His device was already unlocked. Pause the video on 4:53 and see the status. Also, for unlocking bootloader of redmi device, you will have to flash the dev rom. Only this method works rest all is fake. You cannot update it through updator app. You have to flash it.

This happens to me many times when I was trying, what I was doing , using internet of my phone and when I switch it off to bootloader, internet disconnects, then I tried with keeping internet active with help of other phone and than It doesn't show unknown error-1. So yes you need to keep connected while unlocking .

Apparently all of the Xiaomi Redmi devices, including Note 4x which have Android Marshmallow and above, aren't supported by Mi this unlocking software. Great beautiful phone but it's like a nice car with a steering wheel that was locked forever; regretting so much buying it.

Unlocking may stop at 50% or 99% if you have not linked your account to your device. For that, go to additional settings, developer options, unlock status and press add acount to device. That's it!
