Seriously, mods like that are exactly why I don't even bother buying modern games anymore... It's 2019 and I'm still having tons of fun with classics such as Doom, Morrowind, SW KotOR 1 & 2, old GTA games like San Andreas... and seems like I'm gonna have a stupidly good time playing D1 again now thanks to this awesome mod. For me, fun gameplay comes waaaay before gfx so yeah, retro gaming + mods FTW! :D

Started playing this about a week ago. Really fun. Have a sorcerer I have very high spell levels, but going to restart. Lots of work going to waste, farmed a lot of spellbooks in soulstone chamber, but oh well. Want those +skills to golem and guardian. Also a piece of advice for someone new starting out. I found it really good to have my first character be a barbarian. He is insanely powerful at lower levels since he doesn't use mana. He is item dependent however not when you start out. Since you can just use the weapondrop from first boss "butchers cleaver". With the barbarian "cleave" skill which is an aoe you will crush 3/4 of normal difficulty with this weapon. Really fantastic killspeed. Save all spellbooks, buy no items for him. When you find your killspeed slowing down because of harder enemies( elemental damage, ranged etc). Start up the sorcerer but first shop the town staff vendor, the witch, with the barb. You are trying to buy a chain lightning staff, preferably extra charges. Give the sorcerer this staff and all spellbooks you saved, buy tons of mana pots also with your money. The sorcerer ability to recharge a staff makes everything super easy if you have a staff with lots of charges. Extra charges means you most probably will not run out until the cooldown is done to refill the staff. And yeah you can use this line: $player x to simulate number of players. 10 is max. Makes exp fast and drops good. A sorcerer twinked the way I wrote above can play on player 10 easy right from the get go. Without noticing a time difference in kill speed. Chain lightning is that powerful. my 2 cents :)
I remember playing this and I loved the sorcerer, I think he was the strongest class. The warrior seemed like dog shit at lvl 40ish and I stopped trying to make it work haha

Diablo1, Hellfire, and Belzebub all installed and first test warrior created, tweaking the video settings a little to look just right (the game begins in windowed mode that requires one to head into 'Video Settings' once their test character is in town) Again, thanks Moses. It'll be great to play again with new attribues like stash and such. woo hoo!! Anyone doing this remember to run as admin, or save games wont work.

I'm glad you are enjoying this! also,for a real pro gameplay I suggest checking out Th8il's youtube channel,he finished the game with all characters,old and new in TORMENT difficulty (he must have been grinding gear and crafting for at least a year) all his chars are max level 60.. but he did it! highly recommended. This mod is awesome and even works on gogs Diablo 1 and recently played it earlier today and gonna make a new character soon. A little Spoiler for those who haven’t played it! Press G on your keyboard and you can increase the players walk speed in town only to 100% bit slows back in the dungeon so hope that helps out :). Last updated March 2023 but check it out it’s a great mod!

Sorceror to farm gear on torment LT chest runs, Rogue to butcher the game. Pretty much. And I'm not sure on this but in D2 energy shield calculations work before the resistances so it doesn't matter much for a soso to get whether -100 resists or 75 cap because effective damage taken is 95% on mana and 5% on HP pool so all a sorc cares is pure mana boost and -% enemy resists. Since belzebub is inspired by D2, it may be working the same way. If so, resists won't matter here as well. However if they changed it, then it sure will matter. But I'd still rather have more magic/effective mana than resistances since I can click a pot anyway. Last thing; use $player 1-10 when you're aiming for more XP and loot depending on how much you can take. Especially 10 on chest runs. Make sure to gamble extra money on amulets and rings at gheed. rogue is actually the kingpin class in this mod, due to immunities in torment difficulty. sorcerer is still a good option for first character tho. also similar to sorcerer, you would spec straight into dex with a rogue.. very glasscannon which is why you would want some gear for her first.
I watched gameplay runs of Torment for all the belzebub classes, Rogue is a complete savage compared to Sorcerer, im lvling a sorcerer atm ONLY so i can do Lost Treasure farming until i get Heartseeker for Rogue, then i'll go play Rogue since it seems to be SO much better in comparison.

