Exactly, TDoSS was about Em showing the rest of the world why they have to let go of shady, it just isn't who he is anymore. Unfortunately most people didn't get the memo.
I always took the Taylor/Iggy line a few ways. Em groups the artists names in three groups of two: A) Biggie and Jay undeniably great rappers, B) Taylor Swift and “that Iggy-Ho” (Iggy Azalea) who we’ll talk about in a minute, and C) Ja and Benzino who are in Em’s eyes mediocre rappers that he killed and publicly humiliated. Groups A and C have easy connections between the two artists, but B is a bit more confusing. Taylor and Iggy don’t have a ton in common. “They’re both pop stars”, ehhh. Are they? Taylor certainly. Iggy, ehh. Maybe in 2012 or whenever, but she’s always been more of a rap artist. Not a good one, but that’s the lane she’s been attempting to drive in. The only obvious connection to me is that they’re women, but I don’t think Em is making some kind of comment about MGK being a bitch. The easy interpretation is You’re not in anyone’s list of great rappers, certainly not anywhere near the likes of biggie or Jay. You’re not even good at pop music like Taylor or Iggy. After I destroy you you’ll be remembered like Benzino and Ja. And that’s a totally fair interpretation. What I’ve always wondered is why group Taylor and iggy together. Iggy, fine. Weird choice for this, but she is a “rapper” so makes sense to be here. Taylor, strange. Not like she hasn’t been mentioned in rap songs. She was just in the Kendrick/Drake thing, but it seems odd. What if group B is paired together not because they’re both pop stars, but because they’re both shitty rappers. We all unfortunately remember the Karma era for Taylor. The Swifties on Twitter tweeting about how Taylor can rap better than Kendrick, which doesn’t even need to have its stupidity be acknowledged. Em specifically calls Iggy a ho which tells me that he doesn’t hold her in high regard. To be fair why would he, but if he’s not holding one person in the pair in high regard it wouldn’t make sense for the other person to be someone he respected. Biggie and Jay, Ja and Benzino. Those pairs fit the same mold, but Taylor and Iggy don’t have anything in common except being shitty rappers. With that lens the verse changes to: You’re not in anyone’s list of great rappers, certainly not anywhere near the likes of biggie or Jay. You’re not even good enough to be put on the list near shitty rappers like Taylor or Iggy. After I destroy you you’ll be remembered like Benzino and Ja. This interpretation has always been way funnier to me. It’s one thing to tell someone “you’re not on anyone’s top 5/25”. Like, yeah. Duh. It’s MGK. But to say to a man, “not only are you not on anyone’s top 5/25, you’re so far down the list that you’re not even close to Taylor Swift and Iggy Azalea is a 3rd degree burn”.

Well, he did say he had to give MGK a career before he could destroy it. So, it makes sense it got all the views. Gotta come back and listen to the rest later but cannot wait to listen to it.
As a current 21 year old, there is no possible world where I would think it appropriate to think let alone call a 16 year old “hot” under any circumstances
7:48 "Need yall memories jarred" but also "need JA memories jarred", Em also buried Ja Rule back in the day along with 50 Cent, its considered one of the most brutal beatdowns he ever gave in a rap beef like, the two of them ended Ja Rules entire career, mf had to start selling tickets to scam festivals out on random islands lmao
@ Hell yeah. I appreciate that the track you used was from Voice Memos haha. 🔥 Do you have a favorite track from that album, or just a fav Quad track in general?
