    I've been making knives for nearly 11 years now. I've struggled multiple times with ill fitting pins. What I've done is the past is used my belt grinder to slim them down a bit to fit, but it almost always wasn't perfect. I about slapped myself in the face when I saw your method of using a hand drill. 🤦‍♂ Thanks for sharing that little tidbit!
    Thank you for sharing your process. You have a new subscriber in me. I'd love your feed back on my own channel if you've the time.

    You guys should have sealed the 2 steal folds between the sheet steal first that way your stop the extra O² getting into the forge weld

    • @MartinHuber_Knives
      @MartinHuber_Knives  5 месяцев назад

      Yeah would have been possible to do, but then we would have to grind away the weld afterwards. We do this for more complex stuff line mosaics or similar, but not for normal random damascus :)
      and Borax does a great job at this aswell

    How does the modern technology being used here affect the final product if at all?

    • @MartinHuber_Knives
      @MartinHuber_Knives  4 месяца назад

      Modern technology just helps you to make the knife faster and easier.
      Sure could do something like this with a handhammer, coal forge and some files.
      But it would take AGES.
      And the one important thing about modern technology is the Heat-treatment.
      Percise temperature, holdtime and tempering is what makes the knife a working mashine! :)
