at 16:34 lol
Hey the Cordelia scales! I have to go through those every day. Bay Area traffic is pretty horrible though.
Long haul drivers are something else compare to city class A driver. When i was going to trucking school to get my CDL class A. The school told us, no local company would hired somebody is fresh out of school. Thats a freaking lie. They had long haul company trying to recruit us out of school.
Did you blink your marker lights to thank the pick up truck for letting you in?
My man was breathing hard 24:50
its so funny watching him be in all the areas i grew up in, I know exactly which mountain he is on, have drove past my whole life and always stared at it wondering if people drive dirtbikes on it
