My parents were fairly well traveled and they both used to contend, there was nothing like that flight. For several years they were blessed to experience this amazing art, and for me, it is sad I will never be able to fly Concorde. Wow.... still so special!!!
The speed at which it gets up to take off speed is obviously faster than a regular jet. You can almost see the speed surges happening every few seconds. What a fascinating piece of machinery!
I had the privilege of going aboard one of the prototypes (002) a few years ago. Even had the chance to talk with some of the designers - what a day that was. One of the rare occasions where the French actually co-operated with us to come up with the most impressive aircraft ever built. The engineering was amazing and I was quite surprised at how small the aircraft was inside.
As a girl it was my dream when I grow up once in my life to fly with the majestic and beautiful Concorde. Unfortunately it was to late. At least I had the chance to visit and get inside the Concorde at the Technology Museum Sinsheim. I was fascinated , overwhelmed and sad at the same time. What a feeling.
Had one fly over our old house once when it was in service, it wasn’t particularly high either and it made the entire house shake! Now it was still high enough, we aren’t talking tree top skimming here! Awesome power... I’ll never forget that. Shame it was scrapped.
What a fantastic sight. I was working as a subcontractor at Casablanca airport in October 1974, what a privilege to see it take off many times in the three weeks I was there. The BAC people worked very hard, 7 full days a week, they were all doing their bit for the project, they were great bunch to work with. Happy days.
The most beautiful airplane ever build, history here will not repeat itself, it is sad that we don't see this legendary bird fly again, I love it since I was a kid and now I'm 48 years old and i still search about its videos to watch it fly hearing the sound of its engines, real enjoyment for me.
That was such a beautiful aircraft but oh boy so LOUD, There was a time I occasionally attended court in Reading to support the clients of the charity I worked for. Reading was on the direct flight path from Heathrow to the Atlantic. The clerk would say to us, "At around 11 o'clock Concorde goes over. You will not be able to make yourself heard for the noise so don't even try!" It was true. Where I live is very close to Farnborough, the home of the famous air show. We were in the garden one day when there was this huge roar and one of the Concorde prototypes zoomed over from the east before curving round to go back the the airfield. It was really low and just amazing. Not going very fast, not aiming for supersonic speeds it what can only have been a flight of a few minutes. Magical.
I missed seeing that magnificent aircraft when I was living in Brooklyn New York I was literally 10 minutes away from JFK International Airport God bless all those who put together that incredible aircraft
The Concord was an epic aeroplane, otwithstanding the environmental impacts of such high performance technology. I was about 10years old, when Dad took the family to Kingsford Smith Airport,to watch the arrival of the first Concord to come to Australia. Very, very loud, along with tremendous dark plumes of exhaust on the take-off. Such was life in the early 1970's,blissfully ignorant of the damage to the environment air travel is. Thanks for the upload, a slice of nostalgia 👍😊
WOW! When my brother and I were young kids, we were mesmerized by this plane. Fantastic piece of human engineering, particularly for the time, sorely missed.
I flew on Concorde on 20th September 1997 with my dear partner from Heathrow. It was a supersonic champagne flight over Atlantic and back to Heathrow. No words can describe the fantastic feeling of that magical flight especially being able to see a BLACK sky over you almost on the edge of the universe and a slight curvature of the earth. Overwhelming. I'll never forget those that experience and no ordinary flight can come close to that feeling. Our Concorde is now resting in Bristol. We have visited it once and wished to repeat those extraordinary moments. We have seen Concorde departure a few times on air shows and a final one from Heathrow on 17th October 2003. I did cry. I will never hear that unique roar and won't see a beautiful shape of that masterpiece fly again. Fantastic era ended. I'm lucky that I was part of it. 😢
when Concorde was still in service and I had to go to Reading for business, I always ensured I was there around 11am for when it passed over. The crackle from those 4 Olympus engines was wonderful to hear.
I remember it flying over us one day whilst my family were out shopping in Manchester. It must have been at cruising height but you could make out the shape and the different sound. Everybody just stopped in awe at it, and the speed it moved in the sky compared to the usual airliners was so impressive
I live under the 27 approach to Heathrow, sometimes aircraft fly directly overhead at around 4000'. Concorde always stopped me in my tracks, absolutely majestic aircraft, beautiful and much missed.
Concorde was Queen of the Skies. A beautiful bird and even seeing her take-off on this video has stirred the emotions. Everyone loved her, even those who never got to fly in her.
I remember when concorde would fly over our house when young, literally made the house shake, you wouldn't be able to hear the TV clearly...was crazy to watch fly over, you could feel its power miles away.