Derapy I love your videos and your insights on all rap music, especially rap beefs. Please please do a video breaking down Eminem’s song Tobey. I believe he kinda is touching on the whole big 3 ordeal , however , I could be mistaken but regardless it’s a dope song and SO UNDERRATED 🔥💯🔥💯
To play a little bit of (rap) devil’s advocate, back when Rap Devil came out, the beat was just so good and the vibe of the song was so fun, my friends and I would bump it all the time. Like we *knew* the bars were corny and we knew Em’s diss track was going to destroy him but idk there was something so fun about that song when it came out. I have great memories of those days. And after Killshot came out, we’d all just listen to both songs back to back over and over because we liked the beat and the vibe of Rap Devil more but we liked the skill and bars of Killshot more, so we’d just play them both. It’s to the point where even to this day my best friend will occasionally just throw out an “OH MY GOD, RONNIE” completely out of context just because of this stupid song, likewise with us saying “his fuckin beard’s weird” when someone’s being rude to us lmao I have such good memories of both songs
Omg. This was hilarious 😆. MGK was taunting Eminem and he made him put the mic down. He was telling Eminem that we’re both white rappers and u should be mentoring me. Newsflash: That means nothing to Em. He gets along with ppl bc he does and will call out anyone.
The bar with em calling mgk a satanist went a bit unnoticed. The diddy connection. I dont think most people comprehend how depraved people in the industry are.
Em won this battle way back in like 07-08 when he made Syllables "It is not about lyrics anymore It's about a hot beat and a catchy hook." The only people that thought Kelly won are people who don't listen to lyrics.
The best thing MGK ever did was give us the Rap Devil beat, because it became "Diss MGK season" and the spread of time before Killshot dropped, every Stan and a half used that same beat to diss MGK _on behalf_ of Em. It was equal parts corny and pretty funny to see go down. And now you've got to listen to the Nick Cannon Trilogy of disses.
Everyone acts like the real bomb that Eminem dropped on "Not Alike" feat. Royce da 5'9 off his Kamikaze project doesn't exist.... He murdered MGK on it and anyone who disagrees can argue with they momma! 😂 And yes he brought up Drake and Cole doing the spiderman meme in the video to Tobey on Death of Slim Shady.
You should actually listen to eminems death of slim shady album (in order), it'll suprise you. Because he pretty much agrees with what you're saying, he confronts slim shady on his bs, and basically says he's moved on and matured from those days.
I think a good number of those MGK views are people who didn't realize a beef had been started but they were Eminem fans, heard Kill Shot and went to MGK's page to peep the scene of the slaughter.
Yo Derapy, thanks for everything you do man. ive been going through some rough shit lately and your vids are really helping out. Love you man, keep up the sick ass work
In this recent big three conversation I was nervous that Marshall would jump in. On some 'hey guys don't forget about me' lol, but glad he didn't. That would have been a crazy ssa battle 😳 😮😅
Imo when em is at his peak he is actually a top 3 rapper all time easy, but he just has a rollercoaster of a discography. Too many lows among those peaks unfortunately
And it wasn’t just that he said something rude about Eminem’s daughter. He also hopped on a track with Tech N9ne and dis Eminem on it just to get attention.
Iirc it was more that he did it behind Tech N9ne's back, cause N9ne only found out it was a dies after the song was already out, hence the "no subs, Kelly" line in Not Alike
In regards to mgk’s one good diss, I absolutely agree but I also think if you listen to em’s new album he’d also agree. I quite liked the new album it took me by surprise, seems like he is actually trying to grow and confront why slim shady existed in the first place.
