I loved this video. As a freight broker just starting to do port work, I really appreciated being able to see what you all do and what it all looks like. Felt like I was on a ride along! So so helpful. Thanks for your content!
Thank you for taking the time to watch the video.
You have no idea how helpful your videos are to me. Thank you!!
Thank you for watching my videos. I have more coming soon.
This is super helpful. I’m starting with a company moving containers from Port of Oakland and Long Beach to Fresno. I’m just got my CDL last month.
Thanks for watching. Welcome to the channel congratulations on get your CDL
What kind of truck you got? And how much is insurance?
@@COWBOYTUBECT I have a 2014 international prostar. My insurance is under is around $1100.
How do get loads from port of Oakland? I just bought my Semi truck as well.
Long Beach Port looks like a logistical nightmare. I'm considering a company driver position Phoenix to Long Beach Port and back to Phoenix. Looks like the docks can really slow you down.
Once you get the hang of it it’s not so bad. It was scary for me when I first went to the ports.
Thank you for going through the process… will be starting down at the port next week….owner op…… seems like you could get lost down at the port
No problem boss. Working the ports has its good days and bad days. Email me if you have any questions or need help at the ports.
Shoot me a email I’ll try to help you out

I'm waiting on my twic card, it's been almost two months, your videos are very insightful thanks for sharing bro.
Thank you for watching my vids. The Twic cards take a while you can still enter the ports with your receipt 🧾
@@lifewithryda wow I didn’t know that, I actually lost out on a job because it took so long, it’s cool though I’m starting with mclane next to get experience and I’ll get to the port later.
I love this job because that’s my life
💪🏾

Starting at the port soon as a company driver. Port looks crazy kinda intimidated
It’s hard at first but you will get use to it. Email me if you need help at the ports or need advice hit me up.
You should make a guidance video first day at the post step by step what to do I’m Sure fist timers would appreciate it such as my self 👍 keep the hard work going bro much love God Bless
I need help bc how do you find the sections ? On like where to go ?
@@HelpMe-kj2kh when u get in just fallow the pillars in the yard.. they have letters or numbers of the row. Then u just go to your row number listed on the ground. All yards are numbered a little different but it’s the same concept. Ask one of the guys in the white trucks in there or ask security if u need help. They could be kinda rude sometimes but just be patient with them.
Good luck with everything
hunjin was the first port i went to I fucked up right when I got to the speaker BC i pressed the button and took off when it printed the ticket did not realize i had to get another 2 tickets
I messed up a lot of times when I first started don’t feel bad. It took me like a few months to get the hang of it. A lot of the ports are confusing at times. I still make mistakes at the ports lol.
The first one I went to was APL, there wasn't a line and I had no idea what to do... I drove straight to the trouble parking and was told to go back around and go to the speakers. There's no training at the ports, it's all trial and error. Once you get the hang of it, though, it's the easiest job in the world. Don't know if I could go back to any other kind of trucking.
@ianh1984 ports or the best I love it
Is their a app to find these job. Or where do we go? Loving the content. New subscriber
DAT is a app to find loads for truckers
Thanks for the ride brother.
No problem fam
cool tour around
Thank you
Why are some containers allowed to handle 120,000 lbs if the reach stackers can only do 90,000 lbs safely?
I’m not really sure
Hey ryda do u miss the ports or is the company your with now looking like it’s gonna workout a little better for the time.
Aaron 👍
I miss the ports with a passion lol but for the time being where I’m at now is perfect
After deducting fuel for the 300 plus miles and the per mile rental rate for the 300 plus miles isn't that close to a $500 deduction from the $1000?
So basically what Im spending around 200 on fuel for one round trip I deduct dad from which each round trip pays. I have a monthly payment on my rig so I don’t really count that until that end of the month. Miles each round trip is like 150.
I'm a truck driver for 23 years going on 24 years I own my big rig and trailer
Congratulations
It's good to see how yall doin it over there,I'm in Savannah,Ga.I pretty do the same thing.I do warehouse work and pull loads out for regional drivers.I got videos on my page.
Hey how’s it going are y’all busy over there
@@lifewithryda it ain't bad driva,I'm eatin pretty good.Im doin $3500-$5000 a week,and home every night.
@@kristisdale389 that’s easy money the ports slowed down out here it’s supposed to pick up next month for the holidays
@@lifewithryda it be up and down over here too,but we keep sumthn to do.We got like 30 ships out in the ocean right now.Its bout the same tho bro, except for how they do yall with all that California shit.
@@kristisdale389 it was wild last year we had like 120 ships 🛳 it was hectic I can’t wait until things get back to normal
Very interesting for a midwesterner here.

What's up Ryda, this dock looks just like the railyard here in Atlanta. Its got some honeys working there too. I heard stories about that longbeach dock pay..play your cards right with the lady and you wont have to drive anymore.😄 Hows the backup with the ships out there? Everything good or is it still jacked up?
😂 I came use a suga momma it’s getting better now. Work is picking up.
how did you learn the in's & out's of the ports..........Cheers!
Hey how it going I thought myself about the ports. I started driving the ports about 10 years ago. So I leaned at work.
Tti looks like a ghost town now
The ports are scary now
Ryda, why would California have the lowest dockyard productivity rates in the world?
lol because Cali is going down the drain.
🤭
Do you do training lol. I’m about to start my own company doing port runs. Still a little confused on how to do this but your videos answer a lot of my questions
I would be willing to train drivers at the ports. I was thinking about doing thatS
@@lifewithryda well if you do let me know please. By your loads I’m guessing I live around you. I’m out here in the Beaumont banning area. Thanks for the great videos
@@robertrice4787 no problem yes I will start training for the ports. The only thing is I think you need a permit to enter the ports with two drivers to train. But I’m down to train
@@lifewithryda your my hero for sure. And what kind of permit is need. And how much would you charge ? Thank you so much.
@@robertrice4787 Thanks fam. You need your LLC Dot # Ca# mcp# to form your own authority in Cali. that’s for intrastate
Do you live close to the ports or are you dead heading and if so how far would you recommend to dead head ?
Also if you don't live close to the ports, do they have Empty Pickups at Dollar Trees, Dollar Generals, etc. that maybe close to home that you can pick up to take to the ports ?
I live in Fontana I deadhead if there are no empties. If they have empties I take them. But a lot of ports aren’t accepting empties because they have no room.
Yes the have deliveries to dollar tree in San Bernardino. I usually pick up empties from there.
The vealls that have the cuteaners and the pot people's unloading them

Hey what’s up I’m using the dray alliance load board
I'm going to have to find a comparable load board out here in the Northeast. Appreciate you for sharing your experiences.

@@autophillfreight2129 look on Craigslist
I see you are using an app to book loads. I have all my permits to go into the ports but how what app do you use to get loads?
Drayallaince they have their own app.
Is dray alliance only long beach ports or sam francisco too?
So with that app you're using, who is making the appointments at the terminals for you?
The appointment are already made before you book them. So you just pick the appointment times works for you. Dispatch usually makes the appointments.
long beach to san bernadino...1 hour bull shit here
1hr 15min 😂
I can do it this job ❤

Hey how’s it going the company I pull for is out of Southern California. I don’t believe they have work for your area. If your looking for port work check Craigslist it’s a good resource.
Life Ryda, question do you need a Twic card to access long beach port?
Yes you need a Twic card
