- When it comes to martial arts movies, it can be tough to blend fighting with comedy. Jackie Chan is considered a master at this. But other martial arts stars of the 70s, 80s and 90s aren’t primarily known for their humor. We’re talking about Bruce Lee, Jean Claude Van Damme, Steven Seagal and others. At the same time, the 80s demonstrated an appetite for the martial arts centered, family friendly film (see Karate Kid). So in 1993, we were BLESSED with the amazingly titled “Surf Ninjas”, starring Ernie Reyes Jr. Get your surf wax…

Surf Ninjas - Everything You Didn’t Know | SYFY WIRE
I have no shame in saying I own this on DVD. I loved Surf Ninjas as a kid so much, and as an adult it brings nostalgia and hilarity (like the Street Fighter movie).
dude same. both street fighter and surf ninjas wear some of my favorite movies
The bad ninjas here wear the same uniforms that are in the StreetFighter movie 😉
I wish I had this film on digital.
Surf Ninjas and 3 Ninjas were child favorites of mine.
You forgot about the guy whom keep falling down that long set of staircase
News flash! 😬
YESSSSS. I thought they would put that in. That part was hilarious when i watched it lol
Lol yas!!!!
Another highly remembered part
SYFY WIRE ...your side lost!”
- Zatch: Something not even money can buy: the knives of Kwantsu.
- Iggy: Knives? Oh yeah, seriously. That's something money can't buy. Knives. Once I went to a cutlery store and said "Here's $100,000, can I buy a knife?". They said, "No. Money can't buy knives". Gee, I guess that's why you hardly ever see any of 'em around.
Seriously...if you dont want chives, i wont put em in.
@@Kempstertainment But I want chives, bro.
That speech was gold.😂😂😂
"On the fifth day of expedition they came across giant rubber tree plant. They couldn't cut the plant because money can't buy knives. Walking around the plant they continued the on shores of patusan"
@@tagreene06 " Is there no way we can shut this chattering moneky up?" "I'd cut him but I don't have a knife"
Also, best line: Zatch grabs the skateboard and yells, "Skateboard, ahh!"
Meh the best line in the film hands down is "Who were the quimbies in the camouflage pajamas?"
Saw it in theaters, had it on VHS, and bought it on DVD about 10 years ago. Such a good piece of childhood nostalgia
YES!
This movie is part of my childhood and brings back some awesome memories indeed ☺
Being born in 86 the 90's was a excellent time to grow up 👍
Sadly after this movie Ernie Reyes Jr. never got more bigger roles in movies till the Rundown with the Rock 😡
He should have been a martial arts action star during the 90's & early 00's while he was in his ultimate prime.
I'm surprised he wasn't cast in the original Power Rangers, Xena, Hercules etc.
That's just my opinion 👍
Greetings and one love from the Caribbean ✌😀
Facts was also born in 86
@@brandontrammel4581
86 is the year of the Tiger 🐯💪
3rd on 86. Couldnt resist the VHS box as a kid in the video store.
Could agree more with all of this ✌
I was born 86 too. I got to find this movie and make my kids watch this.

Brooo I watched this movie hunders of times still watch it till this day born in 1996
I use to watch this movie every time it came in cable whether it was Cinemax or Showtime.
I loved the fight scenes cause Ernie Reyes Jr is a powerhouse when it comes to martial arts, it’s a shame he wasn’t in more action films cause he had the skills. With that said, Surf Ninjas is just a cool 90s film that you don’t take seriously, just enjoy the fun atmosphere
One of my all time favorites.
WMAC Masters next, please...and you best be mentioning my boy Tsunami!
I agree. One of the best characters.
The dude who fought lu Kang in first mk movie hakeem I think and the guy who did a triple spin kick were my 2 fav wmca masters
90s family comedies I will never get tired of watching those kinda movies!
Word up. I got my kids hooked on 3 ninjas.
Surf Ninjas is seriously one of my favorite comedies ever....
also omfg WMAC Masters needs to be brought back in a reboot...loved that show back in the day
Dude I freaking love you!!! Pulling out all my childhood favorites
Favorite scene still is when Rob Snyder is talking to Zatch about using the patch to quit smoking and Rob breaks the 4th wall and says to the audience "Look who I'm talking too"
I saw this movie in the theater, I was small and into the ninja craze
“If you ran like a mother and get winky the one eye black belt”
Love that line 🤣
And Tone Loc!!!! I loved this movie.
Surf Ninjas was fantastic! I loved it with TMNT in the 1990s.
Oh my God I am not alone someone actually remembers the wmac Masters tsunami cyborg an Olympus were some of my favorites and red dragon
Surf Ninjas is severely underrated. It was a great comedy action adventure.
Bruh, I love surf ninjas. This is always a flashback to better times with me and my cousins. This and 3 ninjas! Man I loved those movies.
Ernie Reyes Jr. is part 80's of our nostalgia when us kids during that time growing up.. TMNT secret of the ooze, Side kicks, surf ninjas, etc.. We all wanted to be like him with his martial arts prowess..
YESSSSSSSS!!!! Still one of my favorite movies.
Best movie ever !!!
“Chicks got a veil, dude better bail”
This whole era of ninja based movie was my whole childhood,3 ninjas for some reason used to depress me when the grandpa got beat up
Love this movie! Just had my 11 year old daughter watch it a couple weeks ago! She loved it too!
That movie was absolutely amazing as a kid. The part where he sings the "Barbaran" I played over and over again lol
best movie of all time
I was going to watch this movie, but I couldn't open the box. I didn't have anything to open the box with because money... can't buy knives.
🤣🤣🤣🤣
The dvd box?
i LOVE surf ninjas!!! i still have it and watch it least once a summer
This movie was my childhood…I loved it soooooo much
Man this movie was really underrated I loved it back in the day
I wore out the tape on my surf ninjas vhs when I was a kid. I know it's corny, but I loved it. I loved surfing, and I loved ninjas. It was perfect.
Loved this movie and no one i talk to ever remembers it
This is one of my ALL TIME FAVORITE movies.
it was on constant summer rotation for me!
🗣 LOUDER for the people in the back
Its a really cool kids/pre-teen aged movie. Definitely brings me back to when I was little watching it, and I think that's the best compliment we could give it. It's not a great nuanced story with lots of incredible martial arts scenes, but its not trying to be. It's meant to be fun, and never takes itself too seriously (cue Leslie Nielsen as General Chi, LOL). I bet little kids today would still enjoy this early 90's ninja classic :)
This will always be one of my favorite movies!!! I still quote this move to this day.
One of my top favorite martial art movies
This movie was MY JAM!! Idek how many times I watched it when I was a kid
I loved surf ninjas. Watched it over a hundred times!
Rob Schneider was brilliant in this role, and the writers really capitalized on his ability. I still quote this movie with my brother for fun and no one gets any of the references.
I was literally just trying to find this movie online. Rented it when I was 4, then saw this on my suggestion videos. Awesomeness
Classic!!!
New lime cinema always made great movies. When u saw that new lime logo in the vhs days u know u were in for a good one
Dude I thought I was the only one that remembered WMAC masters! Great Wolf and The machine inspired me to do Martial Arts

