When I asked you a few months ago for golf clothes, I couldn't have imagined all you would come up with but this is packed with ideas and fabric notes. Thanks a million for doing this video. Wardrobe consultants say, "dress for the live you have," but for retirees that is not easy. Golf clothes have left out full busted women and anyone it seems in the cute stuff above a size 12 bottom. If I find something, I still have to make the other piece/ top or bottom because it is almost impossible to coordinate pieces. What an exceptional resource for anyone wanting to sew active wear. I am really appreciative. You are the best sewing inspiration.
Just a shout out for Discovery Fabrics in BC Canada for AMAZING athletic and outdoor fabrics! They are the fabric company giving the Cashmerette club members a discount in June. (Not sure if all access only). They are beloved in BC across Canada and around the world too. I am lucky enough to live close by.
Oh Whitney, I have been pestering you with this special request for so long. You have made my day and this LPGA fan is very happy ! Thank you so much ! ⛳
I’m not really into golf but I loved the jackets for walking. Hubby has played golf for many years. He will be leaving our house tomorrow morning 4:30 a.m. to get those golf carts lined up for the tournaments and walk ons. Plus getting baskets of balls ready.
Fun fact: a Titleist ad came up after your video. I'm not a golfer but am working up a cargo skirt (Simplicity R12088/S9924) that has really great pocket options. I'd like to make it in a stretch woven for my sister, who is a golfer. I already have the Frankie polo. I think a set would make a very nice ensemble for anyone's casual wear! Thanks for the video! - Kelly
Thank you Whitney, this was exactly what I was waiting for to get some Golf and Sew inspo. I make the Sinclair Patterns Skye Skort (quick and easy) and my go to Pants/Shorts are the Love Notions Sabrina Slims in Ponte. I try to shy away from zips and plackets but need to push on and keep trying 🏌
Love the idea of the Frankie polo. I made a golf dress from the laundry day tee, I removed some of the flare and cut to my length also added 2 patch pockets. I also plan to make 2 vintage plus fours pattern, 1 in a summer weight check and a cooler weather tweed.
Super helpful video, I haven't been so inspired in a long time. Gonna start planning a little capsule for my active life. Boating, hiking, biking, in summer are my activities and having a skort when getting off a boat works great!
I think I already told you, but I love the new Cashmerette Skort. I made it up. The shorts underneath are definitely my new favorite. The skirt is awesome, too, but with me, I need to tweak the waistband on the back. I'm not really sure how to do it. I have a short area in the back between the waist and the curve of my round butt and it bunches up there. I'm not sure if I need to do some kind of adjustment or not use the wide elastic like the pattern is written for. I hope you try it so I can see your version!
All of these items are such great suggestions. Thank you. I miss that you didn’t do a sew along or just demonstrate sewing any of these. I miss those video a bunch.
Thank you, Whitney! I've used the Greenstyle skort patterns for golf and get compliments every time I wear them. Another great pattern for a golf skort is Jalie 2796 (multi-sport skort). The pockets are in the side panels, which give you opportunity to use up fabric scraps. :)
I don't golf but these clothes and fabrics work for "real life" as well - I have a lot of polo tops in these kinds of fabrics from Izod and the PGA store (my husband golfs so we're in those stores a fair amount) and the moisture-wicking stuff is great for humid summer weather for any purpose - supermarket, gardening, etc. - the collared polos with shorts are a classic summer look that is as comfortable as a t-shirt but looks a little bit elevated, as they say.
I just bought the gardening skort wiith a waist bag from Duluth Trading Co but the darling bumble bee Breezeshooter shirt was sold out. This is for golf...I don't garden...chuckled when you said "gardening." ;-)
@@lindamcgregor6585 Once you get that gardening skort out of the store, they lose all control over where you wear it 😄! The only grass my husband is interested in is on a golf course so I know how that works!
I love this video, I am going to try the Frankie, I bought Simplicity 9328 in a pattern sale and I have made the golf dress with a pair of biker shorts from the tinley love notions pattern. Great collar option and a very quick sew. I especially like the darts and back seaming for a flattering fit.
2 questions. First, what polo pattern & fabric would you use to make a long sleeve layering polo for a cool weather travel module? I will want to be able to layer it under my pullover sweaters. Second, love you Olympia! Does it layer well with your Metra blazer? I am also planning a dress and jacket in a dark ponte that I can wear together for serious events in cool weather or break apart and use the Metra with other outfits. I know I want the Metra, I waffle all over with the dress. Thanks. Your non-golfer friend who appreciates your focused videos.❤
I think for a long sleeved polo I would use either the Style Arc Jess or the Love Notions Frankie. For a layering piece in colder weather, I would look at a wool knit jersey. A merino jersey would be amazing! Another option would be a lovely cotton/spandex jersey or even a cotton knit pique (a bit harder to find). As far as my Olympia, it layers beautifully with my Metra blazers! It's a really lovely dress pattern!
I bike but need to figure out how to install the back pocket with a zip. I usually wear long sleeve to keep the sun off so i need really light weight fabric. Another sewing nightmare.
Sinclair patterns Brooke polo is good. Also 5 out 4 patterns has the Shenanigans skort with a super cute ruffle hem. Love the Pace and Rally from Greenstyle as well as a couple of their 1/4 zip tops. I would love a raglan sleeve polo pattern so please let me know if you know of one.
Enjoyed this video. Watching you in the Olympia I was wondering how to hack a polo-style collar, not neckline, on to it, to resemble DVF wrap dress designs with collars.
what fabric do you like to make your Sunday Romper with? I have the pattern and have been wanting to make it, but a little nervous about the amount of structure I'd want. Not show to many bumps, lol.