I worked right next to the runway from where Concorde took off to New York every morning at 11 am . An awe inspiring sight and sound and the ground shook whilst the world stopped and watched. Unbelievable.
Stunning. What is really noticeable is the acceleration and time to rotate is truly unbelievable, the power to weight ratio must be far higher than normal aircraft. Absolutely unbelievable sight, would have loved to have seen it take off like that, only ever saw it go over especially on Grand National day it always flew over Aintree in Liverpool. Such a shame, should have never been retired. 😢
When I watched this, it reminded me of just how magnificent the Concorde was, and seeing her lift off the ground made me teary. A beautiful machine. Tu me manques, Mme. Concorde.
Seeing this video I can't help wondering at the skill of pilots avoiding a tail strike as they rotated to lift-off. The rear overhang was enormous. That's awesome.
She has beautiful graceful lines. I smiled just watching her slowly rising and moving to take off. What a testimony to human creativity; we can fly…like the birds.
Many a time sw it taking off out of London Heathrow in the 1970s. Then in and out of bahrain International Airport 1977 to 1979. Saw the last one out of bahrain in 1979.. even got a trip down a taxiway to watch it take off at night on full afterburner so loud so amazing..graceful plane it was
early to mid 1990`s was stuck in a traffic jam on the m25 (what else are you going to do on the m25) with heathrow to my right. all of a sudden heard this loud rumbling and my car just started to shake as concord took off and literally flew over the top of my car.never heard anything so loud in my life but it was a beautiful site.
I saw her flying in Barbados in 1996. So loud and beautiful. Sadly missed. Fuel efficient engines and safety upgrades and we could have a charger plane still flying today.... we definitely need a successor
I grew up at a distance with the bird of beauty. When i was a schoolboy living in Cornwall, I use to hear the booms as she went super sonic heading to the USA and Later on when i was in the RAF based near London, we use to pause our volleyball game to watch her coming into land at Heathrow a few miles away. Even at a distance we could tell it was her. And later while visiting The Tower of London for the day off in the distance i got to see all 3 Concode's coming into land for the last time.
So, I grew up in Caracas and years ago my parents had some friends who live right next door to the international airport in Maiquetia. Next to the fence across the runway. We once went to visit them and I kept hearing all these airplanes flying to land at the airport so I asked for permission to climb the stairs to the house's roof to see this happening. A few minutes after I got there I hear this roar coming from out of nowhere and this little dot in the sky became bigger by the second when I realized it was the Concorde, it flew so close over me I thought I could touch it! An absolutely magical experience.
Most iconic man made object ever. Nothing else made in reasonable numbers is ever referred to in the singular. Just think, you drive A Bugatti 41 whereas you fly in Concorde!
Gone, but not forgotten. Simply the most beautiful commercial aircraft ever invented. Considering this was created over fifty years ago, we are actually going backwards technologically.
The same could be said about space exploration. Man went to the Moon over fifty years ago and we still haven't returned. The Space Shuttle is gone and we're relegated to mere rockets. Backwards it is then.
Not how that works particularly. We absolutely could build supersonic airlines again, there just isn’t much point. They aren’t the most commercially viable of aircraft. Airlines are made for fuel efficiency, which is a good idea generally speaking. The Concorde for example was very inefficient below its optimum speed, and due to many countries having a ban on overland supersonic flight, you can see the issues. Also generally speaking regular airliners flying at “only” Mach 0.8-0.9, are cheaper to fly on, operate and are generally more comfortable, and likely more environmental as well. The Concorde was brilliant though, very nice looking aeroplane.
I had one fly over my head driving past JFK in the late 90's. It was landing and it was so loud it shook the ground. So impressive. I'll never forget it.
The most magnificent machine ever built. French style shoved to the edge of space by British Rolls-Royce at the speed of a jet fighter... Exceptional Achievement.
Absolutely marvellous! I remember driving along the road in Filton and the stop lights started flashing, then all of a sudden the car started jumping around it was Concord just on my right side on full afterburners bloody fantastic 🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧
Remember seeing it landing and taking off here in Miami , it was such a wonderful aircraft, ahead of His Time. It was like a slow motion Bird taking off. My cousin work in the cleaning crew of those planes , said it was like a spaceship, just a Gem . ✈️✈️🇬🇧🇫🇷💯
This plane gave me goosebumps every time I saw it. It used to fly over the pub where I worked each year on Grand National day. Second only in beauty and magnificence to the Vulcan. I called it my dad's plane, he was one of the first electricians to work on this beautiful plane at Fulton in Bristol .❤
Stupidity of the ecotwerps. They couldn't figure out if a plane can get somewhere in half the time, then it only had to run its engines for half the time!
