He made a super nice treehouse that basically had a clean view into everyone on that corners backyards, so people freaked out. He eventually had to go to court for this fkin thing, and put a big painted sign on his front lawn talking about "injustice" and how he would appreciate it if you came to the court to support him. Well that's where parents (and people in general) mess up. You don't do the whole thing for them. You must incorporate them in, otherwise they won't feel the effort and pride of what they're getting. Part of the magic is making it yours, and having a say in the end result. Handing stuff over just doesn't have the charm.
The thing Poob said about KFC is sort of true, though it was Japan. The store manager of the first KFC in Japan said that Westerners ate KFC as a Christmas tradition for marketing, which led to KFC becoming huge in Japan since the 70s. The whole thing happened because the sales were so low the store manager had to sleep in the KFC.
It's not that far off, it just isn't nearly as big as it was made to be. People bring store bought stuff all of the time, and it isn't a bad thing. Though it usually isn't a major focus, but no one complains about having more options to throw on the plate. For them, it's the feeling that's important, and that's all that matters.
I love the gradual aging of the guys in the podcast. Talking about games/drama to slowly talking about adult related stuff like the grass segment feels relatable.
Poob absolutely PREACHING IT on oversimplification. I get sometimes you wanna remove an unnecessary mechanic. Some of them should go. But so many series I loved have stripped out core mechanics and ended up worse for it
It's funny about criticizing previous owners landscaping choices. The old man before me planted a palm tree next to the house so when I bought the place we got it cut out and the stump removed. He planted right on top of the sprinkler pipes and the solenoids for the different stations and it all got fuck up. Like the root ball of the palm had pipes running through it. Huge pain in the ass.
