Mick and Riley...
Fab video. My cord snapped at base so now I know how to take apart rather than get a rivet gun and whole new mechanism etc. many thanks and hope you are felling better
Thanks
…and now works like new. Many thanks again
@@danwillson8393 you are welcome... Happy mowing
Thanks
Wow thanks
Doing some Great Videos Mick, really enjoying Them.... I like how You show nearly every step without too much editing, really informative. Great to see Riley helping again !!!
Just started watching your channel and have noticed your son Riley is a little gem! My son also Riley is nearly 4 and is mad on mowers!!
Hay a great name for a channel "Mad on mowers"
Am kicking myself. I’ve a couple of rover 5hp Briggs engined mowers. I’ve always drilled rivets out to change cord instead lol. Never thought to remove the metal surround. Thank you.
Great show
Thanks mate I appreciate your support
You set the plug gap to 0.68mm, I think you were aiming for 0.50mm, love the rest of the vid
Good video Mick, it's a pity they didn't just bolt the recoil, instead of riveting it to the housing.
Yes mate
You have great howto videos you and little man mower #SMALLENGINATION
Ta maye. How you holding up bud
Good video mate, can't wait until my young lad is able to fetch tools to order!
well done another great video glad to see that you got to use the impact driver, you got those filters cheaper than i did.
Riley 👍👍😎
Hi Mick you're doing some amazing work pal nearly ready for the new season. I usually have a few too many stickers when I go to WDW so would like to give a few to Riley if that's what he likes. Thanks for sharing.
italianjob 77 fantastic mate he would love it. My email is in the right up section
Riley topman keep up the hard work little man , who is Mick 😉
Loo yeah I know I'm sacked lol
that oil extractor pump sure looks handy. I might pick one up. generally i prefer to drop the oil screw and drain it that way and get all the trash that might be there but then you end up not changing oil as much.
It's a great tool..
Great video for a novice like me, Mick. Thank you. Can you tell me how to get the oil out of my mower without an oil pump?
Tip it up on its side.. oil side down..
another great one you have to keep your apprentice fed lol
He never stops eating. He has holo legs I tell ya
good video, the newer briggs have a more Honda style recoil, ontop of engine 3 screws and quickly comes off, some briggs have a cover that clips on, new harrier 48/56 ranges out this year.
Yeah mate I had a look at some newer ones the other day. But i will never buy a new mower lol have too many old ones. Thanks for the comment 👍
Hey Riley, can you do mines next? You little superstar. Thanx guys.
mick mclaughlin yeah no problems
Great apprentice there , what diameter is the pull cord . Keep the Hayter videos coming they are a great help to DIY ers.
3mm mate
Hi, Just watched your video, I like the way you take your time and explain as you go, very helpful. I have an R48 which is in good condition, but often it will drain all the petrol from the tank and it appears to be coming out the air intake on the carburetta, I have cleaned it out, although it was very good but still doing it. Any ideas please? Cheers Neil
Sounds like a needle and seat issue.. clean the carb again and this time use an ear bud to clean the seat where the needle sits and give the needle ene a good clean.. hope that helps
Hello Mick your Hayter 48 looks like the same engine & carb set up as mine,
I have only just bought it. Does it original have a throttle cable for revs and choke??
Any advice appreciated.
The older ones have a throttle control.. if it's a manual choke system..
Hi mick - I have a hayter 48 not a pro model- the variable speed cable has come away from the casing on handle, hasn’t affected drive but will this damage the mower as variable speed pulley not being used?
Hi mate it would pay to get it fixed mate
Do you have any other ways to extract the oil other than the tool you use? Can I tip it on its side to extract the oil?
Matt Henshaw hi Matt. Yeah you can just tip it up on its side it’s what I used to do but can be messy. Always run it for 3 mins or so first so it’s nice and hot.
Hi Mick, unfortunately my pull cord snapped inside the pull cord assembly. I've stripped it back as per your video, but notice there isn't much recoil in the unit when I twist it. Is this right, or do I need a new PC unit riveting in?
Thanks, Chris.
Should just be able to twist it mate ..
@@themowerman Snapped spring! Hunting for a new recoil pully/spring next.
@@keanosmagic-hat9962 email me a photo.. I think I have one
no need to take off the cowling to change the rope do it from the top you need to do a few weeks in the trade and learn all the tricks and dodges
Please remember that I do my videos for the home user. Not all the people that watch my videos are in the trade game..