A beautiful bird. The only airplane that people would stop and watch. Phil Collins flew to USA on one at Live Aid, it flew over Wembley Stadium to the cheers from that huge crowd. Oddly enough, it was tiny inside by comparison to other contemporary aircraft and window seats were not for those of a large stature! I was fortunate to be given official access to a 'few' Concordes at Heathrow one Sunday morning. Although I never flew in one, I have sat in a pilot's seat! What amazed me most was how much the structure moved around while walking inside it. I wouldn't say it bounced, but it was certainly not like standing on solid ground! Marvelous aircraft, sadly missed by many.
An absolute beauty of a flying machine.. sadly missed .. well done all who conceived and built her and well done to the sky jockeys who flew her and the teams who maintained her .. very very well done ❤❤❤
Big thanks to the late #TonyBenn who championed this plane through out its complete life span, from concept until its retirement. Just imagine what we could achieve with that sort of co-operative thinking and doing - the Americans might’ve landed on the moon, but we would’ve offered package holidays to it!
Wow! thanks for posting... I was on the BA concorde twice... years ago, I claimed an American Airlines award, 160,000 miles roundtrip, LAX to New York to London to Calcutta, first class, and Concorde across the atlantic both ways. Nowadays, 160,000 miles might get you economy to Europe, on dates you want to go.
I love the story of how, when the Concorde first made its first commercial flight in '76, and Elton John was touring, Princess Anne was at one of his shows, and she was asked if she liked it, and she said "yes; it was louder than the Concorde!" So Elton called it the "Louder Than The Concorde" Tour!🤣

@@zacharyhustler9378 Perhaps not for you as you were working in the toilette of the american companies & wouldn't wish to loose your job F.I.
And wales
My parents were fairly well traveled and they both used to contend, there was nothing like that flight. For several years they were blessed to experience this amazing art, and for me, it is sad I will never be able to fly Concorde. Wow.... still so special!!!
Beautiful footage, thank you! What a gorgeous bird she was ❤️
The speed at which it gets up to take off speed is obviously faster than a regular jet. You can almost see the speed surges happening every few seconds. What a fascinating piece of machinery!
Was just saying the same thing. The acceleration is mind blowing.

Still the most stunning aircraft created.
You can go aboard this prototype Concorde any time you visit Duxford.
002 is at the Fleet Air Arm Museum, Yeovilton
@@jonmcgee3358 yes, you are right, it’s prototype 101 at Duxford.
I think we're the uncooperative jerks now.
My son and I were there to watch her on every visit to Luton…..absolutely awesome spectacular memory! 😝
What a fantastic sight. I was working as a subcontractor at Casablanca airport in October 1974, what a privilege to see it take off many times in the three weeks I was there. The BAC people worked very hard, 7 full days a week, they were all doing their bit for the project, they were great bunch to work with. Happy days.
My son’s & I were able to see the Concord take off from Ontario Airport California back in the early ‘80’s!
It was Very Impressive!
And FAST!!!
The most beautiful airplane ever build, history here will not repeat itself, it is sad that we don't see this legendary bird fly again, I love it since I was a kid and now I'm 48 years old and i still search about its videos to watch it fly hearing the sound of its engines, real enjoyment for me.
I do the same thing (smile).

The Concordes had Rolls-Royce engines, didn't they?
@@bobtaranto8896 yep
Concorde was the pinnacle of aviation grace/elegance.
The most beautiful plane in the fleet and a plane truly missed. R.I.P. Concorde
I worked for TWA as a flight attendant based at JFK in 1986 saw it almost every week ..Happy days 👍🇬🇧🇺🇲
Fisheye glass windows in the cabin. You can't see a curve from the flight deck. Flat as a pancake that goes on forever.
I miss Concorde - the most beautiful aircraft ever made!
you and me both...
when Concorde was still in service and I had to go to Reading for business, I always ensured I was there around 11am for when it passed over. The crackle from those 4 Olympus engines was wonderful to hear.
My god absolutely and utterly stunning aircraft, she is very sadly missed.
Concorde.
For me... the Concorde was the most beautiful airplane that ever flew.
A friend of mine is like that; she was a Concorde air hostess.
I saw Speedbird over Glasgow with the Red Arrows days before her demise. I could have cried. An aircraft I grew up with. Sorely missed.
