I saw the Derek Trucks band at the Masonic Auditorium in S.F and Carlos came out and jammed on a few songs. It was really special; electrifying. Melodic, trading off; on fire 🔥.
Carlos calls him "The Anointed One".It's funny!He and Susan are just outrageously good.The best music around now for sure.He fits with Carlos really well they are both "tapped in" so deep...
I think it's because the song comes first to Derek. A lot of outrageously good players wouldn't fit in, because they'd be showing off how talented they are, or not respecting the song.
