Pacifism is OP, especially with how easy it is to fabricate claims, get claimants or even outright buy claims. One more county with 4/5/6 holding slots means more cash, levies, building bonuses, and scared factions. Also funnily enough, Pacifism can be paired with Pursuit of Power which will also cancel out the opinion penalty even.

Pilgrimages are so awesome with some of those bonuses and events you get out of it, really worth the cost and they take way less time than the game makes it sound like. I also don't know how it is with traditions other than Catholic or Insular, but I've found the most important relationship you have is with your archbishop, since the money and levies you get seem directly related to their opinion of you

if you can raid send raiders to sack one holding, this will make the holder hostile to you for 5 months, then if you fight their troops you will gain prestige and piety based on how many of them you kill. i dont know if it matters that they are a different religion but i would assume so. i used men-at-arms divisions that were high in pursuit (konni) and at the end of the battle they chase down all the retreating enemy and really increase the casualties. you can easily gain 1k prestige and 1k piety if you wipe out a stack of 10k troops. the numbers need to be tweaked i think, seems op

If you start before the age of 30, you can easily hit both of those targets. If you dont even hit kingship you can easily hit 15 knights and +15% is not to be sniffed at

Oh so interesting! Some questions and ideas I have. I'd like to know how difficult the game is to do outlandish things I have in mind.
I'm thinking of a small kingdom plus duchy, few vassals, so not be overwhelmed by micromanaging. I'd like to focus on forming a religion. Definitely leading the religion and converting as many as possible. Funny stuff with seduction, definitely witchcraft, maybe polyamory or concubines. Be the power behind the thrones, based on Dune's Bene Geserit.
You can only reform once, but can you convert first to a faith more like the one you like and then reform that? It seems the Coptic religion (or any with the Alexandrian something) is awesome for the learning character that you want anyway. Get the longer lifespan and theology line faster, right? Add the medium health boost of being witch and reforming in one lifetime should be easy, right?
Is the trait (eucomeny?) that makes catholics and orthodox like each other available to any christian faith? Does that make it a must have?
I've seen a tip appointing a noble of the same faith as the county and then force that character to convert. The county changes along with the noble.
Is it easy to convert high rank nobles or their heirs - outside of your realm - to your religion? For example, could you fully convert a strong empire in a lifetime? Would you just have to convert the imperial heir? Can you convert clergy?
Could you use this just to sow strife, like convert a few nobles in say the holy roman empire? Would this lead to internal wars or would these nobles just be removed in notime?
Just a few ideas I got from this video:
With seduction (or concubines?) breed only bastards, and many of them and pick the one you like for succession. Possibly a grandchild, so a bastard of a bastard as you'll live long.
Pick the two things that allow clergy to be commanders and knights (+8?), allow both genders for knight and clergy, allow clergy to marry and make your best bastards clergy.
Convert allies and enemies (and heirs) to witches, either for extra relation or to get them in trouble or help convert them to your religion.

    • @LordForwind
      @LordForwind  3 года назад +1

Basically all of that is somewhat doable.