Discovery Fabrics has a great selection!

You can easily interchange golf for any activity you like--Sounds like he's REALLY in to the golf!

Once you get the first one under your belt, the following ones will be easy-peasy!

I love that you hacked the laundry day tee into a golf dress! Well done!
I thought I'd tell you that I made the Jalie Joceyln Dress and I LOVE it. The fit was great. Everything about it turned out!
Wonderful to hear!

There's a wealth of sew alongs on the channel for reference! And a whole talk about sewing with active wear fabric

Great tip!!
Love your new intro music. It's relaxing for my sometimes anxious mind.
❤😂👗👚
Glad you enjoy it!
I really like the polo shirt! I made a Tinley skort out of a stretch denim.
I bet that turned out cute!

Really, these clothes are great for keeping cool outside no matter what activity you are doing!
Have you ever tried 5oo4 patterns (5 out of 4)? She has a couple cute skorts. The Katie skort is cute, also the Adventure skort is cute.
I'll have to check them out!
Great Video. I love all the fabric suggestions and tips.
I'm glad it was helpful!

Great stuff Whitney!
Thank you!!
The GreenStyle Veltori Top works great as a golf top. I like that it's not the typical polo collar golf top. I've made 2 using swim/athletic knit.
Great tip!
So excited to see this video.I’m a snow bird and golf all year long. I’ll be trying these patterns for sure.

OOh! Those are good recommendations! Thank you!
McCalls 8481 is a raglan polo shirt and knit skort pattern I bought for tennis, but it can work for golf too

Oh that would be so beautiful!
What is the fabric that your Olympia dress is sewn out of?
I was wondering the same thing. It looks like maybe a rayon batik from sew batik? The blur really looks great on you.
I was wondering the same thing. It looks like maybe a rayon batik from Sew Batik? The blue looks really nice on you. Vibrant comes to mind!
This was a fun, different video. You look good really good in that olympia. I love that pattern for myself.
Cute dress Whitney!
It was from Sew Batik! Here's a video about the fabric ruclips.net/video/JQzgE1hyIX8/видео.html