Another point to make> Drop every points from leveling in the stat that sinnergy with your character skills: mage (all mag), scout (all dex), warrior and barb (all str), necro (all vit), assa (all dex). Y get your needed stats only from equipment.
Awesome guide and gear! I was like OMG :O when your Moses mage slowed time and teleported with 252% Magic Find gear skipping the fights and only looting the 3 chests around minute 29:00. Didn't know about the Golem +1 quest. I only noticed recently that my Town Portal spell capped at lvl 15 because I tried learning a new book but it didn't do anything.
Level cap is indeed 60. There is also added monster power. Default is 0 and you can crank it up to 10. Command is $player 0-10. It doesn't work on containers though.

+moses2265 It's the Horazon's Sanctum quest. It's that quest from level 8 where you need to read 3 books in a specific order. Apparently The Summoner there must die last to get the +1 golem reward.

Do monsters respawn with this mod so you can grind your level up or do you have to just restart the game? And do you know if the rules for loot dropping/ farming is any different from original diablo? In the original one you just looted the dungeon levels 13-16 at different difficulties for all the best loot.
Hey man u got me into d1 belzabub. First playthrough of any d1 ever, loving it. I need help on diablo though i cant find the levers. And sometimes strong guys spawn where i cant even hurt them at all, and i have lvl 7 chain light and guardian, level 28 right now. Any tips?
How to change hotkeys or enable fast cast of spells? Iam trying to bind to QWERDF just like a moba, but I cant change controls it remains F1 TO 8 , and theres no option for fast cast

Cool guide. I keep getting one-shot by some of these blood knights in the domain of terror on nightmare difficulty. No idea what to do. I have all my resistances maxed out
Try keeping them busy for a few seconds with Golem, then quickly cast Fire Wall. Once Golem is dead, teleport away, resurrect Golem, repeat. It helped me today, since those knights are immune to lightning.
Looks more like Diablo2 in Diablo1 skin. Nice though but would have liked if it could be the complete D1 experience with only HD resolution as an option
Playing it with the GOG version which has Hellfire. Seems to be working fine so far. Just not sure it'll change any of the Hellfire content though. So it might be easier then the rest of the mod.

As a sorcerer, how do you deal with a horde of quadruple immunes who can chill your golem? The only ways I can think of is trying to them or using the apocalypse spell, but is there any technique that's more efficient?
no idea dude,last I played this game was 3 years ago,I'm into POE right now,and basically forgot all I knew about this great game. :) one thing I do remember though,torment is impossible without elite crafting and stuff.. so don't even bother. I finished the game in hell. thats all.

Their was definitely items in the game that have more then 2 enchantments on them. The helm you get in he'll from the leoric soldier captain i think it was has more then 2.
Myabondonware.com will find the base game and disc image. Extract that to a folder on your desktop. Then google diablo 1 hd mod and extract it into your folder and replace all files if prompted. After that make sure you run belzebub as administrator

I watched gameplay vids of all the classes on Torment and i gotta say, Sorcerer seems to be for true Masochists, even with -30% to all resistances it takes tons of more time to kill mobs compared to both Warrior and Rogue (rogue is incredibly superior).
@@nathandaniel5451 Yes, and that's exactly what he is used for, when i googled to try and find some info there was a guide which exactly mentioned that you only play sorc so you can get gear for the other classes, pretty funny and sad at the same time, but i got my sorc to last difficulty and farmed gear for both warrior and Rogue, having a much more fun time with both Warrior and Rogue than i had on sorc, sorc sucks at about end of nightmare and beyond due to resistances being so incredibly high, you deal crap damage.
sorry for the dumb question but with what items you craft?for a example i want to craft a necromancer armour but i can't find the correct body armour to do it,i have tried everything,i'm currently playing on nightmare do i need to be on hell to craft?!!!help please!!!
feel free to ask any question man! when it comes to the crafting system,from my understanding,it is not worth crafting anything BUT TOP TIER items.level 55-60 recepies only will be viable and only in the end game of torment gameplay. so.. don't waste your time on low level crafting,because chest farming will yield better items :)
yeah, it is great mod :D Although it can get easy at the beginning if you keep strong items in the trade stash and help a new character level up fast :) Am using the Assassin and having fun at the moment lol. Her voice sounds like a little girl haha
@@MosesPlays you do have a single, 8 slot belt that uses hotkeys 1-8 and can also accommodate scrolls, but the slots are empty once used and have to be dragged and dropped to refill.
that really goes against everything I believe in when it comes to gaming. why cheat? I believe when this mod got popular and the resurgance of players came back , diablo handed off the rights to gog and have been trying to make money off it again rather than letting people steal it easily.