Actually being cynical is extra 20% off from reforming a bit less piety income but the events can reflect on it better, you might get 'wise man' and lifestyle xp, then your learning is better. Also, your wife on patronage boosts your learning and hers, and the events give tons of piety when she is good at it.
If you are unreformed, you got no churches, actually, even south Italy lacks many of them, Greece and Spain is better for that.
So is faster to adopt a faith and go feudal then go back if you want. You could use the menu of the faith, but it depends on fervour, a faith that has 0% fervour costs you 35000 piety which is impossible to get, a faith with close to 100% will pop up in heresy outbreaks and its cheap to convert to it, but you might need to be a living legend with no tyranny so your family follows it.
Actually, the best way to convert is trough your wife, you can always kidnap or capture, seduce a female from another faith and gives the option to adopt to it, with multiple wives or lovers you can just swap around easily, or do a double switch, it can cost a loss of prestige and devotion level to do it.
A fun way to get rid of heresies to convert to it then convert back from it, since their main issue is the faith itself, but you can imprison them and take lands if you wish, only that its way faster to convince leaders to convert than to use conversion with a priest, and high learning rulers are prone to adopt heresies. And nothing wrong with reforming twice as long as you are famous and loved, your family members follow you, you just need to control more than 60-80% of the lands, you better take 'know yourself' and do the reform in the last year but you can just take human sacrifice if you want more changes later. Around 6500 piety is a pretty good religion, but rather change the basics to another, All Christian faiths got ecumenism at the start, and that makes marriages possible. But the holy sites ar a lot of money and influence, and thee best holy sites are the byzantine ones, a few others use those same locations like most Jewish faiths.
As for Africa, Sonnike and Ghana is far superior in innovations, butt Bidaic is not ass good as Sanguic, since Sanguic has the holy sites in the middle. BAsically 3 layers on top of each other. The culture and religion conversion is slow, so by controlling the Singuic sites and cities like Niani and Jenne, you get more power than from fighting with it. Did a manding run, and moved my capital to Jenne, adapted to their culture but kept my religion. They will adopt any faith just to go feudal but then they swap back to one old.
Actually, bastards are horrible, Ai can geet kids from concubines and take over your line, since having genius rulers is the best, the bastard can take your heir spot and you get worse genetics from a concubine than a wife you choose. You can marry your concubines or secondary wives matrilineally. Concubines are good for breaking alliances but bastards are bad in the partition. Legitimizing when needed is better than disinheriting when not needed. Multiple wifes are powerful, just because they can do different tasks in the council, so you better not use 'assist ruler' but have one on 20-30 points and change primary when needed, also the ones with no land or claims will stay in court after the divorce so you can basically bring in an unlimited number of women, convert them and marry with your own courtiers who would not get as good marriages as you would.
The main difference in religions is what is considered criminal and what not. Adamite or Asatru, Taltosist or Suomi are pretty good.
As for the priests, they can do control, recruit or popular opinion, own land and/or marry. Since you got 5 council spots and 4 councillors, and you cant change the priest for most religions, or if you do you don't get taxes, a custom one can help with that. You either go female priests and more freedom, or families owning lands as use them as a normal councillor.I think male-dominated is fine, you can still put them into position if their husband dies, choosing old or wounded husbands with no kids. Also, diplomat and steward is generally male, spymaster can be a female, that's why i like female priests. Marshalls can be female in some case, but they never fight like a knight, they just command so they rarely die, which is good and bad, since you get hooks on vassals each generation, and if they dont like you, you can force them to die so if you got many strong families you only protect one each specialized on diplo or stewardship, supply your own spymaster, and have multiple martial focused families to fight each other while you get away with tyranny. Female commanders liv long, and easily get 40 stats in martial, which is huge to train and control, but if you ever piss them off, they are the scariest liberty war, leaders.
Generally, you want to reform your faith and hold a single holy site at least for a 'head of faith'. Indirect control over churches is more money and fewer crimes are kinda better. Unless you are the head of faith and seek indulgences with lay clergy. Lollards and Waldensians are kind of scripted outbreaks and they are more poverty-focused, old catholicism is better for money.
Catholicism has Ecumenism which makes other Christians Astray and not Evil, which means you can get marriages with -30 penalty and not -1000. To weaken them, you just take Constantinople, Antioch, Alexandria, Rome and Jerusalem. So byzantine has less land to cover o 'Mend the great schism'. But Karaiitee or Samaritan? and others are also Jewish and quite similar.
Tribal faiths are quite good and having more land for your faith helps with marriages, those Swedish chicks are op for any unreformed faith.
If you want an easy run, try the Magyar migration, you get 5000 special soldiers for 'preparing thee migration', they stay until your ruler dies and you can declare war on anyone inside Pannonia. Then you can give titles to anyone, culture change, all the good sttuff. hen you either go catholic and feudal, then either promote catholicism for development bonus or go back to taltosism and swap 1tenet for another. Its a long time until you get any pressure from HRE or Byzantine so you can choose Human sacrifice and reform it again, it can be whatever and you still stay a strong local force. In other places i tried and they jumped on me right away.