Listening to this while working and making faces because of mjk lines and then entering eminem fan mode spitting killshot had my coworkers questioning my sanity
16:02 honestly I’ve never understood the “who’s talking about Em” when he comes up every time and everyone says “no one talks about him…” WHILE TALKING ABOUT HIM and this is like every music podcast, media doesn’t talk about Em but the people do that’s why Eminem videos get so many views
“Give jade a kiss” (jadakiss) Hailey Jade mathers. I thought that was a smooth line. But the reason why they didn’t mention em in the big 3 is cause he’s like ascended that. He’s in a space in hip hop where there’s nothing left to prove and he’s letting the next generation lead. I think drake has a solid relationship with em cause drake performed for Hailey’s 16th birthday or sum👀 and Kendrick and em are family under Dre so it was mutual respect for him
I too never bothered to look into this beef, so I appreciate you covering it, even though i voted for something else. Also, just wanted to gently point out that its Jimmy Iovine with an "i" 😶🌫️
I love watching eminem breakdowns and i hope you make more in the future. I really recommend looking into his album relapse which i think is his best album not only lyrically but beat wise and technicallity wise. I'd like to see your reaction to that album or just any eminem album but that's just my favourite. Love the show and i hope you get to see this comment because it would mean a lot ❤
There's an interview of Eminem talking about the beef and I'm pretty sure he says that MGK was completely off his radar before which is why he calls him out on Kamikaze
I swear Killshot had more views than it does. Eminem washed him Not Alike that alone and Rap Devil wasn't close. The crazy thing about the MGK thing is he has a daughter. Not Alike was MGKs fault for dissing him on a Tech N9ne feature
My favourite part of this is me thinking mgk is the kind of guy that searches for his name daily and this just popping up randomly on his search and he watches it hopefully....
Just noticed the use of the 6:16 in LA backing track in the background of the first part of the video when you're giving commentary and context. Chef's kiss. Edit: Not Like Us later on!!
17:30 ehhhhh the whole slim shady thing is the fans. He drops revival which had maybe a single song with an alter ego like feel (framed) and people hated the album.
Not calling TDOSS a masterpiece it’s far from it but the cancel thing was more so apart of the story of the album. I think he knows he won’t be cancelled. That truly awful video of that lady rapping about him kinda shows how unhinged some of his “Stans” are.
As an Eminem fan, sometimes every blue moon the instagram algorithm throws an MGK glazer on my reels feed related to this song. The main takeaway is: 1. Holy shit he actually has a fan base 2. Holy shit he actually has fans that are confident enough to make fan pages for him 3. Holy shit there’s actually still people who are witnessing his career go to absolute shit after only being revived by shitty Green Day/Avril Lavigne/MCR ripoff music and then dying again who think he WON 💀
Thank you for covering this. Eminem’s prime run was early aughts just like Lil Wayne and Kanye. That was the time to name him in the Big Three convo. Because of that, I probably wasn’t listening to Eminem as much in 2018. Though I heard of the beef, I never heard the songs or knew the back story till now. I appreciate the review!
This beef was my first introduction to rap beef so I was genuinely taken aback by how scathing killshot was. I think it’s a genuine contender for best diss track of all time or at least top 5. I think it also proves that Eminem skill wise hasn’t lost a single step and just needs something to really hone in on and be passionate about to make great music.
Many of og rappers too lol he respect and always pay homage to the pioneers but if someone talk shit about him he also not shy away from speaking his mind tho.
When did he beef with transgenders lmao. His child is trans. If youre talking about the new album, shady makes fun of trans people whilst marshall later says "so what if men wanna wear lipstick and women's underwear, who cares the shit is their business"

Yeah most of were just going against the old heads. It really was a unc vs neph situation.
@@Derapynot really
@@skwayne_This is when I realize I’m unc-aged 😭😭
Look…nobody mentions Eminem because people HAVE mentioned Eminem, then they had to deal with that whole thing.
Eminem really told mgk to “die mf” 😭💀 bro a whole menace
Eminem hate is forced
Well, he did say he had to give MGK a career before he could destroy it. So, it makes sense it got all the views. Gotta come back and listen to the rest later but cannot wait to listen to it.
You’re gonna like it
This is a perfect case in point for why you should never diss a lyrisist. *EVER*.
Guys Tay Keith and I went to the same college at the same time
We did not grow up together in Memphis lmao
"I don't listen to Eminem..."
"Check out my favorite track from this Em album!"
Drake used that same "in the scope" interscope line. Low effort bar
so basic lol
Game used that rhyme back in 2011 .
