After doing a few covers of ULTRAKILL songs, I decided to try my hand at an original fan track! What do you think? I used some drum samples, but otherwise stuck to the chiptune instruments I was used to. This was also my first try at heavily chopping breaks, and I'm glad to see it turned out well.
Finals are finishing up soon, so I should have more free time than before, but I'm not too sure what I'll be working on next. I might make more chiptune remixes, but I also wanted to develop skills with other synths and get back into original composition. In any case, expect some more music this summer!

Edit: I meant that, if you can't actually kill the final boss, there would be no reason to have a level about it. Every level is supposed to be beatable (unless Hakita purposely trolls us, but I feel like it wouldn't be in a level that's part of the main story)

when you think about it, if Jesus exists in Ultrakill lore, then he was probably the first (and maybe only) Prime Soul known to humanity. y'know, they attempt to kill him and through sheer willpower his soul manifests a physical form, and in his case it looks just like his normal body

Considering that God is dead in Ultrakill's lore(potentially by suicide), the idea of Jesus winding up lost in some prison, potentially after trying to free everyone from Hell Himself is nightmarish...

The logic checks out, just take Minos for example, he cared so much for the well being and justice for his people he was killed for it and his will for justice was so powerful he became a prime soul, and even after being killed again his first though is just the sadness of failing at saiving his people.
The power of prime souls are measured by how many recognized them before his death. Jesus is known by almost if not the entire world, so it'd make sense for him to be extremely powerful.

@@G0og1eGugz That's wrong, the only thing that recognition affects on a soul it's the physical characteristics of the body it habits in hell, that's why the husk of king Minos is so big, but a Prime Soul doesn't neccesarily need recognition to form, but instead a strong will to defy the natural law imposed by God, refusing to die and denying the father's will.

Just picture this:
V1 has slaughtered every layer of Hell, with the remaining machines taking over the layers in the absence of those who previously kept order, feasting on the plentiful blood left behind. Gabriel is dead/defeated, with the rest of Heaven seemingly soon to follow. The machines now reign supreme.
Except... if the 3 prime souls have been destroyed, a long forgotten sanctum opens in the deepest depths of Hell. The fourth and final prime soul reveals himself. He was sealed away not by force, but by choice. The overwhelming guilt of being unable to save humanity from itself for a second time led the former savior of man to take his own life. However, due to being the most worshipped and revered being besides the Father himself, he once more returned from the grave.
The prime soul appears before V1, addressing them as "son of humanity", and proclaims his desire to destroy all life. He does not do this out of vengeance, greed, or any other desire, but instead out of mercy. The world must finally be put to rest.

It's a really good pitch, but Humanity is already gone in ULTRAKILL, and the machines are mopping up the layers of hell, effectively destroying them. There'd be nothing else to erase.

But, I think the fact of Jesus Prime having such a simple-sounding theme with minimum instruments actually shows this prime soul as a simple one, who needs nothing but forgiveness to everyone else, unbound of sins, temptations, a pure heart which needs not too much to be a rich one, a heart you'd desire to follow and cleanse on your journey

*After beating all three Prime souls, P-RANKING them, a level will open up to V1.*
*An upside-down cross sits just there, apon the middle of a grassy, serene environment. Slightly above the floor, it floats, as if waiting for something.. Or someone.*
*V1 approaches, curiosity taking the better of the walking gopro.*
*A figure slowly lowers itself down to the cross, a giant ball of light behind their head, containing beautiful, long hair.*
*They place their bare feet apon the grass, and slowly take the cross, ripping it from some sort of magnetic pull it had with its spot.*
*It began forming into a blade, while they turn it from upside-down, to its more well-known state.*
*They spoke, softly*
"Lamb of Iron.. Oh how I wish it that i was found sooner, rather than a time too late for salvation for those of current year.."
*Whilst they spoke, the blade fully formed, it looked like any normal sword, besides the fact of the lack of a handguard and the two extra blades coming from each side, creating a cross-like shape*

