  • I purchased Project CARS as soon as it was released. Yesterday marked the one year anniversary. With that came an update. The update said to have added a completely scratch made new tire model for the Formula A.
First off. The FOV is calculated differently than my other games, so I just kind of guessed. It didn't feel bad while driving, but it should have been lower after seeing the video. Also, my graphics settings were medium-high for everything in DX11 mode. It looked much better than recording the monitors can convey. Last, I have never driven the Nordscheife in pCars so this is my first time looking at it.
My thoughts. Much better than the old tire model/physics. Whatever you want to call it. It still isn't rFactor quality, but it has an appeal. I still had to be careful with the throttle, and I had to be easy on the brakes. I'm not much of a Formula person, but I felt the car was too stuck to the road even for a small formula car.
The FFB was actually much better than I remember. I could feel the back end wanting to get out, could feel the bumps in the road. Seems everything I should have been feeling was there. If you watch toward the second half of the video the track became a little bumpier than the first half. You can see my wheels skipping in the corners, and I think you can see it in the FFB as well. I was very pleased.
Overall I'm impressed. The visuals are obviously amazing, and the physics seem to be going in a positive direction with this tire model. It still leaves much to be desired, but at this point where it is now, I wouldn't hesitate to sign up for league races for fun.

I think it will bridge the gap between sim and arcade. I would put it below rFactor 1 and 2, but above F1 series, Forza, GT3.