@@Manuel_Chinaski coincidentally on a track with a Kendrick feature 😂
Not Eminem saying what he daid about Diddy putting out the hit that got Pac kiled. In 2018. Knowing everyone was about to hear it.
LMFAO
KILLSHOT has aged like fine wine, one of the best in recent history
Facts
Maybe you should have said you're looking forward to what notebook LM would impressively create to say about it
No it didn't lol MGK's L only lasted a year and a half and has been massive since. MGK lost the battle, but won the war lets keep it a buck
As a current 21 year old, there is no possible world where I would think it appropriate to think let alone call a 16 year old “hot” under any circumstances
Great video. That song needs to be replayed whenever we forget how good Em is.
Jeffrey Atkins 😂😂😂
@@ifakerr8369 Hey put some respect that's the next Tupac you're talking about 🤣🤣
Derapy playing Quadeca as the outro is goated 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Dude I love quad
@ Hell yeah. I appreciate that the track you used was from Voice Memos haha. 🔥 Do you have a favorite track from that album, or just a fav Quad track in general?
Current Em gets a lot of shit but he’s honestly at the top of his game when it comes to technical skill
10:37 nah bruh this has the Reverse effect of the Dear Adonis part in Meet the Grams X_X
i always forget that machine gun kelly existed what an uninteresting figure in rap history
Love that I get to listen to this while I design dresses. Thanks Derapy!
Anytime 🙂
I’m so glad you covered this!
So glad you’re here!
“I mean at least one and a half of those things” AHHH😂😂 we see what ya did there
Omg. This was hilarious 😆. MGK was taunting Eminem and he made him put the mic down. He was telling Eminem that we’re both white rappers and u should be mentoring me. Newsflash: That means nothing to Em. He gets along with ppl bc he does and will call out anyone.
Except when he didn t
In this case age argument îs like me trying call Bill gates old 😂
Em made dude dropped his rap career for some time and go emo😂
Not to mention Em don't fuck with Diddy
Oh hey! I remember voting for this in a poll once xD Hell yeah!! 🤘
The bar with em calling mgk a satanist went a bit unnoticed. The diddy connection. I dont think most people comprehend how depraved people in the industry are.
Thanks for covering this broski!!

Been waiting for this!! Oh we eating good today 🎉
Would love more rap beef retrospectives ❤

So glad this is finally out🔥
Em won this battle way back in like 07-08 when he made Syllables "It is not about lyrics anymore
It's about a hot beat and a catchy hook." The only people that thought Kelly won are people who don't listen to lyrics.
0:30 I would like to add that Eminem’s name is attached to his song so it’s not surprising that it’s that high as em has fans worldwide.
And yes he brought up Drake and Cole doing the spiderman meme in the video to Tobey on Death of Slim Shady.
Watched the whole video and loved it then the Quadeca outro solidified a sub!
Thank you!
You should actually listen to eminems death of slim shady album (in order), it'll suprise you. Because he pretty much agrees with what you're saying, he confronts slim shady on his bs, and basically says he's moved on and matured from those days.
Been waiting for this one, king
I think a good number of those MGK views are people who didn't realize a beef had been started but they were Eminem fans, heard Kill Shot and went to MGK's page to peep the scene of the slaughter.
Em yelling "DIE" is a reference to a diss track he made against Ja Rule 🤣

Yeah Go to sleep wit Obie and DMX
Yo Derapy, thanks for everything you do man. ive been going through some rough shit lately and your vids are really helping out. Love you man, keep up the sick ass work
❤
In this recent big three conversation I was nervous that Marshall would jump in. On some 'hey guys don't forget about me' lol, but glad he didn't. That would have been a crazy ssa battle 😳 😮😅
Kenny and Em seem to have too much mutual respect to fight
Imo when em is at his peak he is actually a top 3 rapper all time easy, but he just has a rollercoaster of a discography. Too many lows among those peaks unfortunately
Some people consider good albums by Em bad albums because they compare him to himself.
