    Before I even watch this video, I want to say a big thank you for these videos. Thank you for the nostalgic induced tears. Thank you for a few minutes of calm in this crazy world.

    Lovely old photos, it's good that they are not lost in some old draw and forgotten.

    Fantastic again, and loved the music at 9.13, Rainy Day People. Only ever heard the Gordon Lightfoot version but this was terrific as an instrumental. And immediately followed by a Bacharach classic! 😀😃

    Yet another great video. Thanks. However, can I question the date of 1962 for the shot of Great Western Road at 4:20? It's been taken from more or less at the foot of the close where I lived then and the tram lines which ran along the central reservation have obviously been lifted. However, the trams didn't stop running along there until September 1962 and so very unlikely there were lifted and grassed over so quickly.

    • @brecklander
      @brecklander 5 месяцев назад

      I'm not so sure. When the trams finally stopped in 1962, there was only one line left running at that time and that was the No.9 which didn't go along Great Western Road. As far as I can tell, the No.30 tram ran along there but I can't find out what date that line closed. It could have closed in the late 50's giving plenty of time to remove the tracks and wires. The age of the other vehicles in the photo tend to support the 1962 date.

    Many thanks! I love looking at these old pictures of my native city which I left 46 years ago. I'd also like to thank Brian Carno for confirming that Cilla was in the background of the Ken Dodd photo. I'd wondered if it was her but wasn't sure.

    Thank you Colin. I was struck by the contrast of trousers through the ages with the plus fours at 3.45 to the baggy flares at 2.30. Quite an evolution over 40 years. I'm happy to say there are no surviving photos of me wearing baggy flares. Oh... and another trolley bus photo 👍

    Another fantastic compilation. Thank you. My mum lived in Cornwall st. as a kid and I may be wrong, but I think that the Cardonald library hut thing is still there. I'm not sure what it's used for. Scouts or a Labour club or something.