Truly the most beautiful and awesome aircraft ever made - goosebumps watching this - thank you for posting!
I really enjoyed taking the video but boy was it cold, it took all my concentration to hold the camera steady. Mal Smalley
It's my pleasure. Mal
Great video, thanks for posting.
1:26 Run. Concorde is watching you.
Many a time sw it taking off out of London Heathrow in the 1970s. Then in and out of bahrain International Airport 1977 to 1979. Saw the last one out of bahrain in 1979.. even got a trip down a taxiway to watch it take off at night on full afterburner so loud so amazing..graceful plane it was
To me The Concorde was and still is the most beautiful thing ever to fly.
Yeah.... Along with the 747..!! ❤👍 Imho..!!
early to mid 1990`s was stuck in a traffic jam on the m25 (what else are you going to do on the m25) with heathrow to my right. all of a sudden heard this loud rumbling and my car just started to shake as concord took off and literally flew over the top of my car.never heard anything so loud in my life but it was a beautiful site.
I saw her flying in Barbados in 1996. So loud and beautiful. Sadly missed. Fuel efficient engines and safety upgrades and we could have a charger plane still flying today.... we definitely need a successor
Great video - I coughed, unawares I was holding my breath that long before it charged down the runway. It just fascinates me every time.
I was there the day it landed, as I lived in Luton back then and it was the talk of the town :) So nice to see this again, thank you :)
Thanks for that sorry about the camera movement but it was so cold that day. Mal
Still the most incredible plane ever built!!
Without doubt the most beautifully designed passenger aircraft ever made. Such a pity it was ‘retired’!
I have seen Concorde on the ground and in the air. She was a thing of great beauty - and smaller than I ever imagined.
Most beautiful man made machine ever
Most iconic man made object ever. Nothing else made in reasonable numbers is ever referred to in the singular. Just think, you drive A Bugatti 41 whereas you fly in Concorde!
Saturn v...!! Imho..!! But yes.. A true beauty..!! 👍
Gone, but not forgotten. Simply the most beautiful commercial aircraft ever invented. Considering this was created over fifty years ago, we are actually going backwards technologically.
Hallo Jeremy, nicht nur Technologisch, sondern auch in allen anderen Belangen.❗👎 😵 🥴
Freundlichst Willi . . . 🤷♂️
The same could be said about space exploration. Man went to the Moon over fifty years ago and we still haven't returned. The Space Shuttle is gone and we're relegated to mere rockets. Backwards it is then.
Think about Climate Change ?
Hopefully one day an aircraft like concorde can reach orbit and take passengers on a space flight.
Thx 4 uploading, brings back gr8 👍 memories 4 me .
I agree
Absolutely marvellous! I remember driving along the road in Filton and the stop lights started flashing, then all of a sudden the car started jumping around it was Concord just on my right side on full afterburners bloody fantastic 🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧
I remember her flying over my house regularly,
Banking left and heading towards Heathrow airport.
Absolutely majestic.
Went in the cockpit of concorde 1995 for my 5th birthday I miss these planes
Pure and simply.... the greatest aeroplane ever built.
Remember seeing it landing and taking off here in Miami , it was such a wonderful aircraft, ahead of His Time. It was like a slow motion Bird taking off. My cousin work in the cleaning crew of those planes , said it was like a spaceship, just a Gem . ✈️✈️🇬🇧🇫🇷💯
Haven’t seen this before. Thanks for posting. I saw the three planes flying into Heathrow for the last time which was such a sad day!
What a GREAT takeoff shot! I flew on Concorde from LHR to JFK on Sept. 14, 2003. Fantastic flight!
Jealous!
Might be one of the most beautiful man made creations ever. What an extraordinary machine
speedbird we loved you and miss you
homer151 all BA flights are prefixed Speedbird on any type of aircraft.
It was amazing and completely unforgettable flying in her from NYC to LHR ... she was like a rocket
Marvelous aircraft, sadly missed by many.
an aircraft that still had lots to give, will be missed
Ahh those Rolls Royce engines! She was beautiful..saw her once flying into Leeds/ Bradford years ago.
One of the most beautiful I’ve ever seen!
This glorious Speedbird looked like it was doing Mach 2 even on the runway!
The Greatest plane ever built, no question.
Wow! thanks for posting...
Such an aviation tour de force...truly and sorely missed! This vehicle was way ahead of its time👍
A friend of mine was an air hostess on Concorde; blonde and full of grace; two of a kind.
Great video. My first time seeing the Concorde take off. Thanks for sharing.
My pleasure. Mal
