In this video, I will attempt to show you how to program your 2011-14 Chevrolet Tahoe with the Dorman 99156 Key Fob Programming Kit I ordered from rockauto.com.
I've had this remote for approximately 3 months, the print on the buttons has faded off a little bit but not too much. However, I did expect this, despite the fact that it is not original GM quality. but it doesn't bother me because it serves its purpose. The case is durable. This I know because I had dropped in numerous amount of times and has seemed to withstand landing on concrete, asphalt, and dirt. My personal overall rating would have to be 4/5.
Although I mention the site very many times, from which I ordered the kit, I do not represent them in any way, shape or form. I just have a lot of confidence and a great shopping experience with the company.
I am new to the video editing and uploading industry so forgive me for my lack of knowledge. I'm slowly learning, despite this being my first video, I really enjoyed getting to do this. I hope you enjoy!

@@jonathonflores4937 What year is your Tahoe? My Tahoe is 2012 but I don't know if it has the start function on the remote control.
@@bgirldv mine is a 2012 Tahoe LTZ. Mine came with remote start out of factory. Some Tahoes didn’t come out of factory with it and some did. Even some came out with the remote start functionality, but didn’t have the remote for it. The best way to tell is take the VIN to a dealership and ask them if you have the feature. If you do, all you need is the kit from my video.

Thank GOD for this video Johnathon thank you for posting this. I order the same programmer for my 2011 Ltz Tahoe. I followed the instructions and was able to program 2 aftermarket key fobs off of Ebay plus the one included in a matter of seconds. Its so easy and this saved me so much money from the dealership.i give the programmer 10⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Question. Do you have to leave the programmer in the OBD port or can you take it out after programming? Like does it need to stay plugged at all times for it to work? Thanks.
Also is it one time use only or can I buy another key off Amazon and program it with this.
You remove it once it is programmed.
Did your other stock remote have the remote start?
Wanna add remote start to my suburban but it doesn’t have the remote start option on the stock remote. Wondering if this will work for me. Thanks
If your vehicle didn’t come out of factory with remote start, it will not work.
Your truck might come installed with remote start feature but not the controller. Check your glove box ap8 and if you do you can do the same thing here in the video. Buy the dorman and program it.

Will this work on a 2012 PPV ? I’m looking to have the remote start I already have a key control but I don’t have remote start
I really can't answer this because I never tried it on the PPV.
If u get more key fobs later will you be able to reuse the same programmer
Tonya Ballard I believe the description on the back of the package said that you can do it about 3 times. I’m assuming they do this because you can easily go around and program numerous vehicles and return profit.

Main Tain I believe so. I think in 2011 is when they took out the key programming feature out of the Tahoe. So this kit should be a perfect alternative vs the expensive dealership and locksmith fees.
Did you have the original fob beforehand? I read the instructions and it says it’s not for “lost remote” situations. That you have to have a remote that’s already working in order to program new ones with the kit.
I used the FOB it came with. I bought Tahoe used and it didn’t come with key FOB. I did program another original GM FOB as an extra and it worked with same obd2 programmer.

Buen día yo quiero programarlo pero no me deja avanzar para el nuevo control le aprieto a la palomita pero me sigue dejando dónde mismo no me pasa al siguiente paso a alguien le ha pasado y que solución encontraron. Cabe mencionar que el control dejo de funcionar de un dia para otro ya se checo pila y señal y funciona perfectamente el control. Me.comentaron que checara fusibles pero la verdad ya cheque el.manual y no me aparece algo relacionado a ello si pudieran hechame la mano se los.agardeceria. mi troca es una yukon 2012
You have to push both buttons together until the Tahoe recognizes and it will cycle lock/unlock. This is done when the programmer has initiated the programming process of course.
How do you take the programmer out of the Tahoe ?
And also everything is programmed Except for my starter
I’m not exactly sure how to remove the program but if your vehicle is not equipped with remote start, the key fob starter button will not work. Now if you have, remote start and it’s not working, I think the relay or fuse may be out.
So the kit comes with the Fob as well right?
Yes, OBD2 module and key fob.

Just letting you know you can relearn the fobs from the menu… I just did it on my 12 PPV got the vehicle with one working fob. Relearned both fobs at the same time. Takes 15 seconds

My 2012 Tahoe doesn’t have the reprogram menu option.
