Don’t stop- just ask. I talk about this a little more in the linked video on this short, but there are a number of reasons why it’s more considerate to plan with the teacher ahead of time instead of sending in treats unannounced. But for this short, the point is it’s not actually a gift for the teacher, it’s a gift for students.
Teacher here. Don’t stop. I love when parents or kids bring in something for special days. It warms my heart thinking about parents taking the time to go to the store to purchase items and caring enough to share with everyone. Treats can always be distributed at the end of the day. No problem.
Exactly! Not everyone thinks the way this “teacher” thinks of “Victoria secret”. The things she says are subjective to her, not all teachers. I’ve done stuff for my daughter’s teachers, and some even told me no one ever did special things for them and they appreciated anything and everything.
I personnally appreciate whatever a parent wants to give. I often feel uncomfortable when the parent paid a lot of money for it. A small gesture or a sincere thank you at the door is enough. I'm too old and too married for avances though. Anything sexual is inappropiate.
See, this is everything. A couple of my daughter’s teachers had told me that they never got anything from a parent and they appreciated everything I did for them. I didn’t only spoil them for teacher appreciation, but on random days, with some coffee, bagels, muffins, etc. Or the list you get from pta that teachers fill out. I appreciate all teachers and staff because you never know when a conversation or an incident will shape or change the direction for any kid for the better. Plus, teachers and staff are literally our child’s parents for the same amount of time we spend during the week with them. Because a third is them sleeping, while teachers spend almost one third with them🫶🏻 I tell some of the teachers I trust, in telling them they have permission to give her detention, take away her lunch, take away privileges, and wink wink i tell some I say they have permission to pull her by her ears or throw the chancla at her if she ever disrespects them/talks back, staff, or anyone at that, etc. LOL They all laugh and say she’s a good kid. I just know you guys deal with so much and kids nowadays have parents defend them even when they are wrong and disrespectful. I didn’t grow up that way, and try my best to instill those values to my daughter. As a parent who’s volunteered a lot, you are very much appreciated🫶🏻
Our whole class's gift for our teacher in teacher's day is notes saying how she's the greatest teacher and we bought so many cards voting for our teacher to win "best teacher award" our section often wins. And I got my teacher a purse at our Christmas party.
Great question! This video is a parody, but I actually have a whole playlist of teacher gift guides on my channel 😃 When in doubt always yes to a gift card! Not sure your age or what country you live in…Wine is tricky if you live in the USA because it’s illegal on public school grounds or for the child to possess it (even if it’s a gift). But otherwise just have the parent ask what kind of wine they like. It can feel awkward, but we’d rather be asked than have you waste money.

The second one we always have snacks at the end of the day if it is someone’s birthday or something, so our teachers don’t care and they don’t have to handle a sugar rush.
When my class gives gifts to teachers, it’s usually at the end of the year since we won’t have some of them next year(everyone gets a gift tho). We usually give them a bottle or two of wine, a class yearbook some of the girls made and then just some random things like a bag of popcorn.

I don't mind class treats too much. I just let them sit until dismissal and then pass them out as the kids go out the door. Thankfully we are still in No-Parents-In-The-Classroom-Unless-Volunteering mode, so they can't show up unannounced with boxes of sugar. Best rule ever, hope it never goes away! What I can't handle is parents who send treats and there isn't enough for all children to have one. You would THINK this would never happen, but it's amazing how many times we've been sent a pizza cut into too few slices, or packs of cupcakes where the packs are different flavors (maybe good intentions, but I've never had this happen without at least one kid crying as a result), not enough birthday goodie bags, etc. If we get goodie bags, I spend part of my lunch doing a count. Too many bad experiences. Once a parent sent 20 Trader Joe's advent calendars with chocolates. Would have been an awesome holiday gift, but we had 22 kids... thankfully some were absent that day!!! I almost had a panic attack when I saw those things and didn't breathe a sigh of relief until after morning recess when it was finally safe to assume those kids were truly absent and not just late (we have a chronic tardy problem at our school). Coming in at a close second, parents who send treats that require cups, plates, spoons, etc., but don't send those things. Really? 🤨
I was thinking just chocolate, coffee, and a thank you picture im going to paint. I looked up maybe something else to buy her, and i never even thought about those ideas.
That’s really thoughtful to paint a picture! I’m assuming you’re a student- when I taught fifth grade I had a really talented artist in my class, 11 years later I still have a sketch he drew of me hanging in my office 🩷
That handmade painting is a wonderful idea. Before giving chocolate and coffee, it should be considered whether or not they enjoy consuming those things. When I was a teacher, I received SO MANY gift cards for coffee, and I can't drink it. So I would have much rather have something handmade like a painting or note instead of them paying for something I couldn't use.
Love that you asked around first- that’s cute and thoughtful. It’s a tricky balance because teachers have so many things going on. Actions like that go a long way 😄
I think I'll speak for all teachers and custom cups isn't it lol. I did that and realized I heard the teacher talk about all the cups she's given after I became a teachers aide lol. Now I get my kids teachers healthy snacks and gift cards

I use to always let parents know that any treats should not include anything from the common allergy list and that they will be given in the final hour of the kids time with me. So have fun with your hyperactive kid! 😂
I had no expectation that as a teacher I would receive a gift. I worked in a poor area and some whose parents couldn’t afford were really upset. I’ve known entitled teachers who belittled gifts. Okay, so where as my first knee jerk response was "she needs to be grateful" that isn't exactly fair. The first one is completely reasonable. That could send the wrong message and embarrass an individual. I can change the bag if I decide to get the perfume or lotion as a gift for anyone. The second, where I don't believe in her reasoning here, I would check with the teacher before bringing something for the entire class anyway. What if a pizza party or cupcakes were already being brought, not to mention all of the allergies kids seem to have these days. I would want to bring something that everyone could enjoy. And the last one nobody should argue with. It is inappropriate and shouldn't be happening.
Yeah, you might not want sugar for your class, but you could do it always at the end of the day! It’s perfectly fine because nothing will interrupt your class cause it’s time to leave anyway.
I appreciate your opinion, however I would like to point out that that is not always an option depending on the school and policies. At one school I've worked at, aside from designated "celebrations" that were school-wide, no treats could be given out anywhere aside from the cafeteria. That means the treat has to happen at lunch.
@@desslou very true! But you realize there are different schools! Like some private** schools that are don’t have many policies or some public schools they don’t have many policies, so some students cannot bring loot bags they usually bring some snacks like candy that they could eat in the car or at home for a policy.
@@desslou they might be talking about the school that they work at and not other different schools because some schools can allow treats but I’m just stating that many schools can allow them so I also know that some can’t so please don’t reason that put as she already mentioned it

Fr😂
my school doesn’t allow it because nut allergies
When i was little i would just get my teachers spec s gift cards
🩷🩷🩷 glad you got it
I just got donuts for the class 😅😂
Just don’t be pressured to buy teachers gifts……..problem solved.
@@desslou they might be talking about the school that they work at and not other different schools because some schools can allow treats but I’m just stating that many schools can allow them so I also know that some can’t so please don’t reason that put as she already mentioned it
it depends on the school! I used to get donuts for my 4th grade class without asking my teacher
Your hip is very cool
I give my teachers usually a basket of goodies, like my teachers liked dr. Pepper so I put that school supplies paper towels wipes tissues etc and maybe something extra
A gifts a gift appreciate the gesture 😅
I'll just buy nothing - PROBLEM SOLVED 👍🏻
