Being from here in MI, I grew up living about 30 minutes from Iggy, who is from Ypsilanti, I was in Detroit. I was honored o be part of the punk movement. People who hate it can’t appreciate the art of simplicity. And the lyrics were phenomenal. Saw the Ramones several times in small venues and they are still today one of my favorite bands of all time. The whole scene was total rebellion from society, it’s values and the boring rock and disco of that period.
Iggy Iggy stooges stooges you know what the freaking Ramones are the Ramones man I saw them in Chicago for the live in New York tour they kicked ass Love The Ramones
Funny how “The Band” had a good sound man on the board for the filming of “The Last Waltz” at the Winterland, I have good reason to believe the sound was purposefully gaffed up under order of Malcolm McClaren during the 1/14/1978 Sex Pistols concert, ultimately leading to that being the last gig they would do with Sid, and would not play live again until the 1996 “Filthy Lucre Live” reunion with Glen. What’s interesting is the sound, overall was better, but the sound guys on the board were not on top of their game, had to fiddle around with Johnny’s levels, Dee Dee’s mic was on and off, and Joey’s vocals went out a few times....... wonder what they were up to........hmmmmmm.... 🤔 lmao!
Nigel -- he has lymphoma and CJ said how on that tour they were traveling too much and he was very ill offstage but he fought really hard to play on stage.
I was at this show and still have my t-shirt (still fits too!). Great video that only hints at how loud and how much energy there was in the hall. Like an injection of adrenaline straight to the heart. Without question the most exhausted I've ever been after a show and it lasted about an hour. Greatest band ever, ever, ever.
So you were at this show, really? Wow! Sure you remember that unforgetable date very well ✌ Always wondered how does it feel have been present at this show on that day and now watch them only on videos 'cause they are all gone (The original formation)

They were untouchable as a live band back then, an insane hyperspeed rush of pure power pop! I've never thought of The Ramones as "punks", just pure pop music the way it should be played! PS. I see lotsa of people wearing the shirts now. When they would come to los angeles maybe 1000 people would show up. probably less. I saw C.J. Ramone and his band last weekend in Toronto at the Dance Cave. It's not the same as seeing the real thing, but I was just so happy to hear credible live versions of all those great songs again. And the set list was varied-- we missed the 9 pm start (!) but we came in to C.J. playing "The KKK Took My Baby Away". Didn't expect to hear that. They even threw in a cover of Motorhead's tribute song "R.A.M.O.N.E.S." Not a bad night out for an aging old fart. Too olod to mosh; not too old to jump up and down like a blissful idiot.

Wild to think the Sex Pistols played their final gig here that Jan 14th of 1978 after their unnecessarily poorly scheduled first and only US tour and the band self destructed and Malcom sunk the ship etc etc. yet the Ramones tour of the UK in 1976 or so is what planted the seeds for that scene (aside from Stooges New York Dolls and etc etc ) so it’s a wild historic capsule, and a damn fine rock show too!