Surf Ninjas was awesome lol. Loved it as a kid
Literally my favorite movie of all time!!!
I got surf Ninja DVD and I used to have it on VCR to surf Ninja
I used to love this movie!! This and 3 Ninjas!
When Rob Snyder’s character was so certain that Zatch had suddenly started cooking in the kitchen, all while the house was under attack by Ninjas, still makes my laugh to this day… 😂
Dude I was obsessed with wmac masters
OMG I used to rent this vhs ALL THE TIME! I wanted a game gear so bad....😩
I loved this movie growing up!!! It was a jewel of the 90s lol a real blessing indeed lol
Ernie Reyes Jr. was in so many great flicks.
Just found these, was born in 85 you can look out I’ll be liking n leaving a comment on every single one starting now, thanks for the amazing content !!
Please do WMAC Masters, Hakeem "The Machine" Alston was my favorite. Back on subject, this is one of my favorite movies growing up, and I still love it to this day. Also Ernie Reyes Jr has a small role in Berry Gordy's The Last Dragon another one of my favorites growing up. While he got to fight The Rock in The Rundown, Kelly Hu got to kiss him in The Scorpion King. I'd take Surf Ninjas over all the Three Ninjas movies put together.
Yo I swear we share the same childhood; just decided to watch this movie out the blue last month, every thing you post is just so NOSTALGIC!!!!!! #80’sbaby
I love this movie 🎬 i seen this in 1993 as a kid this was my childhood so many great memories

My favorite movie of all time!
Loved Surf Ninjas as a kid and yes I remember that ninja tv show.
I love this movie. It was a buttload of fun and still is.
Damn,, THAT was a nostalgic trip down "memory lane"! I was about 14 when this movie came out. I can't believe this guy referred to himself as "old".... I was born in the late 70's, and I'M not... Well I'm only... DAMNIT NOW I FEEL OLD!!!!
(THANKS A LOT!!) lol
I have loved this movie from the moment it came out it took something like a ninja and made it its own original idea that's why I watch it every chance I got on TV and then when the DVD was available I made sure I owned it
Absolutely love WMAC Masters! I even had the action figures.. Turbo and Tsunami
I cant believe you made this video. I loved this movie as a young kid. this, 3 ninjas and power rangers. oh and the 3 turtle live action movies
Love this movie
Omg i used to have it on vhs and watched it over and over it broke my heart when I lost it
we NEED an episode about WMAC Masters!!!
I've watched this movie billions of times, still watch it regularly to this day. I wish they would come out with a blu-ray release. We even named our Animal Crossing island Patusan. Also yes, I do remember watching WMAC Masters, I talk about it all the time. Superstar Ho Sung Pak was Liu Kang from the original Mortal Kombat game. 3 Ninja's Kick Back, the one where they go to Japan was also on regular rotation for me. Kick Back had music from Seo Taiji and Boys, the group that started K-Pop/Hip Hop back in the 90's.
I still love this movie
This has been a CLASSIC of my best friends and I since we were freshmen in college. So many good memories!!
This film still showcases the best front flip ever filmed, still to to this day. When Zatch flips off the pier..absolutely perfectly flawless flip
👏👏👏👏
I too was born in 87 and yes this movie is definitely a classic😁
