  • Do you think libraries in Singapore are severely underrated? It was a nostalgic trip to the libraries for me. So much have changed but yet it feels the same. It seems like social media has slowly replaced reading books, fuelling our daily needs for dopamine. If you ever have the time, do drop by your neighbourhood libraries and give them a visit.

To be honest, the facility of a library in Singapore is better than in my country. Singaporeans are very well-being. The government really takes care of people.

I am very grateful for the public libraries in Singapore. I agree with you that the physical library spaces are used by public to conduct their own activities rather than for reading and using the libraries' resources. Nevertheless I feel it is a conducive environment for public who wants a quiet and comfortable place to study or just to chill and relax. I also want to commend the eBook collection curated by the National Library. It has grown over the years and is really impressive. And the library app is so easy to use now. I think I am not the only one using the eBooks as I have to queue to check out some of the popular titles.

Interesting virtual tour at the libraries that were newly opened in Tampines in 2017, Yishun in 2018, Harbourfront in 2019, and Choa Chu Kang in 2021. 😊👍 But now the most recent library opened this year 2023 is Punggol Regional Library at One Punggol Hub.

Further add on to my comment, the library in Singapore is really a great place to work as well if it's inconvenient to work at home so I don't have to go to office all the time. I can be in the library for 10 to 12 hours a day for work matters or even part time studies. I impinges on individual's constructive views of the library, even better if the library is walks away from home.

Cuz covid lor and fckers that chope seats overnight. Free aircon, table, chair and quiet environment to study - good for all students and you have some trash using phone or putting things there for days.
Some more so many tourists coming in to do nothing and bring culture everywhere.