Hey Man, nice vid! I got the game to work but i always get a weird color glitch where e.g. barrels or chests are rainbow colored. I am running this on Windows 7 64 bit, Nvidia graphics - driver is up to date. OpenAL is also installed. Any advice would be kindly appreciated. cheers
You can also make a set of itens with the stat "reduce the level of your spells" by equiping them the requirement of magic to learn the book goes down a level or more depending on how much itens with this stat you have equipped, then you can just unequip your itens to return to normal.
You put all your stat points to Magic? Why? You have to be able to pick up high Strength staves. I'm against Diablo on the last floor and I repetitively die because of massive cooldown of Elemental Drain and cause of all types of magic damage resistance and immunities of what the freakin Diablo has. A lot of the bosses were pure frustration to deal with and on the last level I literally have to face a total of 3-4 bosses and I'm not prepared for that. I'm a level 28 Sorceror and I find basically no magical solution against full immunity monsters.
You can level up the others (I had a level 42 warrior) but Saucy is the best all round character, simply because once you start getting into the higher levels you really don't want to be going one on one with a bunch of enemies. That where the advantage of being able to cast spells at a distance comes in handy. I played the warrior as a sorcerer but you can't get anywhere near as much magic to cast higher level skills.
@@DodgyBrothersEngineering it just feels like the mod just made the sorcerer even more OP and almost manditory. Soon as you get to level 9-10 in the dungeon if you dont have massive aoe screen clears, you just Die over and over again until you grind so enough to where you have 75 all resists. or you know, You pick up the crafting hammer on rogue and just get stunlocked forever and cant even do anything because of the smith's attack speed.
@@Jexorz86 I never play the rouge, I find her to be the most useless of the classes. I haven't tried the patch yet I am still playing on the original version, but I like the look of some of the mod features like being able to carry a lot more health / mana. For me this has always been the greatest weakness of the game, and probably needing a bit more storage. I don't want the game to be any more complicated, I want to spend less time healing myself so I can focus on the enemies. I do like the storage lockers, it saves having to lay everything out all over the catacombs area. Which takes time picking up and putting down.

I'm curious, how fast do you level up if you set players to 10 compared to 1? I have been playing a while and never knew about the "$player x" command =/. Apparently I have been playing a caster wrong (Both Sorcerer and Necromancer) by dumping some points into Strength also just so that I could use some of the good caster Mail to Plate type gear =/. I guess a benefit from these two characters is that I have gear I could use on some newer characters...
I really enjoy the original experience. This mod adds so much content, it makes it like a whole new game... i would have like to see an HD only mod, ot the possibility to not use this whole bunch of extra content.
Look up 'freeablo' on Google. It's an open-source conversion of the original game that's is designed for newer systems (since it's written in newer code). You will still need the disc for the art assets, however.
Hi I love the game but the game is too hard for me. My Character is a Warrior and he is Lvl 43 in Hell . But now it is no longer ahead , in the lower levels of difficulty , there is little more experience and to Hell I come against lightning Immune no longer wieter opponents. Seats quite an impasse. as I never played Warrior class in this mod (I have years ago in vanilla) I can't really give advice on how to gear up skill up build up and destroy the game with the warrior,but I can definately reffer you to the official belzibub forums there exist a kind and vivid (surprisingly) community that will definately help you with your problems. find the save files in your hard drive and save after you finish a session . or some DC or bug might corrupt your files and you lose your character forever :) happend to me once. only once :)
There is a serious problem with Diablo 1 HD which is item drop. The chances of the item drop is so awful and giving out so much trash items that aren’t useful in most cases. It’s very very bad. Even when I’m at 30 level and more. I still don’t get good items for nightmare mode in catacombs or caves. The demons there are too strong for trash items we get…..
im not a very experience pc gamer. i just switched from consoles to pc gaming like 4 months ago. im a little inexperienced. do i require a diablo 1 disc to play this?
Do you use Win10? If you do, there is NO NEED to use Daemontools.... As Win10 has an inbuilt mounting system. First, download the actual game of Diablo 1, using a ISO download link... Then mount it (Find it on your desktop or in downloads, right click, choose Mount) Then run the Belzebub Diablo.exe..... and you will be playing in no time.
Not true,i beat Torment difficulty with 8 players monster power on and did all quests as a 56 level necro,sorc sucks once you reach hell and torment difficulties,you start running into packs that are immune to literally every spell...You will get 1 or 2 shotted even with mana shield up and your golem won't keep you alive

in the original game you had a potion button, you would fill your inventory and just hit the potion button and it would take them from your inventory.