'Salvation!' - Only when near V1, Jesus slowly approaches, immune to damage, and begins spinning the sword in a circle, if caught in it, V1 will take 5 damage per hit, with 5 hits per second. In the end, Jesus will teleport to V1 and get ready for an over-head strike that deals 50 damage, which glints ORANGE, meaning it cannot be dodged, and ONLY parried. If parried, Jesus will say 1 of 2 lines; "Perfect, More!" Or "Yes, just like that!"
'Forgiven!' - Jesus will due a Virtue strike 5 times. Each time, he has to charge it up which takes longer depending how far away V1 is, leaving him vulnerable, But he will teleport to somewhere random in the arena. He will Glint ORANGE before striking V1 with a blast, dealing 20 damage. Each time he is parried, until the last blast, Jesus will say "Again!", until he says "All has been forgiven." after the last parry.
'Sin. Be. GONE!' - Combo-move. on each word, Jesus will teleport, and strike once, then, on the last strike, he will glint ORANGE. The first two hits will deal 30 damage, and the last, 40.
*phase 2*
"Amazing, Lamb of Iron!"
'Salvation!' changes: Jesus will do this at any time now, getting quicker when approaching, and teleporting a small distance away in a random direction, now being completely silent besides the starting line. V1 cannot jump or dash for 2 seconds after activation.
'Forgiven!' changes: Jesus will charge up the blasts faster, and teleport sooner after successful parry.
'Sin. Be. GONE!' changes: Jesus now says 'Sin. Be. No. MORE!' and adds a swing to the combo, now having 2 ORANGE attacks instead of 1.
'Hell for NONE!' - Jesus teleports way way above V1, and then falls down at extremely high speeds apon saying 'NONE!', causing a shock-wave that deals 30-22 damage, depending how far away from the centre it is, and the initial landing dealing 80 damage if it hits V1. Jesus then stays there, getting the sword out from the ground, allowing V1 a heal-window.
apon a RETRY, Jesus will say either "No, no! Try again! Once more!" or "You aren't done yet, please, try harder!"
Jesus is NOT a prime soul. They are NOT locked away. They stay there by choice, until someone able to kill him once more arrives again, afraid to accidentally harm any sort of life. It is easy to recognise that all of the attacks are close-ranged, besides 'Forgiven!', because they do truly wish to be slain, and staying at far distances will not help V1 much with that. Jesus' source of power is not the abundance of faith, but the ABSANCE of such, as God was afraid to lose faith from his creations, and thus Jesus was made to make sure if that ever happened, he would be there to clean the mess. The plan obviously had gone ary due to Jesus' love for the life on Earth, and so God abandoned it, either killing himself or leaving to make a new Earth after many things had went wrong. Jesus was left there, in a barren world, slowly gaining too much power to be killed, due to the quick loss of faith.. Until a blue mother fucking GOPRO entered hell, and gave Jesus hope for Salvation once again.
Jesus Christ (hah), this is the best one I've seen to date. This one actually deserves to be called "underrated."

You recognize this place. It wasn't even that long ago you had seen it. In limbo. It was a shallow recreation of something truly serene. A temple carved of flesh lies before you. From the discription, I like that it gives the idea that fighting Jesus Prime GIVES might bring salvation to the world. That upon defeating and killing him, in three days he shall return to bring salvation to a new age. Like it unlocks a secret good ending to Ultrakill. Really cool.

That would be cool, but Hakita has said that the events of the Prime Sanctum levels will have no effect on the larger story, so it doesn’t matter whether you complete them or not.

I'll be honest, the idea of Jesus Laughing maniacally as his eyes glow a bright white light is terrifying to me.
The portion from 2:45 to 3:07 is what keeps dragging me back to this.
That grand, tragic tone of the Requiem Leitmotif of ORDER, but far more high-octane like the breakdown portion of WAR right before the Sands of Tide Leitmotif.
It just screams "Enraged Last Stand on a Higher Mission" for my brain's fight scene generator.

I was thinking that would actually be really cool if they somehow made Gabriel P-3, instead of being some insane boss fight the P-3 room itself is simply a button that enables Gabriel's phase 4 or whatever as a Prime Soul
As for how that would be remotely possible, maybe his form becomes capable of sustaining a PRIME soul as he loses his angelic energy or whatever the angels feed on that Gabriel has been deprived of?