Mgk got absolutely DESTROYED
And it wasn’t just that he said something rude about Eminem’s daughter. He also hopped on a track with Tech N9ne and dis Eminem on it just to get attention.
Ahhhhhh makes sense
Iirc it was more that he did it behind Tech N9ne's back, cause N9ne only found out it was a dies after the song was already out, hence the "no subs, Kelly" line in Not Alike
In regards to mgk’s one good diss, I absolutely agree but I also think if you listen to em’s new album he’d also agree. I quite liked the new album it took me by surprise, seems like he is actually trying to grow and confront why slim shady existed in the first place.
Interesting. I’ll have to give it a relisten!
It's fire but the back half might have you literally in tears 😂
Mgk got killed so bad that he switched genres.
tbh this is my favorite kind of content you put out. enjoyed the video, best to you, keep informed and stay safe 🤟
❤️
I WAS TALKING TO THE MAN SITTING ON MY LEFT SHOULDER!!!!
One of my favorite songs ever. My wife loves it too hahaha
Listening to this while working and making faces because of mjk lines and then entering eminem fan mode spitting killshot had my coworkers questioning my sanity
😂😂
You have slowly become one of favorite RUclips channels and that says a lot for me. I’ve been here since RUclips launched. Lol
Thank you! Preciate this!
You right
“Give jade a kiss” (jadakiss) Hailey Jade mathers.
Crazy thing is mgk is always going on about his daughter and how protective he is of her... yet he can't understand.
Derek the Rap Beef analyst , great video , we need more of this , and more of the Derek the Lyft Driver
I love how with one line Eminem dissed M.G.K. and gave props with "You want to attack me,use a techa-Nina!"
Dude pls listen to Em’s albums last decade. Some of them are absolutely his best work in my opinion, especially MMLP2
I swear Killshot had more views than it does.
Eminem washed him Not Alike that alone and Rap Devil wasn't close.
The crazy thing about the MGK thing is he has a daughter.
Not Alike was MGKs fault for dissing him on a Tech N9ne feature
You try to be the old you so bad you Stan yourself. I think was the line that got Em to respond.
🗣📢WEIRD BEARD 🧔♂🤷♂YELLIN' @ THE MIC 🗣🎤
Not Alike was the bait, and it blew MGK away (no pun intended). Marshall is built different.
Bruh, the same people who think that Machine Gun Kelly had the better diss are the same lame ass people who thought Drake diddler won the beef.
The main takeaway is:
1. Holy shit he actually has a fan base
2. Holy shit he actually has fans that are confident enough to make fan pages for him
3. Holy shit there’s actually still people who are witnessing his career go to absolute shit after only being revived by shitty Green Day/Avril Lavigne/MCR ripoff music and then dying again who think he WON
💀
Em ain’t in the big three discussion because he’s so far out of their league.
The fact that MGK thought he could get away with making inappropriate comments on his daughter is wild.
Like a friend and I said "if Slim Shady is like Robin, then Eminem is Batman. Bro has contingencies for everyone."
What's crazy was the Venom was released one week after Killshot and it did not damage Eminem's cred in the slightest
I think it also proves that Eminem skill wise hasn’t lost a single step and just needs something to really hone in on and be passionate about to make great music.
but its kinda weird Em only beefs with pop stars, trans people, the ghost of Christopher Reeves and Benzino
😂😂😂
Many of og rappers too lol he respect and always pay homage to the pioneers but if someone talk shit about him he also not shy away from speaking his mind tho.
He only beefs with people that got a problem with him. The greats respect him and he respects them.
When did he beef with transgenders lmao. His child is trans. If youre talking about the new album, shady makes fun of trans people whilst marshall later says "so what if men wanna wear lipstick and women's underwear, who cares the shit is their business"
Em clowned MGKs flow twice😂.
In Kamikaze and Killshot...😢😂😂
Em remembered MGK was conflicted