Another point to make> Drop every points from leveling in the stat that sinnergy with your character skills: mage (all mag), scout (all dex), warrior and barb (all str), necro (all vit), assa (all dex). Y get your needed stats only from equipment.

I was like OMG :O when your Moses mage slowed time and teleported with 252% Magic Find gear skipping the fights and only looting the 3 chests around minute 29:00.

I only noticed recently that my Town Portal spell capped at lvl 15
because I tried learning a new book but it didn't do anything.
Level cap is indeed 60.
There is also added monster power. Default is 0 and you can crank it up to 10. Command is $player 0-10. It doesn't work on containers though.

+moses2265 It's the Horazon's Sanctum quest. It's that quest from level 8 where you need to read 3 books in a specific order. Apparently The Summoner there must die last to get the +1 golem reward.
+moses2265 Also I forgot 1 thing. You don't have to count your mf on your gear. Total MF is shown in magic tab of character screen.

Do monsters respawn with this mod so you can grind your level up or do you have to just restart the game? And do you know if the rules for loot dropping/ farming is any different from original diablo? In the original one you just looted the dungeon levels 13-16 at different difficulties for all the best loot.

Cool guide. I keep getting one-shot by some of these blood knights in the domain of terror on nightmare difficulty. No idea what to do. I have all my resistances maxed out
Probably better HP items and higher attack speed.
Also,try to avoid grouping them up,they die esier one by one.
Try keeping them busy for a few seconds with Golem, then quickly cast Fire Wall. Once Golem is dead, teleport away, resurrect Golem, repeat. It helped me today, since those knights are immune to lightning.
Use Firewall in front of you and wait for them to come. Use Shift key and hack them to pieces,

Playing it with the GOG version which has Hellfire. Seems to be working fine so far. Just not sure it'll change any of the Hellfire content though. So it might be easier then the rest of the mod.

As a sorcerer, how do you deal with a horde of quadruple immunes who can chill your golem? The only ways I can think of is trying to them or using the apocalypse spell, but is there any technique that's more efficient?

Their was definitely items in the game that have more then 2 enchantments on them. The helm you get in he'll from the leoric soldier captain i think it was has more then 2.
Just uniques in the base game had more than 2 properties, nothing but normal, magic and unique items (no rare or set).

Myabondonware.com will find the base game and disc image. Extract that to a folder on your desktop. Then google diablo 1 hd mod and extract it into your folder and replace all files if prompted. After that make sure you run belzebub as administrator

I watched gameplay vids of all the classes on Torment and i gotta say, Sorcerer seems to be for true Masochists, even with -30% to all resistances it takes tons of more time to kill mobs compared to both Warrior and Rogue (rogue is incredibly superior).
I think sorc is great for normal through hell though, good for getting gear for other characters
@@nathandaniel5451 Yes, and that's exactly what he is used for, when i googled to try and find some info there was a guide which exactly mentioned that you only play sorc so you can get gear for the other classes, pretty funny and sad at the same time, but i got my sorc to last difficulty and farmed gear for both warrior and Rogue, having a much more fun time with both Warrior and Rogue than i had on sorc, sorc sucks at about end of nightmare and beyond due to resistances being so incredibly high, you deal crap damage.

when it comes to the crafting system,from my understanding,it is not worth crafting anything BUT TOP TIER items.level 55-60 recepies only will be viable and only in the end game of torment gameplay.
so.. don't waste your time on low level crafting,because chest farming will yield better items :)

yeah, it is great mod :D Although it can get easy at the beginning if you keep strong items in the trade stash and help a new character level up fast :) Am using the Assassin and having fun at the moment lol. Her voice sounds like a little girl haha
@@MosesPlays you do have a single, 8 slot belt that uses hotkeys 1-8 and can also accommodate scrolls, but the slots are empty once used and have to be dragged and dropped to refill.

I believe when this mod got popular and the resurgance of players came back , diablo handed off the rights to gog and have been trying to make money off it again rather than letting people steal it easily.

You can also make a set of itens with the stat "reduce the level of your spells" by equiping them the requirement of magic to learn the book goes down a level or more depending on how much itens with this stat you have equipped, then you can just unequip your itens to return to normal.