The musical references, the historical/mythological references, the wordplay in the title, the build-ups and drops, the background image, the sheer power of the leitmotif. THIS IS SO, SO GOOD. Even the comments are getting in on the action--some really creative speeches/voice lines for Jesus Prime. Hope Hakita hears this, somewhere, somehow.

the intention for the level title was Forgotten/Begotten Son, in reference to the phrase commonly used to describe Jesus as being created by God, but hey, Forgotten Son/Sun works as well
forgotten sun would be better because of every prime sanctum title having a wordplay in it, soul survivor meaning sole survivor and wait of the world meaning weight of the world
I think "Unfortonate Son" will also be a great title
I think Forsaken Sun would be great. It's a play on Son and also the supposed last words of Jesus as seen in Luke 27:46 and Mark 15:34

PRIME THIRD - BEGOTTEN SUN
The machine stood, bloodied, scraped and dented by the battle before. A seemingly insurmountable gauntlet, tried again and again by one challenger after the next, yet only one stood victorious.
As the third and final prison crumbled before V1, its circuitry tingled at the thought of who could reside within. Minos, Lord of Lust. Sisyphus, Insurrectionist. Perhaps it would be Odysseus, or Perseus, or..
The lines of code that substituted for thoughts in its head were cut short by the sight of the figure, golden and resplendent.
The soul was blinding, the only features that could be made out to the machine's optic were a glorious ring of gold behind its head, and long, flowing hair. As the figure's feet gently made touchdown with the floor, He spoke.
"My thanks and forgiveness to you, lamb of iron. You, who have came so far, conquered every enemy. Minos, cast down. Sisyphus, vanquished. They may have sinned, but they should have been forgiven, not slain.
But.."
He paused.
"I forgive you. It is only what comes natural to you, isn't it? Through no fault of your own, this is how you were made, and be it through the hands of Man or the hands of the Father, you are how you are. Nothing can change that."
The machine stood in silence. Lifeless optic trained upon the glorious figure. It could smell His holy blood, metallic fingers twitching at the prospect of savoring in it.
He spoke again.
"I know it is your aim to kill me, child. Believe you me, that is my aim as well. Kill me, and I shall rise again. My soul shall be reborn, not in Hell, but above. So it is that I ask you, lamb of iron. Are you up to the challenge?"
V1 did not answer. It never answered.
"We shall see. Come then, child of man, creature of steel, machine, lamb of iron, whatever name it is you prefer. Come, and be BAPTIZED!"

Death after death, the machine feels as though it is going mad. Attempt after attempt, with nothing to show for it..

A dodge here, a ricoshot there, steady improvement, fight after fight, overcoming the greatest of trials until..
A crash. With a final shot, He is defeated. Form beginning to crack, the soul rises up.
"Well done, child of man. Your prowess is unmatched. With this, we are both satiated, for now."
His form begins to unravel.
"I hope we meet again, child. In this life, or the next.
...
May your days be many, and your woes few."
With a noise like that of shattered glass, He was gone. V1 had did it. There was nothing left. Hell was empty, all life purged by the machine.
Nothing remained but V1, sat alone as it starved. Not even holy blood could satiate its hunger.

It would definitely make sense as Jesus was already human, maybe in this game a figurehead to toy with God's creations, and died for them to eternalize his glory. He could've risen against God when he realized his father's eternal cruelty towards even those with minor sins, resulting in his second death and imprisonment deep in hell.

I've been thinking for about an hour of all the possible ways this could work. I think it really could.
1) Jesus was very much revered in life. With God gone, he would be the strongest entity in the Ultrakill afterlife.
2) It's very reasonable to think that Ultrakill takes place in three days, each ACT being approximately 24 hours. We know this because of Gabriel. Assuming P-? would be at the very end of the game, it would line up with the time it took Jesus to resurrect.
3) Flesh prisons seem to be growing in complexity. A Flesh Tesseract as the final prison would be fitting, as it looks like a cross.
4) Jesus Prime would have a KILLER design. Crown of thorns, iron nails jutting out his hands like weapons, the wound that Longinus gave him pulsating with blood. Holy shit.

Did He get left behind in Heaven and tossed aside by the Angels who took control? Did He get left down in Hell in a Prime Sanctum that we cannot see, one that is past even the Ninth Circle or in it? Did He go with God to wherever He went? Did He take control of Heaven right after Gabriel's message after Gabriel massacred the oligarchical Council?

I feel like in this fight, while Minos literally tells you to die and Sisyphus kinda does the same but for different reasons, Jesus would probably compliment and affirm the player while having 20X the difficulty of both prime souls combined

I really like how this sounds like a midground between the sadness and long for justice of order and the uncaring psychopathic nature of war

I love this! i'm listening on repeat just cus it's so awesome. it sounds... not quite like ultrakill, but in the way a dlc is not quite the game it's adding on to. it RHYMES with ultrakill, so to speak.

The arena floor is covered in water that turns into damaging blood during some attacks, forcing you to stay in the air where you're more vulnerable.
Flipping the dynamic of blood would also thematically link up pretty well with the fact that you're fighting Jesus and not a sinner.
