My wee da when he came back from the war, was among other jobs, a carter, bus, tram, trolley bus and lorry driver, I imagine he’s in some of these photos behind the wheel of some sort of transport. He was also a docker.
Great photos and memories. The chimney pot man at 3:42, is on Cathcart Rd. Corner of Akinhead Rd. Looking north. In the for gound there's at wooden access stair next to the water tower. I remember standing there watching steam engines moving about probably 1966.
I hear so many people complain about the M8 running through Glasgow as well as the extended ring road that was originally planned in the 60's. The 1975 picture of Alexandra Parade proves how bad it was in those days so what would it look like 50 years later.......
@@colinburrowes8063 Seriously, it would be worse than that.......... It used to take forever getting out of Glasgow and heading up to Stirling and Perth in the late 60's and early 70's!

I grew up in Carntyne 1957 to 1979. I've never heard of "Alright Here For Carntyne!. What was that about?
I think 'Alight Here For Carntyne', was where people got off the tram or train.
