- On this planet there are plenty of animals with impressive camouflage. Camouflage can be used both for defence and attack as it can help animals blend in with their environment to avoid predators but it can also help predators sneak up on their prey. Most animals display impressive camouflage but some animals take it to the next level. Animal mimicry is when an animal has evolved to resemble an object or other species. Mimicry can also be use both for defence and attack and I will be going through just a few of the best animal mimics in this video as I will be going through 5 impressive animal mimics.

In this animal mimic video I will be covering the orchid mantis, the snake mimic caterpillar, the fork tailed drongo, the mimic octopus, and the alligator snapping turtle.
Thanks for watching i hope you enjoyed :)
As it has been mentioned in the comments before, Salticid spiders mimicking various species of ants would be an excellent candidate for this series. I've always been fascinated by them. Although it's worth mentioning that jumping spiders aren't the only family of spiders that mimick ants. Also, the stick insect you've shown in the video, _Extatosoma tiaratum_ has several different ways of mimickry. A seed as an egg, an ant as a nymph and variable colours in the further stages of their lives depending on the environment they live in. The lichen variation is particularly interesting. They might also fit well in following videos of this series.
They’re very cool! Ive found multiple, one was very accurate
The alligator snapping turtle is moving northward due to globalclimate change, plus they are now crossbreeding with the common snapping turtle.
I’ve always been impressed by the Cuttlefish and Mimic Octopus, they’re practically a Chameleon that you’d see on TV.
Think you could do a video on some interesting native animals from Australia?
Very cool idea. I have to say, having run across plenty of Alligator Snapping Turtles in the wild, that keeping one for a pet would be a very bad idea.
And why is that?
You seen how hostile it is
For the average Joe yeah. The youtubers called Snake Discovery have one, as well as an actual gator named Rex. They tell people all the time not to try and raise them themselves though, as they're very difficult to handle
Now I want a pet Mimic Octopus :)
Yay another amazing video from tsuki
"Mantis are known for being stealthy" i found a mantis just chillin on the curb when i walked out of a gas station one time. Put that dude on my finger and took him on an adventure
Damn that snake/caterpillar is beautiful
I have a few suggestions! The mimic saddle filefish, it's a filefish that mimics the patterns and behavior of saddle toby puffer (Canthigaster valentini), it is a small toby puffer which is poisonous. The mimic would swim in small groups of saddle puffer so to avoid predators
I like the Lyre bird. They can mimic so many different sounds. Even a car alarm.
Your videos have tons of high value remember me when you get to 1 million subs
Want more of these mimicry videos!
awesome video very informational
there is also animals that makes sounds like other animals, and some does it to lure other animals in, keep others away or well just because they hear them a lot.
as an example i once had a parraket that could sound like the dog i had and even say my name.
there are also a moth that makes the sounds of a bat that hunts moths to make so that it does not get eaten.
👍Fascinating, & two out of the five were completely new to me. Glad Arnie is doing well.
3:37 the mantis side eye is the best
Hello tsuki as always I love these videos they are always fascinating to watch
Another one is the false cleanerfish(Aspidontus taeniatus), it is a fang blenny that also mimics the behavior and appearance of cleaner wrasse (Labroides dimidiatus), instead of cleaning their clients, they take a bite of scales and flesh.
Basically these Animals are like Voltorb to trick people into thinking it's a PokeBall but isn't it's in disguise.
YES! What better thing to come to after work than a Tsuki video
Hey all I HOPE EVERYONE IS DOING WELL AND OF COURSE ARNIE GET TO SEE HIM!! I got to say as usual excellent wonderful video very educational and entertaining 👍😃
You know a lot about animals .❤
Yay new video
The alligator snappers I have seen around me have algae and plants on it’s back
This was even better then I anticipated and I didn't think that could be possible 🤩 awesome video!!!! Thank you!!!
No problem i'm glad you liked it :)
ey new drop lets go!!
good job tsuki
Amazing! 😲
I’m not sure if I would call it mimicry but the wobbegong shark has an interesting way of catching prey that might make for a good video if you haven’t done one already about it
part two suggestion. hastatus cory that mimics kriegi tetra, jumping spider that mimics ants and hornet moths
5 Invasive Animals that Originate from Australia/Islands. I thought it might be interesting to see the reverse of what normally happens.
Please make a invasive species in California please.
Im sure i will do at some point :)
I love the fork tailed drongo. I’m a bird lover 😅❤
Sorry for the gibberish.. my son meant to say that if you make a second video, you could include the Victorian butterfly which looks like the poisonous monarch butterfly and that’s why predators don’t bother it. Back to him now…
make a video where plants mimic animals, i find that so facinating.
i have seen them mimic monkey heads and birds.
Do more biotope videos.
Can you make a video about African fish species an all other countries please
Hellofrom wales arnie
Don’t forget THIS animal mimic: an EX boyfriend mimicking a SNAKE!!! Ohh….. wait… he IS A SNAKE mimicking a nice person!!! (Glad I dodged THAT bullet!!!)🙂🙂
Both common and Alligator snapping turtles are invasive in my state
Yo what about the lyre bird?
These kind of thing that animals do is very interesting , 🤔 make me think if some of those ghost and strange flying things we see from time to time may be doing just that ? 🤔Seem they quite often move only one way ? Has if a need to a may show why at times a vacuum may happen ?, has two defent states are being tranverce's
.
That moment when your pet toroise runs away xD
You should have me include the victorin. But fly it look like posnes mocher but fly
❤
I love your video ❤
Hope I'm not too late for you to see this. You should check out david attenborough's clip on the lyre bird:
ruclips.net/video/mSB71jNq-yQ/видео.html
it has some incredible sound mimicry, really amazing, it does man made sounds like camera shutters and chainsaws that are eerily accurate.
Also I think your weight on the snapping turtle is wrong, it's 180 pounds not kgs haha
Hi
hiio
day 1 of asking for your intro: what is your intro
Pet arnold or else
0:29 name?
Jungle nymph stick insect I think
Not _Heteropteryx dilatata_ (Malayan jungle nymph). It's _Extatosoma tiaratum_ , commonly known as giant Australian prickly stick insect.
@@ahmetkerem4769 thanks
No problem.
Thx for clarifying. Wasn't too sure about the exact type:)
first
nice one :)
