I’ve cut my own hair for years, learned, tried and failed and now im very confident in doing a lot of hairstyles myself and I have an undercut and I can tell you. Sectioning an undercut as easy as it seems can be a frigging nightmare!

Sort it out with the guy cutting your hair. You can make him fix the sectioning before he cuts it
It took me a whole year to just get the courage and cut my hair again cause mine was so horrible. Note dont go to cheap haircuts. You get what you pay for.

Literally just basically got a mowhawk from a high end barber. Sigh, guess I'll be wearing a ballcap for the next year.
I used to have hair like this in middle school from a 0 all the way up to 6 inches of hair and every time I got it done it would move over higher and higher closer to being a Mohawk, I would just shave my head if I ever went through that again
This may be unconventional but as someone who’s had an undercut for 6ish years they’ve been doing their self this is my go to fix. I’ve had times were I’ve accidentally cut too high or grabbed a piece of the long part with my clipper by accident on one side I just flip my parting to hide it while it grows out enough for me to fix and blend the messed up part.
I do the same, I went 4 times to the hairdresser and they messed up my line the 4 times (and not just a bit, it was a zig zag undercut at this point) so I never went to the hairdresser for that ever again. When they trim my lengths they always want to cut my undercut too and insist like crazy but I always answer "If you do that I will not pay you at all, I asked for a trim of my lengths and nothing more."
I myself had a bad undercut where I went really short on the sides and back (no guard with wahl color pros) but I went too high on one side. It was so harsh looking, I buzzed the top with a 2 guard but that took a week to look mostly even. It looked like crap no matter what I did for 2 weeks, but by that point I had a decent buzz cut
If only everyone took their trade this seriously, from bartender, barista, librarian, voice actor, even yelp reviewer. the world would be an amazing place.
I had an undercut in the back several times. Looked and felt good in the beginning. Then I was too lazy to go to a hairdresser and messed it up myself or a friend did... Every time. 😂

Hi SalonGuy! Can you give me a few tips or a link to a vid that fixes an improper high fade / undercut? The way my hair grows on the side (near the part line) comes out spikey & doesn't lay down until its much longer (Like a 2 or 3 in length). Is the only fix waiting for it to grow? Any help would be greatly appreciated
Had a disconnected taper/fade "undercut". Cut it off for the summer at a "barbershop" literally buzzed all the length off and even "lined" me up. Tried to go to a hair salon and they laughed at the picture of Sergio Ramos/Marco Reus style haircut. Fast forward 15 months later I cut my own hair now and finally have about 3 inches of length back. Thinking of growing enough length for a man bun and hope this never happens again

3 months after- All i wore was a hat (it was terrible)
6 months- it grew enough it looked intentional
Now 2 years out and it has grown enough to be hidden under the hair i didnt cut with weird parting. I dont regret it, but wont be doing it again! Lol

my undercut was too high and looks like the example here, i was kinda pissed because i already had an undercut and wanted them to just follow the same line i already had, somehow they ended up making it higher on both sides while leaving some of my old short hair on the back.... it was a complete mess and i was so pissed off because i knew it is going to take years to grow back out, the undercut is currently at about 3 inches long now and i'm thinking i'll keep growing it out but i'm thinking of having an under under cut just around the ears and down to the back of the base of the neck in a v taper.
EXACTLY OMG i had an undercut fade from a sketchy barber one time and he messed up both the undercut and the fade.
Mine looks fine but the only thjng is the line on the left side of my head is slightly too high compared to the right and to fix that I'm growing out the sides slightly to the point where I can have it reshaped properly

My problem is that the hair on the back of my head isn’t long enough lol. I’m transitioning to an undercut from a short faded haircut where the hair on the front was way longer than in the back and it took a while for it to look the way I wanted. It’s not quite there yet but it looks much better than when I first tried it

if ur scared of this happening just get a disconnected korean two block haircut which has the same layering as an undercut but with a more defined structure

Always ask for a Faded undercut. They usually stay lower doing a fade and it grows back easier. (and in my opinion it's looks beter)
