Publix came up with a good solution. They use a thicker acrylic or lean and they stand it a dado in a flat 1x6. The acrylic is 1 foot by two feet tall or 2.5 feet. At the pharmacy they stand 2 side by side. Attractive and it works.
One of our local grocery stores put barriers like this in place a couple weeks ago. Only complaint I've heard is it makes it hard to communicate with customers. Then again, maybe ya don't wanna talk to them anyway lol
bah - Communication with the customer is just a formality anyway :). I think both customers and employees now appreciate the gravity of the situation the world is facing and will understand precautionary measures like this. I'm all for it.
I been hearing that a lot of stores are putting them in everybody has their opinion but like some say there's a greater chance when you check somebody out of the grocery store or any store that you can pick it up off of handling what they picked up and touched but I understand the extra cautions
It needs to be vertical where people's faces are, and also have a gap underneath to pass money to the checker. OK, the gap may be optional, but the shield needs to be face height.
I would recommend building a base much like this privacy screen has. Message me back if you have questions. www.gardengatemagazine.com/articles/projects/all/diy-privacy-screen/
Thumb down at 5:13. You didn't know what you were doing. The edges of plexi sheet need to be sanded down. The edges are sharp after cut. Funny intro. Thumbs up.
I like it. I would like to see a video to making a barrier to divide one’s home. I am living with a highly susceptible person and while I’m working at my “essential job”, we need to live in different parts of the house.
I wish I could help with such a build, as it's certainly do-able. I'd probably use a thick mil plastic and make a temporary door, separating off that section of the house. in the meantime, good luck with it! stay safe, wash hands, etc. :)

Great demonstration of how the germs spread
haha ... direct hit!
Thanks dude. Getting ideas to make a couple for my business
Oh good. I think it's worth it for a few reasons, one being that your customers will feel safer and more cared for. Good luck!

I've seem images of the checkers in plastic bags/bubbles ... it's gotten pretty crazy and extreme. We'll probably see all self-service checkouts soon

Things are changing fast ... I've even seem pics of plastic hung down over the checker ... crazy times
A good way to help the community, thank you!
Let's hope to
Nice work

Way to help out buddy!
Hang in there, man
Thank you so much.
You bet! Good luck with it!
dumb question - can I do bigger dimensions, with larger sheet of acrylic? Could you share with me the plans? Thank you!!
yes, you can do whatever size acrylic you can find. It's very stiff and will support its weight. Just size the structure to your acrylic.
Have you costed vinyl sheeting from the fabric store in or on a frame instead of acrylic?
The cheapest way to do it by far is to use clear plastic sheeting ... it's just harder to clean. You can buy it at a hardware store
gracias
de nada
👍👍👍👌☺️
thanks buddy