You put all your stat points to Magic? Why? You have to be able to pick up high Strength staves. I'm against Diablo on the last floor and I repetitively die because of massive cooldown of Elemental Drain and cause of all types of magic damage resistance and immunities of what the freakin Diablo has. A lot of the bosses were pure frustration to deal with and on the last level I literally have to face a total of 3-4 bosses and I'm not prepared for that. I'm a level 28 Sorceror and I find basically no magical solution against full immunity monsters.
I cannot share weapons via trade stash ... what am I doing wrong ?

You can level up the others (I had a level 42 warrior) but Saucy is the best all round character, simply because once you start getting into the higher levels you really don't want to be going one on one with a bunch of enemies. That where the advantage of being able to cast spells at a distance comes in handy. I played the warrior as a sorcerer but you can't get anywhere near as much magic to cast higher level skills.
@@DodgyBrothersEngineering it just feels like the mod just made the sorcerer even more OP and almost manditory. Soon as you get to level 9-10 in the dungeon if you dont have massive aoe screen clears, you just Die over and over again until you grind so enough to where you have 75 all resists. or you know, You pick up the crafting hammer on rogue and just get stunlocked forever and cant even do anything because of the smith's attack speed.
TLDR im rather annoyed they gave the glass cannon best farming character the strongest defense in the game :p
@@Jexorz86 I never play the rouge, I find her to be the most useless of the classes. I haven't tried the patch yet I am still playing on the original version, but I like the look of some of the mod features like being able to carry a lot more health / mana. For me this has always been the greatest weakness of the game, and probably needing a bit more storage. I don't want the game to be any more complicated, I want to spend less time healing myself so I can focus on the enemies. I do like the storage lockers, it saves having to lay everything out all over the catacombs area. Which takes time picking up and putting down.

I'm asking because, if it does, then it would be good to have it activated when doing the Magic Runs. But if they don't... then it would be a waste of time to type it while doing Magic Runs.
I found out in a forum that it does NOT. Chests and barrels are not influenced by "$Player X".
Just exp and monster drops i believe

It´s AutoSave everytime you exit the game. Also, Dungeons and Loot are refilled when you come back.
I'm curious, how fast do you level up if you set players to 10 compared to 1? I have been playing a while and never knew about the "$player x" command =/.
Apparently I have been playing a caster wrong (Both Sorcerer and Necromancer) by dumping some points into Strength also just so that I could use some of the good caster Mail to Plate type gear =/. I guess a benefit from these two characters is that I have gear I could use on some newer characters...

I really enjoy the original experience. This mod adds so much content, it makes it like a whole new game... i would have like to see an HD only mod, ot the possibility to not use this whole bunch of extra content.
Look up 'freeablo' on Google. It's an open-source conversion of the original game that's is designed for newer systems (since it's written in newer code). You will still need the disc for the art assets, however.

Hi I love the game but the game is too hard for me. My Character is a Warrior and he is Lvl 43 in Hell .
But now it is no longer ahead , in the lower levels of difficulty , there is little more experience and to Hell I come against lightning Immune no longer wieter opponents. Seats quite an impasse. Maybe someone can help me here with tips , tricks or recipes for Hell and Torment suitable equipment.Thanks in advance , would be a shame to the beautiful game if I had to give up
as I never played Warrior class in this mod (I have years ago in vanilla) I can't really give advice on how to gear up skill up build up and destroy the game with the warrior,but I can definately reffer you to the official belzibub forums there exist a kind and vivid (surprisingly) community that will definately help you with your problems.

character, storage chests, quest progress and shortcuts are saved automatically, you do not have to save manually.
find the save files in your hard drive and save after you finish a session .
or some DC or bug might corrupt your files and you lose your character forever :)

There is a serious problem with Diablo 1 HD which is item drop. The chances of the item drop is so awful and giving out so much trash items that aren’t useful in most cases. It’s very very bad. Even when I’m at 30 level and more. I still don’t get good items for nightmare mode in catacombs or caves. The demons there are too strong for trash items we get…..

Do you use Win10?
If you do, there is NO NEED to use Daemontools.... As Win10 has an inbuilt mounting system.
First, download the actual game of Diablo 1, using a ISO download link... Then mount it (Find it on your desktop or in downloads, right click, choose Mount)
Then run the Belzebub Diablo.exe..... and you will be playing in no time.

Not true,i beat Torment difficulty with 8 players monster power on and did all quests as a 56 level necro,sorc sucks once you reach hell and torment difficulties,you start running into packs that are immune to literally every spell...You will get 1 or 2 shotted even with mana shield up and your golem won't keep you alive
