- Many of the existing robot heads use a large number of actuators to emulate facial expressions. It is justifiable to use more actuators to completely imitate the intricate motions of human facial muscles, but to imitate the basic facial expressions, the number of actuators used can be reduced. This project was an attempt to develop a robot head that utilizes only 7 actuators to achieve basic facial expressions.
Total cost : ₹ 11700 (excluding 3d printing and Raspberry Pi costs)
Softwares used:
Cad modeling: SolidWorks 2020
Model animation video: SolidWorks animation, rendered using Photoview360
Graphic design: Adobe Photoshop

Even the sound of the eye lids opening and closing. First thing that popped into my head was Robin Williams voice saying “Hello” and then the Blink. Very nice job.
thankyou!
Akash is really tallented, dedicated and hard working. He put lot of effort and time in realizing this in the final form and it is one of the best works I have seen in my academic career. Wishing you all the best for a prosperous career ahead in Robotics
This wouldn't have been possible without your constant encouragement and support sir...Thank you!! ❤️

this is amazing! thanks for such detailed walkthrough
Thankyou!!
Good job dear bro ❤️
fantastic presentation and final work!
Thankyou!
Excellent work! Congratulations!
Thankyou!
Nice to see the process commented on in much details.
Thanks! Thought it might help someone trying to build a robot head!😄
Great work dude !!! Its fabulous.
thanku
BUENISIMOO !
I like the hand drawings at 00:50. Looks like the drawings for the first iron man suit :)
Sooooo effing cool !!!😮😮😍😍🔥🔥
great work, all the best !
Thankyou!!
Good Work!
Thankyouu!!
Awesome work. 👍
Thankyouu!!
It's very helpful video jo yese hi robot bnana chahte hai
Thanks!!
👍👍
Nice work
Thankyouu
This is awesome

Wow
Thankyouu!!
What is the usage of level shifter and limit switches in the circuits in the second version
👏👏👏👏
❤️❤️❤️
Mind blowing work bro... 🎉🎉🎉🎉
thankyou!
I don't know ,much about robotics in depth but it's an interesting project and explained in a beautiful way ❤️
Thanks man!!❤
Thanks for your dedication, I have an Interest with humanoid robots too and this gave me insight for what kind of research that i will propose for my next degree
Thankyou man! all the best for ur work! good to know that this video helped!
@@Akash_347 do you mind if i request the 3D file for me to reprint it for research purpose? 🙏 pardon, my apologize if it's not fulfill the ethics, beacuse it will help me a lot
This is a very good robot please give me the main parts of this robot how can you make it slow motion
Hello, greetings, very good work, but where can I get the model to download it?
I would like to see the code. How are you going run the motors at the same time? Wouldn't nvidia jetson be better than raspberry pi? The jetson can do more in machine learning? I am just asking; I don't think rpi4 is powerful enough?
I dont have a copy of the code with me, I'm sorry..But i used multithreading for running all motors at same time for each expressions.. stackoverflow.com/questions/2957116/make-2-functions-run-at-the-same-time.
and yes jetson would have been a better choice if more functionalities were there, like facial recognition and neck movements. This was more of a mechanical design project and my aim was just to design a low cost robot head.
Is their a cost for the stl files so one can print their own at home?
Hi do u have any updated version now?
Amazing job, just one question, is it possible a faster working in making any facial expression??
Yes, it is possible..The mechanism i have used to convert the rotary motion of motor to linear motion in mouth and eyebrow mechanisms uses single start lead screws which have very low pitch values. Replacing these screws with a multistart screw having larger pitch values will considerably improve the speed of operation of these mechanisms and reduce the time taken for reaching each emotions.
Thank u for ur appreciation!
Hey, nice one! Why did you ended up changing the arduino for the raspberry?
Thanks!!
commands could only be executed sequentially while using Arduino...(although multithreading can be used in Arduino I didn't know back then.. multithreading on Arduino, if u're looking for one : wokwi.com/projects/305087394119418434 )...
Also raspberry pi is a mini computer, and it is essentially made for multitasking, so thought it would be better for the task at hand and also provides a scope for further expansion on the project..
@@Akash_347 Thanks brother!
Damn
does the robots eye follow you when uou move?
It's fantastic job.... very impressive... from the planning and making ... well done... whether this set up is available for sale commercially ?
Thanku for ur appreciation..No.. It is not for sale.
I want to do this except the same idea with a whole body skeleton so I can make a diy animatronic
That's awesome ! and congrats for the degree ! ..
but can we get the files for the 3d models with the codes for reference .. "I'm a Mechatronics engineer also :D "
Thankyou!

I am studying the DOF of the assembly but i can’t seem to have grasp on how does the lip mechanism works and why is there 2 servos
one servo is for actuating the cartwright mechanism which provides horizontal movement of lips.. other one is for adjusting the links of the cartwright mechanism to have a vertical displacement.
👍👍👍idivett
thanku!
The video is very informative,Thanks so much for your effort.I am trying to draw the head on solidworks and I have been having a tough time can you recommend video that helps me draw the skull supporter and jaw.
It's actually better and time saving to get the cad files from open sources and modify accordingly, than designing all by urselves from ground up. I got the cad files from here: zenodo.org/record/3539723#.ZA7MS3ZBy3A
I too tried to create the head model initially but didnt had many videos to refer to and was also taking too much time. But if u still need to design, refer this : ruclips.net/video/HRGMx9OcDTo/видео.html. Might give some idea! Thankyou for ur appreciation!

Great job on this. I am sfx artist and would love to collaborate with someone skilled with animatronics and robotics.
Great.can we get ppt of this
Home made bana saktey hai kiya robot Bina 3d printer key
can you please give me a cad files of eye mechanism.
Aapne robot ke liye under skull and skin kaha Se liya ?? Please reply me
doi.org/10.1016/j.ohx.2020.e00117 CAD files were obtained from this opensource project. Materials and procedures for skin-making are detailed in this video.
@@Akash_347 thank you so much 💜
Excuse me, I would like to ask you, if possible, to send me the plans for the 3D printer
Pl tell how to get in touch with you , we need this
Hi is it possible to buy these animatronic robot heads?
Please what's your engineering major??
