Hearing that ER ambiance in the background, all I can say is that ER melee combat could use an upgrade to Vermintide / Darktide melee complexity. Tide games have usable movesets and more importantly combos which give you access to single target / cleave combos on virtually all weapons. The melee combat also feels far more responsive and enjoyable.
"That which is dope may never die." V2 has been an incredible coop game for a long time now, with consistent updates, content drops, and ENORMOUS amounts of QOL features that were focused on satisfying players. There have been SO MANY requests by the community that Fatshark simply said "okay, we'll do that". This is why Darktide had such a rough start, because V2 had all of the bones of what Darktide should have been, but when it launched it was lacking those quality of life features. V2, IMO, still remains as one of the top coop games of all time. Up there with L4D2, Halo 3, and Helldivers 2.
This game helped me get through one depressive episode. It will always have a special place in my heart. But I don't think I will ever come back for more than one or two rounds, it just feels stressful now.
@damsen978 My friends don't play the game anymore. Also the gameplay is made to be stressful. The music, the hordes, the never knowing where the next special enemy is hiding. I know I can breeze through the lowest difficulty with my max level char, but it don't feels rewarding.
I played vermintide 1 like crazy had a lv700 character. And vermintide 2 is even better I will never leave that game, I go back and play it with my friends atleast few times a week. Its the feeling that bring me back, the teamplay is amazing
Vermintide 2 will never be dead The game doesn't use third party servers, instead it uses Steam's peer to peer connection network. As long as Steam exists, players can play together. As a 4 player co-op game, to have a full experience you only need yourself and 3 friends. Yes, if playercounts are generally low, quickplaying into matches might be more challenging, but generally speaking, the game will never be dead if you can sit down and play with 3 other friends.
Me and two friends did everything in the game in cataclysm we all have at least 400 hours, we come back everytime something new is release to beat it, this game is so so so satisfying to play
The game has lower player count because it's 6 years old and you can only kill the same 35 enemies so many times before you grow bored of it. After 1500h (over 5 years) I literaly play the game on autopilot most of the time and I have unlocked close to everything that isn't pure tedium to unlock (looking at you all 15 white skins). I had a really good run with the game but at this point it holds nothing more for me (and all my friends dislike the game so I can't play with them, not that it would change anything because the skill gap between us would be so big I would be basiclay babysitting then and not playing the game and the whole time there would be no stakes because I can carry the game whenever I want).

Bought V2 off Steam sale for 5€ after discussing getting a new game among 4 of my friends, myself leaning towards Left 4 Dead style games. Had never heard of Vermintide but it’s fun so far. Perhaps a little too easy, I think I’ve lost a map only once after about 30 hours in the game and already playing Champion (soon legend). So not sure about the longevity if theres no challenge, just grinding maps and chests.
I realized recently that this is my favorite game of all time. The gameplay, the setting, the atmosphere, the sound design, the characters, the voice acting. Every time I play, I feel insanely immersed. Unfortunately new players always think its a hold W and spam left click type of game, which it is not once you play anything but the lowest two difficulties. I just can't get enough of the game. Every time I play, I have it installed for 50 - 100 hours, take a break and come back for another 50 - 100 hours. But my god, the community, while friendly, consists of a bunch of cheapskates. They negatively review the dlc for no reason. The only dlc that deserves a bad score is Winds of Magic, all other dlcs deserve every cent. Blows my mind how people with hundreds of hours complain about spending 10 - 15 bucks on a dlc (they often go on sale). They also complain that Fatshark gave them the option to buy the new careers without the cosmetics... They expect new career, new weapons, quests, portrait borders, getting their d sucked, all for under 10 bucks. Truly mindblowing community. Yet modern players have no issue spending 20 bucks for a skin in game. I have purchased every single dlc and reviewed it positively (except for Winds of Magic). Nothing compares to this game.

Chaos Wastes is a waste. I fucking absolutely hate rouge-likes. Why you want to play a game where progression determined randomly and resets, I don't know. It doesn't appeal to me. And I don't think it appeal to average Joe. Fuck that.
Content takes forever because deva are addicted to their ow game
